How do I find out if my cruise is a scam?

Hi-I booked a cruise a while ago and would like to depart in the 6th of April. I paid 200 dollars a while back and now they want 300 per person for taxes and such.

I did not know that this might be a scarm until I tried to find out more information on line and by calling them.Am I being scamed? I have not paid the 300 per person yet. I am bringing my sister who is currently going through a nasty divorce.

I do not want to dissapoint her but I do not want to be out the money either. Please advise

Cruise and land promotions is a scam, they will rip you off as well

cruise and land promotions, will miss lead you, offer you a cruise for $ 186.00 for 2 people, and when you go to book cruise they make you up grade

adding another $ 600.00 dollars to the cost (beware) I tried to book in the winter, still had to up grade, the sales people are rude and lie to you

we need to file a class action lawsuit. for miss leading you by the sale people. after paying $ 93.00 dollars per person, up front, they state, no other charges, they add $ 99.00 dollar surcharge, plus booking and port fees

totaling over $ 600.00 dollars additional fees

They are trying to do the same thing to my mom. I called them today and asked them why they were charging more then the cruise line.

The guy on the other end was getting agitated.

He said they weren't. It is a scam!!

They lie to get your money, then they won't refund when you catch on to what they are up to.

This company advertises cruises for $ 93.00 per person for 4/5 nite crusies. When you go to book the cruise later on they start adding port fees, ticket fees, booking fees.

I specifically asked if I would be able to cruise for $ 93.00 and they bladently lie to me and said absolutely. No other charges are even mentioned. When I contacted them about a refund they were extremely rude (downright ugly)and flat refused any refund. Do not waste your money on this.

I have filed a complaint with the BBB, also. I want by money back and I'll go away.

Cruise and land promotion they charged me for a cruise for 2. now their # is disconnected.

I paid for a cruise for two. I paid I think $92.00 per person.

They said I was reponsible for port fees and taxes. They said they could offer that deal deal because the cruise ships wanted to be filled. They kept trying to get me to get friends to go at the same price, for a limited time only, and then they extended that. They told me to pick 2 dates 6 months apart.

which I did. They contacted me and said the 1st date was not available. The sec. date was in August, and I have yet to hear from them.

I called the # and it is disconnected. What a scam.

Land and Cruise Promotions are scammers--beware

I have attempted to contact Land and Cruise Promotions several times and I have yet to hear from them. My next step is to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the state of Texas professional regulation department.

They are a rip off and should be stopped!

I want my money back and I will continue to write on every website I can find to voice my complaints!!

I am still waiting to receive a phone call back--I have had to depend on e-mail because their phone cuts off after one ring. I want my money back now!!!

Cruise and Land Promo-they lie to get you to buy and send more people to buy

Cruise and Land Promo are liars. They may be a ligit company but they deceive you by telling you lies.

They wait long enough to send you the information to ensure that the "dispute" period with your credit card company is over with.

None of their letters have company letterhead on them...wonder why? Your date choice is never confirmed until you call them since you didn't hear from them only to find out that the cost to board the ship is now going to be 3-4 times what they had told you when you were considering buying in to their "free cruise".

Unable to contact anyone with this company no answer on all numbers

I've made several attempts to contact this company. When you call 877-264-**** it tells you that all staff is in a seminar.

When I call these numbers 866-234-****/630-389-**** it rings about two times and starts beeping as if the phone hung up. When I call this 877-862-**** no longer in service, so I'm unable to get in touch with this company. I purchased 4 ticket to go on a cruise with a guy name Harry. After reading the complaint on your website I now realize this is a scam.

Is there anything you can do to help me get my money back. My name is Veronica Thomas (richardsonvst@***.com)

Crusie and Land Promo: Poor Service/Scam

Wow.... When its too good to be true, it usually is.

Cruise and Land Promotios got me for $93 and then wanted to charge an additional $171. The cruise award is misleading and their customer service is severly poor. Christina, was so rude. She laughed as if she had reached in my purse and took my $ herself.

Compainies like this should not exist, and I feel sorry for the lame employees they have that can not find more meaningful work.... SMH.... Im out $93 but its a lesson learned!

BBB complaint on the way! Calling my bank to report fraud as well, so I can get my $ back!

Guest

Thank you for everyone's input. I just got a call and immediately did an online search for such an existing company when I placed Samantha on hold, but I couldn't find anything other than all these and many more posts about such promotion.

When I asked for detailed info about the company, I didn't get anything. I couldn't get anything in writing and they wanted my credit card right away, saying there's no call back number because it's a 1 time promotion and I was the lucky winner. I then asked if I was the lucky winner, wouldn't you have info on me that I completed already but Samantha said no, since I pressed 1 to speak to the next customer service. Luckily, I did not give out any info b/c she just didn't seem legit to me after not having any of my questions answered.

Don't give out your info and just hang up on these calls everyone.

Guest

Yep, it's a scam.

Last night (after 10pm) received an automated message saying I won a cruise from a recently filled out contest entry form. I decided to listen to what they had to say (bad idea and a waste of time) and when the guy got on the line the story was suddenly different -- cruises ships had a lot of openings due to the recession and the cruse companies wanted to fill their ships by giving out free cruises and then make money with the purchases cruisers make on-board.

Furthermore, his pushy sales tactics and constant requests to get a name/address/billing info to cover "taxes" was a big red flag that it was a scam. If I'd won because of an entry form that I filled out he wouldn't have had to ask for my name and address, which fortunately I did not give him. When asked if I could think about it and call him back he said it was a one day deal.

Wait, wasn't this supposed to be a call to claim a prize, not to purchase a deal. I finally told him I wasn't interested because it sounded like a scam, at which point he hung up on me.

Guest

Got this attempted scam call tonight. Definitely a scam! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.

Guest

This is STILL happening! I wish I would have looked into it prior to booking 2 trips.

But glad I looked into it before booking my parents and a few friends as well! I am very disappointed in myself for believing that this was an actual promotion.

Thank you for all the information, I am going to try to get my money back now. :cry

Guest

OMG. This happened to me!

I have never seen anything like this in my life... A totally criminal company!!! Christina, the sales rep. is an absolute horrible women...

she was talking over me, claiming to "not hear me" and was beyond disrespectful. They are nothing but thugs. And you cant track these ring worms down by phone as so many of these people said. Their scam is they tell you you won a cruise then charge you for it and claim it was a "promotional price all along." My blood boils.

And I still in the process to clear the charge with my bank. Please, help me with advice dealing with Bank of America for this type of claim.

Guest

Yes, they are definitely a scam, we bought 8 tickets at $93 dollars each and they want $322 per person to go on the cruise, we waited almost a year for the date and their customer service is totally unacceptable too. Don't ever Use Premium Cruise Award

Guest

Thanks for this post. I also got a call from these travel company types and they asked for $100 in advance.

I was about to believe them until I arrived at this site and now I know what answer to give them. :)

Thanks guys !

Guest

this info is of good use to file my fraud dispute. thank u for taking the time to post all the numbers etc.

Guest

Don't be pulled in by this scam. I consider myself pretty smart as a traveler and still got sucked in.

We took the bait and booked 14 people at $93 dollars a piece. I then sent in my paperwork, USPS registered, return receipt. It never came back. I called the company numerous times beginning Friday afternoon until Monday afternoon.

No call back. I went to the website and sent an email that could never be completed because the mailbox would not accept was not legitimate. They have an F rating on the Better Business Bureau. They have different numbers coming out of Houston, Texas and Batavia, Illinois.

I finally reported all of this to my A.T. & T. MasterCard and they were able to get me a refund. Phone numbers are (281) 617-****, (630) 326-****, (877) 222-****, (877) 264-****, (877) 254-****.

They go by the names of Cruise and Land Promotions, Travel Services and Travel Services Network.

The addresses are 222 State St., Batavia, IL 00510 and 2630 Fountain View Dr. Suite 140, Houston, TX 77057.

DON'T GET SUCKED IN TO THEIR SCAM!!

Cruise And Land Promotion Employees SUCK!!!!!!!!

I was screwed over by human beings that I can't believe they can categorize themselves as that. I trusted them and what they were saying as well as how they were saying things....

I guess it was my fault for thinking that talking to as many people as I did, and the mail I received was trustworthy... Guess not, some people are better LIARS then I thought!!!!!

The world CAN be an ugly place... and it was today!!!!!! ON MY ANNIVERSARY TO SAY THE LEAST!!!

BUT... it will be better tomorrow~ I don't understand how people like that sleep at night, but some how and at this very moment I DON'T KNOW WHY I still love the human being... hate their action towards me!

I would not recommend anyone to buy this cruise. First of all its very hard to get the dates you request.

They said if i gave them 2 sets of dates i'd get one of them. I didn't get eith one, it took me 4 dates to get something i wanted. And i needed to keep follwing up. Second you may pay $93 first but you have to make a large payments later.

I was charged pe person $125 port tax, then $99 booking fee, and then a $70 advance upgrade fee. So all together 400 (where's the good deal)? These were not well communicated.

And when i asked multiple agents when i was buying the cruise how much additional it would cost me they kept on saying "its hard to predict". Its best to buy cruise online from a reputable site, when you actually want to go.

Guest

Don't buy these, they are a total rip off, we bought 8 tickets, now they want $322 per person more yeah right! Their customer service is atrocious too. Their sale people LIE!

Guest

they stoled my family's money.

Guest

How come nobody sues these people? I want to see a case where a costumer wins!

I bought 3 tickets form them for $93/person. Now they want more money. Port fee + ticketing fee.

What a ***is that? At least I learned....NEVER buy like this again!

Guest

I am trying to get my money back. They strung me along until it was too late to get my money back from the credit card company.

DO NOT do business with these people. I went through the bbb and they said to sue them in small claims court. If I have to I will.

These people have lied from the beginning. At least I have a witness that heard their lies.

Guest

This "Jrodriguez" person works for the company and is trying to get people to believe it is not a scam... and the comment directly after is the same person.

You can tell because the posts are only a few minutes apart. Coincidence?

Hmmmm no. And of course he/she throws in a few curse words and misspells things to try and sounds like a joe shmoe but it's just another piece of scam artistry.

Guest

This company IS a scam! Trust me, I have done my research as well as called the Better Business Bureau.

When you google "Cruise and Land Promotions" the first suggestion it gives you is cruise and land promotions scam.

I wish I still had their number so I could call and torment them. The man told me they had been sending people on cruises for over 15 years and yet the BBB had never heard of this company and when I gave them the address of the company they said it was a fake suite number in the building they claim to be in.

Guest

you all are missing a good thing...NOT everyone is out to scam you..!!!..this company isn\'t a freaken scam..what idiots u all are...

Guest

your husband didn't make a mistake..this irate guy cant even specify what was wrong with his cruise..!!!..i have already took my family on our cruise..you will enjoy it...promise..all these people do is fill up emlty cabins on the cruise ships..they are contracted by the cruise lines..it's like getting a free room in las vegas, of course they are hoping you are gonna drink your *** off so they can make some money off you..

Just got a call from 708-613-**** claiming to be Travel Services NEtwork. I heard the sales pitch and told him I was skeptical but wanted to check him out on web.

He gave me his website but I went to google and found these postings. He answered truthfully as to port charges being $200+ per person. He said he had no problem waiting as I went to the web. When I said I was not comfortable moving forward, rep hung up on me.

Seems like a call room center. I thought this was illegal since my number is on DO NOT CALL REGISTRY.

I was very close to buying. Thankfully I did not.

Guest

WE ALSO PAID THE 98 DOLLARS FOR TWO PEOPLE AND THEN WERE TOLD A YEAR LATER WHEN WE HAD LESS THAN A MONTH UNTIL WE WERE SUPPOSED TO GO THAT WE NEEDED TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL 385.00 DOLLARS PER PERSON. WE ARE ALSO VERY PISSED OFF WE JUST GAVE THESE #@$% 198.OO DOLLARS!!!!

Guest

This company is a scam!!! they took our money $99 for cruise to Baja Mexico and can not get it back.

They told us to pick any date so we picked November 2010. Catch was to call one month prior to confirm booking. Guess what, we called one Oct. and they said nothing was available for Nov.

and to rebook a different date. We rescheduled for April 2011, call one month prior and guess what? Nothing available for April so reschedule again. Mind you, once they get your money, you only have one year to book before it expires and your money is gone.

Now, we're trying to book for a November 2011. Now they want another $213 so we can secure the price. This time we will have a room but guess what? reconfirm again one month prior.

I think I got the message.

These *** people should be shot. SCAMMMERSSSS!!!!!

Guest

LAND AND CRUISE PROMOTIONS IS THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED!!!!

Christina is by far, the worst representative there.

They are all bad, but she is the worst.

They talk down to you and are very insulting. I do not know how they are still in business.

Guest

I also got SCAMMED!!!!! They took my $200 and then told me I needeed to comr up with $327.00 more.

This is BS. I have tried to speak with a supervior or manager and they would not let me.

They told me to GET OVER IT. CRUISES AREN'T FREE.They are lucky they're not local....

Guest

Total scam. They told us we won a cruise and only had to pay port fee of 93 per person.

They mail us documents 30 days later after we charged it.

Then 11 months later call us saying we have to pay additional fees of 300-700 per person. No one answers their phone if you call for info, but they answer right away to take your money.

DONT BOOK WITH THEM THEY ARE RIP OFF THEIVES

Guest

Unsure about this company, Right now I have envied well over 25 friends and family member to go on this trip. I hear that this is a scam and I'm starting to believe that this finding is true..

I did read up on the BBB and they do have a F on the rating scale.

At this point it's time to pull back before more get hurt and taken advantage of.... WOW This Is Crazy !!!!!

Guest

You are clearly lying.

Guest

I agree this company stinks. They told me I won the cruise and just had to pay the gift tax of 93/per person.

I didn't question it because I had entered a contest recently for a cruise. When I tried to book the cruise they told me they need 242/per person for boarding and departure taxes.

This was no gift. If you check out discount cruises you can get a cruise for the same price as what they try to charge you here.

Guest

Ifeel like this is a scam. I purchased a package April 2010, paid $327.00 for 4 people.

Was told to call back 60 days out from making reservations. Call all numbers no one answer- or phone is disconnected. I will be requesting a refund but doubt if it will happen.

Please do no make the same mistake as i did. This company has a F rating with the BBB.
