Supposed to Serve the Elderly and Their Needs

I have a friend who somehow was deemed incompetent due to Alzheimers. This place called "Decades" in Albuquerque boast that they are advocates for the elderly.

I have a problem when the one who was supposedly "incompetent" has her facilities and these people seem to think that her spouse is who they are taking care of. Her spouse has sold her house, sold her car that she has had since graduating high school in the early 1950's and now has changed her phone number and had these "Decades" people remove her beloved cat from her ugly apartment that they seem to think is perfect for her. She now sits in a pink chair all day, unable to see her friends, her grandchild, her offspring unless the spouse says it's OK. The spouse is sick, disoriented and not competent at all and these people seem to think it's all just peachy keen.

I guess as long as they get $110/hour fee, they are just fine with whatever the spouse says. I thought they were appointed to protect her interest and that is not what they are doing. I feel they have a financial gain and interest in this situation and therefore are not a good fit in this. They boast they have licenses, but when I checked some were not active although they did have Social Work licenses displayed.

When I asked them about my friend, they promptly told me to leave their office and then asked me to leave the building. I must have said something that offended them. Maybe it was when I asked how my friend was doing and they answered they had spoken to her controlling spouse. Again I clarified I did not ask about him, I asked about her and the look on her face was one of disbelief.

As if she didn't hear me the first time. They say they handle senior affairs and elderly this and that but the attitude in their office was one of "high and mighty and how dare you ask". I wouldn't give these people any recommendation whatsoever. Perhaps the financial interest they have in the estate is much more important than the actual living, breathing person they are supposed to be representing to the best of their ability.

Their ability is financial gain and nothing else. Don't use these people for decisions regarding your parents, please. They want to make the $ and when questioned about the standard of care they give, you are thrown out of the office. They are located in Albuquerque off Indian School NE, Danger!

Danger! Stay away!
