Great home but the landscapers they hired were awful and the warranty dept for Coventry are not helpful. We got some awful trees. Notified them soon after we moved in about the trees. Yes we signed that the stuff looked good but we were under the assumption the trees were taken care of by coventry and/or the landscapers during the 36 days prior to our buying the house. We know now to being a certified Arborist to the walk through and don't sign anything but we feel that if we didn't sign the build would of paid us 500 plus out money back and cancelled the contract. We are now out thousands of dollars and no help from the builder. Almost everyone in the new section of the neighborhood has lost at least one tree.

Horrible customer service.

We had problems from the start! You pay for upgrades and have to fight just to get them. Apparently the contractors aren't given the corrected floor plans. Trash is left everywhere including inside the kitchen island! One of the contractors used our house as a daycare. It's a good thing I stopped by and saw it. He had a box ac unit sticking out the window which bent the frame and have continue to cause problems. Took almost a year to build the house and 7 months later we are still having to have them come out to fix their mistakes. Their contractors have major attitude problems and are known to get vengeful with the home owners who complain. The have fired a total of 6 people during this whole process. This led to a whole lot of miscommunications on their part. I would have never used this company if I would have known

New Home Complaint

We had a leak from a stopped up pipe in the laundry room a day after we closed. Leak was fixed but after numerous warranty inputs, Coventry has yet to come out and finish fixing the hole in the wall and the replacing the baseboard. It has been almost 6 months now. Someone needs to contact me please to get this issue fixed. Chris Banks 707-685-****

Turn around time and customer service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have signed contract in 2021 in Cypress, they took almost one year to complete the home. I have waited almost 7 months to see some progress in my house site. i have asked the sales manager several times to start construction of my home since the interest rates are going up but they requested extra 55k which is outside of the contract to start the construction. It is very frustrating that they dont provide construction updates unless customer asks for it. They promised to provide updates on a weekly basis during the contract but they have not. All of sudden one fine day they woke up and they wanted to close my house by so and so date by putting pressure on customer. They constructed all the homes except my home in that section but I was the one signed in last year November but got impacted due to the delays. I have trusted Coventry homes very much but with all this issues I feel like they are not suitable for me.

RUN - POOR QUALITY and bunch of LIARS

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I signed a contract in November 2021 in Cambridge Crossing, Celina TX and the construction started in Feb. I am about to close the house in couple of months. I had very bad experiences with their sales team and the Project managers. They have neglected all my requests despite of having my attorney copied. I am writing this to make sure no one suffers from these people. I have requested sales team to add a floor plug in the living room and this was agreed to add a floor plug as this was not present in contract, I have agreed to pay the $500 change fees and requested the change. The sales team never responded to this for several weeks. I have written emails to the salesperson requesting for this to update in the contract and share it with me, I called several times to request, and the Sales team responded saying, Dont call us, we will take care of it I have call records for the same conversations and I am going to take legal actions on them. To my surprise, the foundation took place without floor plug and Coventry had to replace the Salesperson due to lot of complaints on her. I have written and phone conversations stating Floor Plug will be added in the living room I have done pre-drywall 3rd party inspection; I had submitted the report and the same Salesperson refused to address any of the issues without looking at the report. There are several issues found in the report and are reported by City later, I was under impression that Coventry is a quality builder but its just a myth, its like any other regular builder like Lennar. After the dry wall is completed, I was requested for a pre-drywall inspection report study This is a classic example of their quality and process. Its a JOKE, I thought they took this seriously and going to address the issues, after wasting 2 hours of time, they went over the list and said none of the qualify for fix. Even now I have several issues in the house and I dont have the satisfaction of a quality house. This is to let everyone know that dont fall for their tricks, none of the Coventry team is supportive and listen to your concerns. I will never go near Coventry in future, and I dont recommend this to any of my family and friends! RUNRUN

Coventry Homes We are currently sitting in our brand new 3 month old house that is in a condition that is 100% unacceptable. I wish I could post the photos right here but it has it restricted because Im sure you dont want anyone seeing how poor the quality of our home is in and the people you are hiring to work for you that have 0 and I mean 0 competence. We dont even know how long our home is going to be completely torn apart because one of your construction managers is incapable of performing his job. We are already going on week 2!!! With no progress in site. Thought you would like to know how one of your lead superintendents in SRR neighborhood is handling his homes - he no showed for appointments - he has not called back - had to call someone to even get him to show up - shows up and leaves within 5 min without a plan, with no communication, and nothing fixed. - the trades are calling us, the homeowners , directly because they dont know whats going on because again he isnt communicating or planning or doing his job to facilitate the appointments with the trades. - found out the he canceled the glass company out of spite to us so now we are at a standstill. - gave tile company wrong information weeks ago followed up with again 0 communication. - allowed a trade to throw a hammer in our home. - stop coming to supervise the trades all together. Just wondering if this is the amazing service and homes youre referring to? Anyone thinking about purchasing a Coventry home please DONT.

Takes your money and runs

Steer clear of this dishonest company with zero idea of customer service. We dealt with a very charming sales person in New Braunfels and fell for his promises, giving him the initial fee for land analysis, design selections, and drawings. That was in February, 2021, and the pain ensued. We never got drawings that were correct. The first version was mirrored backwards, and we were assured that would be corrected but never was. At the design center, the designer had to do a mirror copy of the drawings in order to continue the work. The design center was painful and ended up being overly complicated, and incomplete. After working with a design consultant for 3 visits, we heard nothing for weeks. When we called to check, we were assigned to two design consultants who were rebuilding our design choices from previous visits and notes they could piece together. After completing this work with them in April, finally, we heard nothing again. For months. No land preparation was ever completed. No hole dug, no analysis performed on my land. So for the three things we paid for, we got about 2/3 of one. In conversation with the sales person, I expressed how displeased we were and how could I trust them with more money when I was never communicated with, and had to initiate all contact. I was assured we'd meet every two weeks to keep track of items. That was in May, and the last conversation had. Finally, in October, we announced we intended to walk away. They processed a refund and returned a small portion with no details, invoice, or other explanation. These guys are long on sales pitch and short on delivery. I am so very disappointed we wasted time with them from the beginning, but thankful we didn't pursue them to build our home. Beware.

I cannot encourage potential home buyers enough to avoid Coventry Homes, Plantation Homes and Wilshire Homes; all of which fall under MHI McGuyer Homebuilders out of Houston. We built a home in 2015 with Coventry out in the Canyon Falls community in Argyle and to say the entire experience over the last few years has been horrific is an understatement. The foundation has moisture that wicks up through it and anything that is porous soaks it up. We have mold growing in the walls, on cabinetry and when we paid almost $40k to remediate the mold, 1700 SQFT of engineered hardwoods had mold growing on the bottom and in the layers. We remediated in February of 2018 and in October of 2018 we HAD TO BUY A HOUSE TO LIVE IN as the mold had returned and our health continued to decline. We filed a lawsuit in September of 2017 since MHI was not honoring their warranty and per the contract when the damages exceed 20% of the contracted price, it's an automatic buy back. We have had two unrelated structural engineers and two mold experts all say that in order to "fix" the house, you need to demolish it. We have house we have $690,000.00 into and it is uninhabitable. So much water is under the foundation that from March 2018 to November 2018, the entire house heaved up 1-2 inches causing rafters to split apart and the roof to start "twisting" up off the house. There is evidence throughout the house and outside of serious movement. Every delay tactic has been used to keep pushing back the arbitration date to avoid accepting any responsibility for the product they built and sold to us. It's shameful and should be criminal. Don't look to the BBB for an accurate picture of how this company treats their homeowners...check other sites, look deep because it's an ugly mess and sadly, our story is not isolated. The common tactic reported by other homeowners and experienced by us was well, is to blame the homeowner for whatever warranty issue arises. We spent three years in that house and every day it poisoned my husband, two of my children as well as myself. You cannot imagine how dangerous mold is inside your home, you cannot imagine how sick it will make you for the rest of your life. We are carrying two mortgages, two sets of utilities, homeowners insurance, HOA dues and taxes in addition to paying legal fees just to have MHI honor their contract. Something honorable builders do without hesitation.
