Builder increased price after signed contract and keeps deposit
- - We deposited $5,000 with Curington and have no refund.
- - Price rose by over $6,500 after signing.
- - We were told there were no extra costs.
After supplying Curington Contractors Inc. with a $5000 deposit, HOA information and signing a contract they increased the price to build by over $6500.
In doing so we could no longer afford to build. During the signing of the contract the builder was asked if there would be any additional costs. We were told "No". Curington then blamed the additional cost on us due to our lot that they had already reviewed The contract was signed weeks after the initial meeting thus giving them enough time to put together a price.
We only found out about the price increase during casual conversation on a day we were to pick out colors. We were also told that we thought you could afford it since you were asking for prices on additional upgrades.
What was to be a pleasant experience turned out to be stressful and upsetting. Now Curington refuses to refund our deposit.
