Great Work but the Owner has no respect for his employees

Excellent work done by his interior guys.

I do have to complain and tell what I feel. Never, have I seen a business man talk so nasty and talk bad stuff about his staff.

He has no respect for them. About near a month ago, I hired Darling. During the course of the work, I overheard a conversation where Mr. Darling was talking down about one of his employees, putting them down- almost yelling at them.

In fact he proceeded to talk about another right after that. I would not have hired his company if I knew this is how he was toward his employees. Totally appalling. I just could not believe it.

There are other companies out there that have respect for their people. You advertise on T.V. like you are this great company when in all reality your not. The work that is done is completed by your employees.

Not once did you come and do anything other than estimate and then belittle your guys. Be ashamed of yourself. It's your employees that make you look good and put food in your mouth. I'm sure they don't see a fraction of your benefits.

Overworked, abused and under paid.

Frustrated customer. Never again.

Great Experience w/ Darling

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I hired Darling for painting my entire home (~ 1200sq ft) and exterior shutters (16). The job was done on time, actually a full day earlier than i expected, on budget and with the most fantastic project / site manager / supervisor I have had the pleasure to work with in over 30 years of moving and renovations.

(For me, as career military that's includes 18 moves and 7 remodels). First impressions matter to me --- and I was very pleased with the first face to face consultation with Bill. He listened to me and my concerns for the project and looked me in the eye and gave me lots of good options. The Darling team lead recommended a few different paint options and the ones that I selected were aligned with my budget, quality of work I wanted and need of the specific rooms (especially a heavily wallpapered / panel bathroom that was in need of a huge makeover.) All the paint and paint related products were fabulous and did the exact coverage and tone I wanted to set for each room.

(I had a total of 5 different products for walls / shutters.) The on the job team, led by Victor, was impressively organized and had to their own area of best practice that was very complementary to each other. The team rotated slightly depending on the needs of the project, but the core team of Victor and Kim (attention to details specialist !!!). Weather turned out to be a plus and minus --- a heavy rain day meant that the external workers were added to my interior job and helped my project's timelines. No wasted waiting times or down times because of forces outside our control.

Really liked that dynamic tasking and re-organization by Darling's leadership. Each day they cleaned up, stowed their gear in a non-interfering manner and made sure I had a function kitchen, bathroom, shower and sleeping area. (I had arranged to sleep and shower somewhere else but I didn't need to.) Victor and Kim --- and the other team members ensured the utmost care of my personal property and were very considerate of me and my home. The team's overall attention to detail, work ethic and considerable care truly impressed me.

I will have them back for the rest of my remodel including a garage, three porches and outbuildings. Thank you Darling --- and your fantastic team.

Darling Paint - House Painting Review

I went on Angie's list and they had Darling paint on their list. I hired darling paint to scrape and remove sprayed ceiling, and res pray and paint and also paint my walls.ten months later I notice the ceiling cracking and pealing at one end,and at the other end discoloration in several spots.

I called the company and they said they would send someone to look at it. At 7:20am the morning that someone from the company was coming the owner called me and said no way do they repair cracks.the person came and looked at it and said he would get back to me after he took pictures. The owner called me back and said I had a leak,I explained that there was a bedroom above, and there was no leak anywhere.Over the coarse of a week it became the weathers fault, that I must have a bathroom leak, even though my bathroom is on the first floor on the other side of the house,he then told me to call my insurance and put in a claim. I called the insurance and they said I do no have water damage and therefore cannot put in a claim for something I don't have.If they came out and there was no leak I would be written up for a false claim and the company would drop me.

I filed at the better business and this has been on going for weeks,he now claims its the moss on my porch roof, that is nowhere near the problem on the ceiling, this is a 16foot room, the problem is at one end and another at the other end. So far they have refused to do anything, the owner is very conformational, and condescending,he showed up at my home unannounced, and wanted to come in and look at the ceiling and wanted to go on my roof to inspect it.I refused to let him and his employee in as I was alone, and he was confrontational.

They painted and repaired a crack under each window and had to come back to redo it those cracks,I should have known then that the job and the products they use were substandard. I have gotten "no" help from the company or the BBB,I will never take a recommendation from Angie's list again,if they are going to recommend substandard companies, that do not back their workmanship.

Also, note that Kathleen and Darling Paint went to small claims, and after three different stories by Kathleen and her daughter, the judge sided with Darling Paint, as did the BBB.

Kimbella Rwa

Kathleen Birkman's texture work was done 10 months PRIOR her complaint. If the product were to fail, it would fail immediately, not 10 months later, after a week of record-breaking rain fall, which happened all over western New York.

This is a sign of water damage, and the fact that she has moss on her roof, doesn't help matters,a s it holds even more water. We have pictures of her roof, as well.

We called Kathleen SEVERAL times to come and look at her "concerns", yet she refused to call us back and meet with us. This was documented with the BBB.

We only stopped out, unannounced, because of the fact she refuses to take any calls regarding this "matter". She was extremely rude, when all we wanted was to see her issues, and get them resolved, if there were any.

Kathleen is simply looking to get a refund for absolutely nothing.

Darling Paint will always stand behind their work, which is why we are A+ members of the BBB.

The BBB, when contacted with any complaints, will give the contractor the opportunity to correct any problems. Kathleen has refused to show any problems, only insisting on a refund.

Sorry, Kathleen, but your work was fine, and your crack repairs held up, which is why you only complained about discoloring of your ceiling (water damage).

Don't forget, water will travel, eventually finding it's way (even through walls) to the lowest spot, where it will finally seep and discolor your ceiling. Kathleen Birkman gets an A for effort, though, in trying to get money back for another problem that she has (roof).
