Handyman David Parker in Newnan, GA - terrible!!! Do not hire him

My wife and I contacted a handyman to look over a leaky kitchen ceiling that was caused by the master bathroom directly above it. We enlisted the help of Mr. David Parker of Newnan, Georgia on 6/5/13. Mr. Parker suggested to my wife that he should cut *** in the adjacent bedroom closet, which is directly behind the sinks in the master bathroom. My wife insisted that the sinks were not the cause of the leaks. Under his persistence, she agreed for him to cut the holes with the agreement that there would be no charge if that wasn’t where the leak originated. He cut two holes in our wall and found no leak yet asked for $45 for his service call fee and for gas. My wife is not a confrontational person and reminded him that she should not be charged yet he persisted. So my wife wrote him a check for $45 and he left – without even patching up the holes or finding the origin of the leak! He stated that it's *** in the roof but our roof is only 2 years old so we knew that wasn't the cause of the leak, either. The following is a transcript of phone records: Date: 6/6/13 Time: 9:48AM Eastern Duration: 5 minutes 31 seconds The next day, 6/6/13, I contacted Mr. Parker and pretended to be a new client, asking him where he was located. He told me Newnan, GA. I then proceeded to tell him my name and that he just visited our house and his demeanor changed. I asked him what exactly did we purchase for $45 and he stated that it was his service fee, which is usually $55. We argued back and forth and when asked about the check, he stated "I done deposited it". He asked what did I want to do because he "don't want anyone feeling like they've been ripped off" so I asked for him to send me our check back. He again replied "I done deposited it" which is when I realized what he was saying. He said that he will write me a check and send it to us but keep in mind that he "gave" my wife a plastic zip-it tool used to unclog drains that's worth $5. I told him to just make the check out for $40. He said, "I'm not worried about that" in which I replied "then why did you mention it?” He asked if I was going to stop payment on the check that we gave him but I advised him that we would not because he is sending us a check. Date: 6/6/13 Time: 9:54AM Eastern Duration: 0 minutes 29 seconds He called back to ask what name to make the check out to and our address. I gave him my wife’s name and our address. Date: 6/6/13 Time: 10:21AM Eastern Duration: 0 minutes 24 seconds He stated that the check has been sent. I thanked him. ONE WEEK LATER – still no check received in the mail Date: 6/13/13 Time: 4:14PM Eastern Duration: 0 minutes 10 seconds He hung up on me after I said "in reference to a refund that we talked about last week". Date: 6/13/13 Time: 4:15PM Eastern Duration: 1 minute 13 seconds Since he did not answer, I left him a message and told him that I am giving him the benefit of the doubt and perhaps our line was accidentally disconnected. I advised him that I am a webmaster and that I have the power to post negative reviews on many websites regarding our experience with him. I also stated that before I do so, I would like to give him one last opportunity to rectify this situation. Date: 6/13/13 Time: 4:22PM Eastern Duration: 0 minutes 3 seconds I called one last time to see if he would answer my call. He did not. So today, 6/19/13, I have begun my process of posting negative reviews of this “handyman in newnan”. Any search engine for “handyman in newnan” will display one of the many negative reviews I am posting about Mr. David Parker. It’s not about the amount of money that we were ripped off, but more about how one business owner took our money and has cowardly avoided further communication with us to rectify the situation.
