Custom USB
Got Ripped off!
I can't complain about the way these look, they look great. The issue that we're having is that we paid for USB storage of 1GB, instead what we got were a bunch of USB devices with storage of 952 MB to 953 MB.
These are for promotional purposes for our business and we load them with promotional material for our customers. Now we cannot do that because all of the information won't fit on to the USB drives that are less than 1GB.
A complete waste of money. I would recommend them, but I would definitely makes sure you have the storage capacity you paid for!
Customusb.com - won't pay for their mistakes
Again, them showing the link with the dimensions shows how they miss the point. The order was done with a customer service person on the phone. Doesn\'t matter what\'s on the site now.
If you order a custom usb at customusb.com, make sure to go over your order in detail and have everything in writing. I called up asking for a quote to a specific model and size.
The sales person convinced me to "upgrade" to the chrome version of the model. I agreed. First they messed up the engraving and tried to make me accept it. I refused and they eventually agreed to redo.
Then two weeks later, finally get my order and the usb are half the size of the original model and size I ordered. The chrome was an "upgrade" they suggested over the phone, how would I be aware of any size difference.
Since it was not documented in an email, I spent $1300 on these mini *** usb I can't use. Great!

They look great, but so far every single one of the USB's I ordered were supposed to be 1GB, instead they are all either 952 MB or 953 MB. Some of them aren't even formatted correctly. Would recommend making sure you have the correct amount of storage for what you paid for!
There is no such thing as a full 1GB USB (or what you think to be 1000 MB), computers calculate on base 2 and to them, 1KB is actually 1024 bytes, 1MB is 1024KB, 1GB is 1024MB, and so on. This difference in the method of computation is responsible for this "missing space."
Obviously that is the rebuttal they gave, and I understand why they refuse to take ownership. Though the comment "was provided a website link to both models where he could view product specifications as well as physical size." is a complete lie.
Sure sizes are published but while on the phone with the sales person, I was advised only to click on the image of the chrome model vs the image of the regular model I was currently viewing.
There was no sending me links, saying to review specs, etc. The only conversation was "would you like standard or chrome?"
We build custom products based on specifications provided by the customer. Our project management approach is consultative and extremely involved. In this case, the customer mentioned he liked a specific model and our sales representative recommended a different model. The customer was provided a website link to both models where he could view product specifications as well as physical size. Upon approval from the customer to proceed with the suggested model, we produced the drives. Specific size requirements were not mentioned during phone or email conversation.
Size of drive the customer liked: 2.17" x 0.63" x 0.35"
Size of drive we suggested as alternative: 1.82" x 0.59" x 0.27"
The size difference is less than 0.25" (not half, as indicated in customer's review). Final product delivered was in fully functioning condition with correct engraving.
