Service paid but not delivered

Three years ago, I've purchased a basic plan for the services of this company (https://www.dbdesigner.net/). This year, I've been charged on the 17th of June.

When I got connected to the webservice, I however discovered a new version which was really nice, but did not allow me to see my old project.

I wrote to the company and they were really friendly and imported my old project from their old version to the new one. Unfortunately when I started to work on it I received a message saying that I need to upgrade the plan because I have a free version.

I wrote them again and I received the following answer:

"Thank you for using our application. We noticed that your subscription is currently linked to PayPal. Unfortunately, our new system does not support PayPal as a payment option.

We kindly request that you cancel your subscription through PayPal by logging into your PayPal account. After canceling, please proceed to purchase the new subscription through our updated system."

What surprises me is that they have received my money and, on the new platform under the billing menu, I can see that my basic plan was renewed. I was charged the old price - which I didn't decide, I had no other choice - and I understand that they want me to pay the new price, which is +/- US $ 20.00 higher.

Why didn't they just tell me this and request that I pay the new amount or correct their system within PayPal?

I am clueless and now stucked without any solution from their side. Please help !
