Verified ReviewerResolved: Disappointment with the Houdini
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. I was immediately contacted by a salesperson in my area. He explained how they had made a change with this product and would be ordering two new Houdinis.
Over the years, I have purchased and recommended machines to family, friends and clients. We have purchased humidifiers, other floor cleaners, cleaning products, candles and to say the least, the entire staff knows me by name (Snellville, GA). All of this to say, I am fully aware of the products, and how they work.
My disappointment is with the Houdini. I have purchased two of these machines.
The first was in July, 2022 and the second in February, 2023. After each purchase of a new machine, I would go two weeks to one month before I would have to use my warranty and trade it in for a new machine. My warranty for the machine purchased in 2022 went through 8 trade-ins. The warranty for the machine purchased in 2023 probably had at least the same, if not more trade-ins.
The problems with my machine did not prevent me from recommending the machine to another residential cleaner (Roslyn Hooks) and to a friend (Leisa Kolden). Both of them purchased their machines. Roslyn has already traded-in her purchase three times, and the last purchase lasted two weeks. Leisa made her purchase in December of 2023 and has already traded-in her purchase three times.
The last purchase was outside of her money back guarantee so she will be receiving a new machine soon.
What we have concluded is that the concept of the Houdini is wonderful. I have commented to several clients the Houdini has extended my cleaning life by 10-15 years. I do not have the pull on my shoulders nor the tightening of my hands or fingers from wringing out a mop. We have also concluded the manufacturing of the Houdini is poor.
When we return the Houdini, we have been told there are no replacements parts.
I am sad at this point because I have spent over $800 and do not have a Houdini.
Roslyn, fortunately is still under warranty but does not want to continue returning her machine to the store just to get a machine that will eventually break. Leisa really wants her money back.
Please let us know what options we have at this point.

I called 3 different stores, one never heard of the cleaning. The second store told me 14 day turnaround and the third store is closed

Pissed off customer
I bought a new vacuum cleaner March 2021- come November 2021 it wouldnt turn on so I dropped it off at Davids Ft Worth Tx and they said theyd call me when it was ready- so come February 2022 still havent heard from them- we called and they had no record of me dropping it off there- this was February 19 at 10am - they called back at noon and said Oh your vacuum is here- we just got it back! I go pick it up and took it home and compared serial numbers and its not mine- this one is all scratched up!

Poor Customer Service
I purchased a Riccar corldess vacume in January 2019. It stopped working a couple of weeks ago and I brought it into David's Vacume in Wilmington, DE.
After several phone calls and a week later, I was told it's fixed and to pick it up. I asked several times what was wrong with it and "Mel" told me it's something technical and that if it happens again to bring it back. I asked Mel again to please be more specific on what was wrong with it and he flatly refused to tell me. After several more attempts of inquiring on the repair he said there was a fuse repaired inside the machine.
No paperwork was given to me and no details. Mel kept saying that his corporate office told him to tell customers getting a repair that it's a technical issue and if it happens again to bring it back. He wouldn't even give me the phone # for his corporate office! I have never been treated so poorly!
They were happy to get my money (over $300) for the machine!
I would not recommend purchasing a Riccar vacume machine. The stores are independently owned so they can get away with poor customer service.
