Cubify 3d Systems - 3D Printer Cartridge Review from New York, New York
My overall experience with Cubify was disgusting. I have had a lot of experience with dealing with different support services and this is by far the worst.
To start, I ordered a overpriced filament cartridge in mid October to test it out before buying a printer from them. I called them multiple times asking where it was and I got the same apoplectic excuses saying that they would email their shipping department. I got the cartridge in mid February and by the time I got it, I knew that I would never be buying anything from them again.
There customer service is rude and they quite frankly don't care about their customers. When 3d systems fails, I will not be suprised...

Verified ReviewerResolved: Cubify 3D Systems their moto should be "I'm afraid we have a no refund policy."
I Ordered my printer in a "package".
Upon completion of the order I receive an Email stating it would ship on "this" date. Well that date came a 2 days later I call them and then the information on my order status (on their webpage) changed say it would be to me on "this" date.
Well I got it, and to make a REALLY long story short, I received 5 cartridges with my "package" ($1700.00 package), all 5 failed within a week and all had over 65% still in them.
They gladly sent me two replacements to see if it was the printer or the cartridges. They failed in 2 day. One with 95% and the other with 62% still in them.
I told them just provide me an address that I can send this thing back and get my money back. They said "I'm afraid we have a no refund policy." Yeah I am screwed!! I now have a $1700.00 desk lamp!!!
They have NEVER asked me to ship the cartridges back for them to check and see what is wrong with them. I currently have a "warranty slip" in with them for all five (plus the two they sent me) cartridges.
The thing that is so bad about this is they fail with no warning!! I was 10 hours and 35 minutes into a 11 hour and 45 minute print and the thing fail!!! No resume option when they fail either!
- Replaced the defective cartridges
- Extended delivery date
- No refund for defective product
- Does not work

Reinstalled Cubify Design after Windows Re-install and am not able to get a key to re-activate the software
I bought Cubify Design in January 2014 from a reseller here in the Uk called: RoutOut CNC.
I have had to re-install windows more than once since originally installing the software and had not had the software installed for some months.
Now that I wish to re-install it I find that when I login in to my account at Cubify it shows me as not owning any software and so I can not get a key to reactivate it.
I have emailed Cubify several times - they answered the first time inquiring about the vendor details, but after subsequent emails from me with vendor details, order number etc they have chosen not to respond.
They seem to have a reputation for amazingly capable software at an incredible cost but from my opinion to pay over £150 for software which is unusable is absolutely not a bargain.
I have tried finding a contact telephone number for them but surprise surprise I can't find one.
I don't know if they are deliberately dishonest or just very incompetent but the effect is the same - they (or their re-sellers) have taken my money and not provided me with what I wanted.
I like the software but I would not recommend anyone to buy Cubify's products or software as I have very good reason as to doubt their legitimacy!!!
- Does not work
- Unprofessional staff
Preferred solution: Immediate solution to my problem i.e. allow me to be able to use the software that I LEGALLY purchased or if not immediate a show of faith with offering me a superior replacement product.

13Nov14, I ordered and they immediately charged my PayPal for my merchandise (3D printer and print cartridges totaling ~$1,600). Website said it was in stock and would ship in 3-5 days.
19Nov14, I inquired because nothing shipped. They responded same day and I was told it would ship in one week. I noticed my order detail says all items should ship by November 20th.
28Nov14, I inquired again because nothing shipped.
29Nov14, They said they would check for new information and get back to me.
04Dec14, I inquired a third time because they didn't get back to me. They responded same day and said they could get no new information. Really?
07Dec14, Still no change to the order status and I file a non-receipt of goods dispute at PayPal (They have had my money for 25 days for something that was suppose to ship in 3-5 days).
08Dec14, They respond through the PayPal portal that my order will ship in one week.
Yeah ... I just told them to cancel my order and refund my money. I'm not sure I really want to do business with a company that merely deceives you and then thinks you are gullible enough to fall for the same placating statements twice.
This is not how your professionally operate a business.
It's a pity.

If you pay, you're a client, not a beta tester
So disappointed. On the paper it was supposed to be the best machine!
First there are totally lying on their website about the delivery time (and they know it!), we got our machine 2 months late.
Then we spent our time troubleshooting and trying to fix everything. Nothing is working properly: software for Mac is bad, never been able to get a piece printed in 70 microns, never, last time I tried it clogged a cartridge again.
We have now 8 cartridges almost full that are useless.
This product has been my biggest disappointment and there is no refund policy, just an exchange for 90 days...
Feel not only I've been paying to be a beta tester, but I've been totally robbed. I'll be happy to provide any feedback at info@***r-jewelry.com

Verified Reviewer | San Diego, CaliforniaCubify's Cube 3d printer sucks. Their customer service is worse, the Cubify market place is a scam, and their business model is a disaster.
Don't buy a CubeX or a Cube-anything. Cubify has many huge flaws (faulty printjet, hair trigger thermal fuse, excessively fragile temperature sensor, bug-filled software, increasingly limiting firmware updates, insulting customer service, etc etc. But if you are considering getting anything from Cubify, even if you got a product that works (hypothetically, of course), please understand the horrible ***-raping that is given in the form of proprietary filament cartridges. The company has invested money and time into this strategy to make it more expensive (average about 7x more expensive) for the material used to print (ABS or PLA). This should be a clear sign of the lack of integrity of this company. If the cartridge concept had any benefit, or even if it attempted to solve a common problem associated with filament spooling, then maybe, MAYBE this would be excusable. But the cartridges offer NO BENEFIT to the user. NONE. And to make matters worse, these expensive-*** cartridges jam almost ALL the time. And if it jams on the first print, then you all you have is a $50 token to remind you that you are Cubify's ***.
Please for the love of whatever, just imagine the scenario of trying to get your printer to just print your *** pencil holder cup (or your non-circular gears that spin and drive other gears, causing them to spin which also allows the teeth in the first gear to be pushed along resulting in more spinning, which could be amazing, except it jams because of the resolution of your Cube blows). And after waiting months for the printer to arrive from Cubify, you set it up, and it starts printing! and then it stops and says filament flow fail. But your persistent, because this is gonna be the device that lets you make other devices, right? So, not even the next 5 or six filament flow fails deter you from your mission. After all, you have pencils just strewn about, all over your desk, and you wont be able to sleep if they aren't collected and displayed in a neon green plastic cup that you designed on your $1,000+ computer so you could print it on your $2,000 printer with your $50 cartridge. Sure, you could have used an old coffee mug, and so what if your print looks like something your 4 year old made in sunday school with the clay-dough when she was supposed to be modeling biblical figures. But that's beside the point. And now, holy *** it's working. The print job is not getting aborted. You don't know why it's working now, or why it failed 9 times before. You didn't do anything different, but whatever, it's f#&king working! Your 9 hour print only has 27 minutes left. So sweet. You did it, you're 3d printing now, and just as you're about to give credit and thanks to some religious deity that your family pressures you to praise, but you avoided because it seemed so "cult-like", just then, the print bed drops and the print jet retracts and slides to the side to rest and cool. WTF? You give the filament a gentle tug... jammed.
This will happen. Almost word for word. And you will feel shame, then disappointment, then violent rage and anger toward cubify, and then hilarity, and then shame again. When your emotions plateau, you can contact cubify's support team and they can tell you that you were doing it wrong, or the humidity in the air was too high and caused your ABS to lose it's density, etc. Most likely, they will give you a small nugget of truth and inform you that your printjet is faulty, and you should buy a new one from their site. Meanwhile your family has become distant because you haven't showered for days, and your boss stopped calling to see why you haven't shown up to work. In the ultimate act of defeat, you collect your *** pencils and place them in the pencil holder cup that you constructed by hot-gluing all the pieces from the failed print jobs, and you retreat to the darkness of your hall closet so that you can cry yourself into a treacherous shame spiral. Only to emerge back into the world weeks later, as a bitter, hate-filled, spirit-crushed shell of a man, with a new, undying resentment towards the world.
And this, this is how a&$h0le$ are made. Thanks corporate whatever, for whatever and stuff.
Extended Lead time
I placed an order on 07.11.2014 and on the site it was indicated that it would ship to us in South Africa on the 17.11.2014. It never did ship on that date, I was not notified of this.
I have now sent numerous emails, but I am still waiting for an answer. No one can give me an actual date, I just get told they are working on it as they have a backlog of orders.
I would never have placed an order it them had I known it was going to take this long. I have been given Michael Allen as a contact so I can speak to a manager, but he never seems to be available.

No return policy
I ordered a 'package deal', including a Cube 3 printer, scanner and 2 software packages. 6 months later, the printer still isn't available and I tried the scanner and it's complete ***.
Checked the internet reviews and apparently nobody can get the Sense scanner to work. But, they still sell it. So, I asked Cubify to refund my scanner and cancel my printer order. No way.
Even though I ordered a 'package deal' and they sent me bits here and there. No refunds, even on the scanner which doesn't work at all. Do not buy anything from Cubify. That's my advice.
It might be a little more, but choose Makerbot. Cubify is useless and corrupt.
Preferred solution: Full refund
Print job aborted
luckily I bumped into this exchange before losing more money on a print head assembly. I bought it online, there was no mention about shipping costs. I live in Egypt and got a shipping charge equal to what I paid for the machine + custom duties + VAT.
2 jobs then repeatedly a message of "print job aborted": no explanation why it aborted. Contacted support to send the unit for repair….was informed they had no repair facility!
Explained the problem, at least they sent me a .ppt on how to dismantle and unclog the print head. Spent the time and had everything completely cleared thinking that was the end of the story. Started a new print job which again aborted, disassembled again only to find the filament clogged again. Obviously the print jet did not heat enough. Finally gave up and called them they told me nothing could be done to increase the temperature and responded to my request to buy a new print head with a link that would cost me an additional $269 (+,+). I was about to go ahead then I thought of checking whether others had any of these problems.
The device is a total failure…. money wasted and bad reputation for the whole RP small consumer industry.
Touch screen failure and telephone liars
I followed all the directions that was provided on the oversized instruction card board. At number 17 on the instruction The touch screen quit after the jet wiper was installed.
I called cubify and they said to unplug it and press the on button at the same time I plugged it to the electricity. After several repeated phone calls to the support team, who everyone of them gave different instruction, I asked for a refund. They sai it was the touch screen and it would take a week for a new one to be sent.
One week later they told me it was out of stock. They refused a refund.
Should I buy a CubeX 3D Printer
My new YouTube video is as entertaining as watching paint dry. However it is an accurate and honest review.
Show your support by going to youtube and watching it ( please try not to fall asleep ) and click the like button. Believe me when I tell you how bad the consumer is being taken advantage of. Help me stop Them. My intention for creating this video is to help inform those who are trying to find a reliable and easy to use desktop 3d printer.
Watch out, people are trying to off load there cubex on ebay.
Their selling them as condition new because their barely used. But don't let that fool you.
These are frustrated customers trying to recoup some of their money back. You will be taking a great risk if you purchase the cubex on ebay even if the price looks amazing.?
Cubify not going as planned
I've had a reprap which gave me issues, I thought that hey "I'm too *** for this" and sold it to the first person I found.
Then I bought a Cubify thinking "this is probably for *** people like me". Boy was I right. it costed 1599 dollar, then another 300 dollar for the transport and then 300 dollar more for the taxes, so 2200 dollar. Oh, I forgot the filament. so 2400 dollar.
When it finally was in my room, I opened it upside down. But hay, I don't mind, I'm obviously the *** guy. Then I put it on the table. I couldn't start printing straight away, I was forced to insert some kind of code, because in order to just USE it I had to connect to the internet, get in to my account, insert some code or acquire some code from there, can't remember any longer. And then voilla, it worked. then I had to attatch some "magic glue" as they call it. and whamm, it started printing.
*The warping were intense(warping means the edges bend up because of the temperature difference and the bad grip it has towards the glass plate)
*The magnet attatched to the glass almost fell off, having it attatched to its socket where it is supposed to be is not perfect so it is constantly pulling itself off, so now I need to have it rotated 90 degrees when I'm not using it.
*The printer jet clogged, so I had to open the jet head up, realize I need a hex key, go to the store next day to buy that *** tool, unlock everything, get a needle to pull up one tiny filament that got lost in there, and it got lost in there because of a cartridge that I inserted had inside of its own spool gotten entangled in itself. So it kept on grabbing -> grabbing -> clogging. - Thanks to the cartridge getting entangled it said I had used up all my filament, without any filament you can't print. So there I had a full cartridge, not able to use at all.
*I look on the internet for some "cartridge ***" find this guy using some cartridge -> swapping it out for the empty one while it is mid-printing, I was thinking "hmmm... either that or I need to cut off some wires and reprogram the whole chip, nah I rather just order a cartridge", I had pla and abs so I got both. this cost me another 150 dollar.
*The *** did not work so right now I'm sitting with a cubify, 100% working but with 3 total cartridges that are full, I can only use 2, and I got 2kg of filament next to me from the old printer.
I should have bought the 3D printer called "Anifia" cause this one blows.
This is definetly one of my lifes greatest regrets. If I had cubify's manager infront of me I would beat him with his own product until he would fall to the ground and *** himself. - I am not a violent person.

Verified Reviewer | New York, New YorkStay Clear of Cubify
Do not waste your money on this product! I recently purchased this item and it worked well for the first three prints.
Afterwords the machine ceased to heat up. Andrew Peterson of their Customer Support team gave me several runarounds ranging from downloading hard to find drivers to restarting it. It was obviously a mechanical issue with the printer itself. Andrew then emailed explaining I should buy a new one one.
Note, the printer is less than one year old. If you purchase and item with cartridges for over $1700 you would expect to do what it's supposed to do or have it replaced.
Stay clear of Cubify!
Cubify 3D printer
I bought a cubify 3D printer directly from the company, based in USA (I live in Europe). It worked 4-5 times (very low quality compared to the shown works on the website), then failed. The company told me it was "just" clogged and that I could "easily" repare myself. But the machine really didn't not work anymore, and they didn't want to repare it. I finally decided to send it back and here is the mail I received after asking some news :
"We did not authorize this return and advised you to have the machine returned to your location. We cannot be responsible for lost machines when we do not authorize the return.
Thanks!
Michael Allen | Cubify Customer Support
Email: cubifysupport@***.com | Web: www.cubify.com | "
That's their way to solve a problem ! All together this 3D printer cost me more than 2000 $ : the machine, ABS filament, VAT, transport (400 $ to send it back by DHL !) and... all that money vanished because they didn't "authorize" me to complain ! I wish them good luck to stay in the business. Crooks...

Verified Reviewer | Los Angeles, CaliforniaCubify won't accept return of unwanted (and unopened) gift.
My wife purchased me a Cube (3D printer) for my birthday.
I love the idea of this device (I'm a geek at heart) but I simply don't have time to immerse myself in another hobby.
So, no problem, it arrived yesterday and it's unopened, right? I'll just return it.
WRONG.
First off, I can't ring customer service: they hide behind an IVR. Then, when I email for info on how to do a return, they advise that these aren't allowed -- not even for unopened items.
Is this really the 21st Century?
Why on earth can I not return an unopened item?
