On 7/14 my husband and I waited for over 2 1/2 hours at the port in Civitavecchia Rome to board our honeymoon cruise. His first cruise.
Only to find out we were not registered with MSC for this cruise although I had confirmation emails from cruisedirect and had called cruisedirect for confirmation as well.
All was supposedly set until we arrived. Over 2.5 hours later and a phone call overseas to cruisedirect (had to wait for NY office to open since I was in Rome and time difference)
Finally after a very stressful time in the port with no help from MSC and little help from Cruisedirect we were able to pay again for the cruise at a higher rate and board the ship with only ten minutes to spare before ship departed.
Once on board ship because of the error on cruisedirect fault, we had to re-register for meals and lost our second seating request, our inquiries for tours at the stops was lost, and throughout the cruise I had to go to customer service at least 3x to re-instate and prove I was in fact on board and had an account overall it was a terrible experience caused in part by Cruisedirect and also MSC cruise line
