Verified ReviewerAccident!! Victim by my innsurance company this ONE Desjardins insurance!!!! Was hit and run from another vehicle!!!
- Hit by another vehicle in a Burger King drive-thru; car moved 2–3 feet.
- Driver fled; Belleville, Ontario; phone cracked; dog‑and‑pony show described.
Tried my best to reach a fair objective decision. For being hit by a hit and run driver into my vehicle!
They are not going to cover all my damages to my vehicle from the collision caused. 11000 dollars in total damages they only want to cover 2000 dollars
My passengers, two males and a female, were in the vehicle also! My cell phone was even cracked from the impact. Fast forward, the driver left the scene. I tried everything to seek this driver's location in Belleville, Ontario, Canada.
The dog and pony show starts! They also check on you, the victim, and try to find anything dirty on you! Then rub it in your face! The Olympics of the games begin.
They will never honor their own innocent client. They lie, cheat, and steal from seniors and say, 'Thank you, come again!' It's got to stop it from continuing!
Preferred solution: To made whole again and pay for my future losses as they should honor there own policies. Its Policies for Money there Agenda. Beware big time!!
User's recommendation: To real honest about this happening to me being a geart patient and a senior hurt in the accident this company would rather desroy your life.

Hit in the rear ended in drive thru. Hit and run also!
Had to file all paper work too. All the estimates too. Mind this what i was tode to do. Then now they gave to send it to claims adjuster to get rental or road side assistance.
My policy states oif my car cant operate cause of accident. They stranded me as a senior in my country also have heart diffubulater in my chest. With no way to go home. And so no rental no road side assistance.

Verified ReviewerFeel like we were lied to!
- Desjardins mismanaged our trailer claim; box not checked, forcing hotel costs.
- Four months to resolve; cheque deposit issues and harassment.
They have denied the cheque so now we are over $56000.00 in debt to the bank. Not sure what there intention is but it is not good. Feel like I am being raped.
What a mistake that has been. On January 28th, 2024 our trailer was shot then on February 13th, 2024 it caught on fire. This forced us to go to a hotel. We had told the agent over the phone that we would be living there full time.
Imagine our surprise when we found out this was not the case. When my husband phoned to ask they said "Sorry, that box wasn't checked." So we had to spend pretty much our entire paychecks just on a hotel room for us and our family. It took approximately four months ( and a lot of money on our part having to move the trailer from place to place for appraisal) it finally deemed unrepairable. When we receive the insurance cheque that becomes another nightmare.
My husband and I are unable to get time off together to deposit the cheque in the bank that the loan is through. When I made an appointment with them the lady said she couldn't help me and to phone the 1-800 number. When I did that he said I would be able to deposit it through the teller. The teller said I had to have my husband with me to deposit it.
After talking to the tellers at the Scotiabank they told me to go to my other bank and deposit it there as it was a joint account. Then to transfer the money to the loan. Now we are being accused of theft by desjardins in Calgary. We have been bullied and harassed.
Joseph told us to write the amount of the cheque not the amount of the lein on the bill of sale. We also asked to have storage put on our vehicle as it is not road worthy due to a broken main seal. And we are unable to have it repaired due to our current situation. The vehicle then is put back to full coverage.
We have not only explained this but sent documents. My husband received a very smug phone call from Joseph yesterday claiming that the bank did receive the cheque. Well if he actually reads the emails rhat have been sent he will see what happened. As soon as possible my husband and I will be switching insurance companies.
I do not appreciate being treated like a criminal which I am not.
The bank received the money just not the cheque itself. If we are in the wrong for the way we handled this I apologize but we were not given the right directions either.

Verified Reviewer |Accused of theft
- Trailer shot; a fire destroyed it and it was written off.
- Cheque took 4 months; avoid Desjardins.
- We deposited toward the loan and faced theft charges.
My trailer was shot, then we had a fire. The trailer was written off.
The cheque took 4 months to come. We were living in a hotel at our own expense. We couldn't deposit the cheque in the bank where the loan was taken out because my husband and I could not get time off together until August, and they wanted it done ASAP. We deposited the cheque in a different bank and applied it towards the loan.
The entire loan was not paid off and now we are being accused of theft. Do not ever use or trust Desjardins as your insurance company.
- Do not trust their customers in it for themselves
Preferred solution: I would like them to realize their mistake and quit accusing us of theft. They did not pay off the entire loan. The amount left is the balance plus all the missed payments with interest. Causing my husband and I a substantial amount of grief.
User's recommendation: Do not trust Desjardins.

Verified ReviewerBUYER BEWARE in the event of a claim you will GET NOT SUPPORT
- Desjardins claim handling on a senior's car is criticized.
- A professional appraisal was submitted but not accepted after months disputing a few thousand.
If you are a Desjardins customer (formerly State Farm in Canada) I hope you never have a claim. I am supporting my elderly father on a claim and I have NEVER in my 46 years been as frustrated, disapointed, angry and down right pissed off.
Desjardins you should be ashamed of yourselves for what you are doing to a fixed income senior citizen.
You committed to fix his car, retracted this offer and are now trying to screw him on the cash value. I submitted a professional appraisal report, you still don't accept it.
You are spending months quiblling over a few thousand dollars.
Even at my value my father is still in a poor situation because you are taking from him, his low km well maintained sound vehicle.
Insurance is meant to keep people whole. Noone here is looking for a winfall.
You are unreasonable, acting without compassion, to protect your bottom line while treating my father like a piece of cattle and not a person.
Shame on you.
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution
Exaggerated annual increase in home insurance
- Desjardins Assurance raised home insurance 14% for two years with no claims; complaints over ethics received no lower rate.
Desjardins Assurance has increased my home insurance by 14% 2 years in a row with no claims on our part. When I complained about it and questioned their ethics, especially with a 2% inflation only annually, they did not come back to me with a lower increase.
Their founder must be rolling in his grave... Shameful!

You offer no details as to what the issue with the insurance company is, but being a heart patient and a senior has nothing to do with what happened.
Well if they dug up dirt on you, you obviously are not innocent and did something wrong in the past.
All you did was rant in your post. You listed no specifics of what the insurance company is/isn’t doing for you. What exactly is meant by finding something and rubbing it in your face?
