Went to have wisdom teeth pulled, they told me I needed a root canal, I got it after they pulled my wisdom teeth.Later I went to a new dentist they told me how nice my teeth where and why I needed a root canal, I said they told me I needed one he fell out laughing along w another dentist, it was than I knew that Dental Associate's of Torrance took advantage of me and my insurance and they owe me some money. Everyone take the time to find a honest dentist or you will be sorry

Dental Associates Of Torrance Customer Care Review from Torrance, California

9:51a. The nurse said reason of why we're seen late because it took me a long time to fill out the paperwork.

Excuse me, but they didn't hand me the paperwork till 9a. When I checked in at 7:58a. So at 10:03a, back at the front desk, after about 3 minutes of explanation from the surgeon, the front desk had a nerve to say that I should have said that I had to be at work at 10. Then she would have accommodate me and be seen earlier.

But what does it matter???? The appointment was @ 8a.

So logically we should have been seen @8. Or the latest was @ 8:15a.

At 9:43a, the nurse said that we have to wait for the xray and the dentist will come and talk about the surgery. I am still upset so I asked if this is going to be another hour to wait.

The nurse asked if I was waiting for an hour. I told her we've been here since 8a.

Which was our appointment time. Instead of apologizing, she said it must have been the front desk fault.

Finally....@9:39a they came out and called my son.

Original review Apr 22, 2016
My son appointment was scheduled at 8a.It is 9:20a and still waiting to be seen. The girl at the front desk said that he's next. When I asked how much longer do we have to wait. That was at 8:45a. I had to make another arrangement at work, so I can make the appointment on time. Do it's true that dentist don't care about the patient. They just want money. See how it's okay for them to see their patients late.....but once the patient arrive late to an appointment, it needs to be rescheduled.

Dental Associates of Torrance negligent and untrustworthy

I don't know how the police has not arrested the people who work here. This has become so widespread about their thievery and deceitful procedures. I have always had positive feedback from my dentists until I met Chris. He will do the scaling but he always pushes you to get expensive treatments and will try to convince you that your gums are the worst he has ever seen. These people should be inspected by an agency. This is one more example of white collar thieves under the guise of professionals. The typical white-collar criminal is an office worker, business manager, fund manager or executive. The FBI should investigate them.

Dental Associates of Torrance Predatory SCAM BEWARE

Updated by user Jul 12, 2014

Original review Jul 11, 2014
Dental Associates of Torrance (DAT) is a predatory, scam operation. BEWARE. AVOID. DO NOT GO THERE. Unethical, unprofessional and untrustworthy. Find an honest dentist and save yourself thousands of $ in overcharges and unnecessary procedures. Every time I went there they would pull some stunt regarding billing or misrepresentation. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but after repeated abuse and scams, there is no doubt. A few examples: 1) They ruined my front two incisors installing a couple of porcelain veneers. Contrary to what they told me that they were only going to slightly grind the front tooth surface for better adhesion, they instead ground by two front teeth to 1/8 inch stubs. I would never have agreed to this. To make matters worse, the veneers do not stay on, but now have to be periodically reglued. 2) Heidi, a fast talking rep, comes in after they have starting working on you and uses vague descriptions to trick you into upsell treatments without fully informed consent or disclosure of costs. Quotes are not representative of billing costs particularly after retroactive adjustments. 3) Billed me for an occlusal guard that I did not need or want. They have tried billing me for procedures not performed such as tooth extractions. 4) Enrolled me in a bogus GE credit card scam with exorbitant interest charges that I did not ask for, did not want or need. 5) They pad the bill with an excessive number of x-rays on every visit. After they have taken a complete bitewing set, they will often go back for a few more at $52 each. I wonder about the x-ray exposure. They take no precaution to cover the thyroid. Meanwhile, the technician is safely far removed in another room. 6) On every visit for teeth cleaning, they would tell me I need Deep Cleaning which only costs a few thousand extra. I brush my teeth at least 3 times daily, use a dental pick and mouth wash several times a day. Insurance companies are onto this scam and put yearly limits on deep cleaning. 7) They use fluoride treatment during teeth cleaning which is not disclosed beforehand. Fluorine is extremely electronegative and attacks enamel staining it brown. Fluorine embrittles enamel and migrates into bone which leads to fractures. Some dentists favor fluoride treatments as its increasing dental visits for unsuspecting patients to repair cracked teeth which mysteriously develop cracks or perform tooth whitening to treat the mysterious brown staining. Fluoride treament is incompatible with good health. It is not part of the Kreb’s cycle or biologic process. It is lethal. 8) Expect vaguely worded bills many months later for unexplained adjustments to bills that were paid for in full six months earlier. Bills do not identify Doctors name. You need this information when submitting Claim Forms to the Department of Consumer Affairs Dental Board of California , Consumer Fraud Reporting Agency, California Department of Insurance, Better Business Bureau, ClassAction.org when reporting fraud. ClassAction.org provides a list of class action lawsuits with consumer information on class action and mass tort lawsuits.

Dental Associates of Torrance--Be careful!

My partner and I had a very negative experience here. We are new to southern Cal and stopped in because of Dental Associates of Torrance (DAT)'s location close to us. I needed a routine check-up and my partner needed to have some cavities filled. They did the check up and determined that my partner needed two or three root canals and the same number of crowns. They said that I had several cracked teeth and needed two or three crowns as well. They then pulled out a price sheet for the operations and gave us quotes of about $10,000 a piece. I called my old dentist, a friend of mine back in the midwest. He said that cracked teeth in adults are common, and he doesn't recommend crowns unless the teeth break. He also said he does crowns for about $1000 each, about 1/3 the price we were quoted at DAT. We decided to go ahead and have one of the root canals done for my partner because he was in quite a bit of pain. DAT screwed that up, though we paid them about $2,000 for it. The pain never went away. We went to another dentist. He had to refer us to a specialist who had to redo the original root canal and finally make it right. The specialist also determined that my partner didn't need any more root canals. . . a simple filling of two other cavities would suffice for the other teeth. The bottom line is that DAT wanted me to pay $10,000 for treatment I didn't need. (My teeth are still fine.) They also prescribed for my partner one or two root canals more than he needed, and they screwed up the one root canal that they did. Be very careful with these people. My impression is that it's all about the money. Buying treatment from them felt like buying a used car. They pull out a price list with lots of options and work up a quote on the back of an envelope which you can't take with you. And the quotes will be for way more money than you'd ever imagine.

These people are total scam artists. Had me convinced I needed the antibiotics for my gums that cost 600 plus dollars.

They also tried to tell me I needed three cavities filled. By that time (my fourth visit of so) I declined to have them filled. I found another dentist and guess what? He said I had no cavities.

Do not I repeat do not go to this place. They should be ashamed of themselves.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. They don't seem to care about their work at all.

They're all about the money.

The first time I had my cleaning, my gums were bleeding because the dentist was just stabbing between my teeth and yanking. One time they had my husband wait in the waiting room for an hour with no explanation of why he was still sitting there.

Hi Jon. My new regular dentist is Daniel Tamura, on 6200 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles.

He is wonderful.

I had a program crash that cost me my old contact information, so finding the name of the specialist who redid the root canal would not be easy. But he was recommended by Tamura and was also top notch.

Guest

What dentist did you go to for the 2nd root canal? and do you recommend them?

Guest

I had a VERY similar experience at this office!
