Dallas Police Department

Im born and raised in Dallas,43 years and moved back home 2 years ago from a 3 year contract in Ftworth .This complaint is definitally not a one time experience.I work in the heart of the city on a daily basis and witness the mass percentage of officers behave in a hateful,angry,unprofessional manner.The disposition,behaviors of Bullys and Thugs.Almost blending in the the criminal element.They are rude with a chip on there shoulder and making intimidation and a nasty attitude a major priority.If as a civilian if you bring a concern or complaint they cant be bothered ,rude any will try to intimidate.Ive witnessed 2 officers literally walk by 2 guys at westcend station smoking weed and say"whats up bro"i was in shock!i know DPD are desperate for cops and pay low ,but these ppl.that are being hired are making reflecting on our residents,the reputation of a buetiful ,diverse,cultured,wonderful and mostly one of the fastest growing in the nation -around 15.000 a month.DPD has gone down hill and is sinking very fast.And the 911 employees dont fall far from the tree,thats a pretty sad situation as well.Being said i adore and love my city.Im proud to be a native ,i have police officers in my family nd was raised to have absolute respect and appreciation for each and every public servent.But this is out of control.A kind disposition,humility,integrity and mostly lacking professionalism is lacking on every level.Something major went wrong over the years and its really sad to watch,were dealing with some very angry ,bitter cops in Dallas.I pray in the future DPD can once again represent one of the Best Citys in the NationWill be reading this letter to review board in person as well.TY

My mom was in a car accident around 7:40 pm on 8/25/15. My sister got there and was still on the cell phone.

I could hear the guys cursing at my mom and my sister threatening them. I called the police in Arlington who transferred me to Dallas because the accident was in Dallas. I explained to them what I was hearing on the phone and asked them to send the police to the scene before something happened. I called while I was still in Arlington at home, drove to Dallas (which takes 40 minutes) and was told the police had just arrived as I was exiting the freeway.

The men had stuff in the car, yet the police didn't search their car until they had gotten all their "stuff" out and had left the scene. We asked for their drivers license and insurance information and was told "that information will be in the police report which you can get in 10 days." We don't know their name or anything except for a license plate number because my sister and I took a picture of it. I'm EXTREMELY disappointed with the way Dallas Police handled this. The driver apparently didn't have his insurance card according to what my sister overheard.

Yet no ticket was written.

The policy need to change regarding the way accidents are handled in Dallas. It was QUITE obvious that he was speeding when he hit her considering the car spun around and he hit her a second time.

Was pulled over for a head light in August. Poilice asked where I was and I told them I was at a bar. Told them I had 3 beers within 5 hours after eating a large pizza. They asked for me to step out of my car to do field test. These rookie cops said they though I was drunk so they brought me in Lew Garrett. I passed my breathalyzer and blood test and yet they still charged me, took my finger prints and mug shots and locked me up. It was and has been humiliating they treat people sub human and I saw a mentaly handicap guy mocked and verbally abused by the jail gaurds. I had to pay a lawyer with money I did not have. I have never been in trouble before. They are offering obstruction but still that will be probation I have to pay and a 700 dollar ticket. My other option is to pay my lawyer more with money I don't have to fight the dwi and be in front of a jury of 6 who still could charge me.

Why cant the city of Dallas own up to their mistakes and just drop it? I guess because they are greedy and want to make up for the lack of state taxes.

Why do I have to pay for a rookie cops mistakes. It may be a notch on their belt but it affects my life in a negative way. Nothing can take away the depression, hopeless, shame, debt, lack of trust of police and Dallas authorities this has caused me.

I once was just a law abiding citizen who believed the cops were heroes who wanted to protect and serve the city and its citezens. Now I think they are crooked and money collectors for the city of Dallas at the expense of innocent tax paying citizens who pay their salary.

It is NOT innocent till proven guilty...it is guilty till proven innocent and unless your rich or know someone you will probably be falsely accused of being guilty.

FIRST OF ALL LET ME START OFF BY SAYING THIS IS NOT HEARSAY.I RETIRED FROM THE CITY OF DALLAS SOME YEAR'S AGO AND I AM AWARE OF WHAT DPD WILL DO.SO THEREFORE I SINCERELY HOPE THE DEPARTMENT WILL STAND UP AND BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR WHAT TOOK PLACE WHEN AN DPD OFFICER STRUCK AND KILLED AN WOMAN ON BRUTON ROAD.NUMBER ONE IN ORDER TO CAUSE THE TYPE OF DAMAGE THAT WAS DONE TO THE POLICE VEHICLE.THE DPD OFFICER HAD TO BE SPEEDING.NOW WHAT EVER ELSE THIS OFFICER WAS DOING NO ONE WILL EVER KNOW.AS TO WHY?HE OR SHE DID NOT SEE THE WOMAN CROSSING THE STREET.I HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF SEEING DPD TURN ON THEIR LIGHT'S JUST TO GO INTO WILLIAMS CHICKEN.THIS IS ABUSE ON DPD PART.THEY SHOULD WAIT ON THE LIGHT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.I EVEN WITNESS DPD JUMP A CURB AND HIT A WOMAN WAITING TO CROSS THE STREET SOME YEAR'S BACK.THEY ALWAY'S FIND SOMEWAY TO GET OUT OF THE SITUATION.AND WHEN THEY DO NOT GET OUT OF THE SITUATION THEY TRY TO FIND FAULTY WITH THE PERSON THEY HAVE WRONGED.DPD NEED'S TO SCREEN THEIR OFFICER BETTER.MOST OF THE DPD OFFICER'S HAVE AS MANY PROBLEM'S AS THE MOST COMMON PERSON DOES.I UNDERSATAND THEY TO ARE HUMAN.BUT MY GOD .THESE OFFICER'S ARE PLACED HERE TO PROTECT US NOT HARM US.A LOT OF TIME'S KNOW ONE WANT'S TO MINGLE WITH DPD BECAUSE INSTEAD OF MAKING THE SITUATION BETTER THEY MAKE IT WORSE THAN IT WAS IN THE BEGINNING.DPD IS SUPPOSE TO HELP THE CAUSE.MORE PEOPLE WOULD RESPECT DPD MORE IF THEY WERE MORE HONEST AND STRAIT FORWARD.NOW HOW CAN A PERSON TELEPHONE DPD FOR HELP,AND END UP THE PERSON ON THE SHORT END OF THE STICK.I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT WOULD OFFER TO ASSIST DPD IF THEY WERE NOT AFRAID OF THE OUT COME,I AM NOT SPEAKING OF THOSE WHO ARE COMMON LAW BREAKER'S.BUT THESE ARE GOOD LAW ABIDING PEOPLE.EVERYONE IS NOT A CROOK.ONCE I WAS GETTING OFF WORK.AND I WAS JUST DRIVING DOWN LAGOW STREET I HAD JUST PURCHASED A NEW VEHICLE.AND I PASSED THIS DPD OFFICER GOING DOWN LAGOW STREET TOWARD HATCHER AND I WAS GOING TOWARD THE FAIR PARK.I SAW THE OFFICER TURN AROUND IN THE STREET ALL MOST HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE.I KEPT DRIVING BECAUSE I WAS GOING HOME.THIS OFFICER FOLLOWED ME AS IF I WAS NOT AWARE SHE WAS BEHIND ME.I MADE NO SUDDEN TURN'S KEPT THE SPEED LIMIT.DO YOU KNOW THIS OFFICE CHASED ME INTO MY DRIVEWAY.WHEN I STEPPED OUT OF MY VEHICLE AND THE OFFICER SAW MY CITY OF DALLAS BADGE.SHE WAS SO OUT DONE TIL SHE COULD DO NOTHING BUT DROP HER HEAD.WHILE SHE WAS TRYING TO GET BACK INTO THE POLICE VEHILCE,I ASKED HER WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS.ALL SHE COULD SAY WAS HAVE A GOOD DAY.AND THE MAN OFFICER WAS LAUGHING AT HER.THIS GOES TO SHOW YOU HOW DPD OPERATE.BECAUSE I WAS BLACK AND IN A NEW VEHICLE SHE JUST TOOK FOR GRANTED THEIR WAS SOME TYPE OF PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE.BLACK PEOPLE HAVE NICE THING'S ALSO.PAY THE FAMILY FOR THE *** OFFICER'S MISTAKE.HE OR SHE TOOK A LIFE.
