Ripped off on repair charges.

I had a car for sale there for about 5 months, they did over $450 worth of unauthorized repairs on it and didnt tell me till I went to pick it up. Was charged $252 for a simple Chevy fuel pump, if they would have told me of the charges Id picked up the car, brought it back home fixed it my self and taken it back.

They sell junk

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I bought a car for $13k they said it ran and driver great but failed to mention the rear axle was bad and on the 30 minutes drive home the rear axle shaft came out and completely demolished the side. They say no rust only because they bond the *** out of it. They make the cars look okay to mask the crap they sell

Good response to the dissatisfied client. If true, the buyer did not do their homework. Probably a dem.

Unethical dealership

Am now looking for legal help. Absolutely no words coming from dealer.

You know no talk, no action. Dealer continues not to have any regulations for him to abide to.

Sleeps well at night after he sells unsafe vehicles to trusting people. If there's a crack in that crazy wall he hides behind - I will find it!!!

Original review Mar 13, 2021
During the height of the Covid pandemic, a family member was sold a vehicle after speaking with Steve, (unfortunately he accepted the sales person's word) which turned out to be an unsafe, illegally repaired, supposedly rebuilt car. Owner refuses to budge from saying that his sales staff NEVER tell people about condition of cars.

Even after sending Mr. Noel proof from professional reports, he continues to, in my opinion, lie.

Reporting to agencies seems to be ineffective, maybe due to volume of complaints.
People need a voice to monitor dealerships like this who will use whatever tactic good or bad, to get one of their cars off their lot. Doesn't seem to be regulations on cars over 10 years of age, which is playing right into their hands.

Wanted to follow up on this review. Country Classic Cars was bought out by me at the beginning of August 2022 and the previous owners are no longer involved in the business.

I have been reviewing any/all consumers issues that they have had in the past and am making effort to reach out to each of you to inform you of the ownership change and offer to facilitate a resolution between you and the previous owners to the best of my abilities. A lot of things are going to be changing with the dealership over the next 12 months and I cannot say we will be perfect, but we will be overhauling this business, its presentation, processes, and practices in their entirety. Please email me directly at josh@***.com and give me a chance to help with your situation.

I have no control over what the previous owners are willing to do, but I am very much willing to assist you in finding a resolution and making this situation right for you. Thanks, Josh

Josh, I hope you are a legitimate, honest businessman and experience great success but if you were in anyway associated with Russ Noel either friend or business I question your ethics as well. I wish there was something you could do I'll email you but as you can see from the numerous complaints they have gotten away with ripping people off for decades and have no morals or conscience. I wish I could have found a way to put them out of business or bankrupt them but sine you bought their business I can only hope for your success and that Russ and his associates suffer 10 times the financial devastation of all their victims.

I suggest you contact the Illinois Department of Consumer Affairs. And by the way, you don't need "regulations" because of the car's age.

All you have to do is prove that they sold you a vehicle under fraudulent conditions.

Why? Because THAT is a criminal act, and would be investigated by the Illinois State Police and the Illinois Attorney General's Office...THAT'S why.

I am speaking with an attorney regarding a class action suit against Country Classic Cars. If you are a victim of their deceitful practices and have been ripped of by them and would like to join in please contact me via email scottastout67@***.com

Love to see people *** and moan about their own mistakes. Why would anyone spend 16k for something they have not laid eyes or hands on.

Sounds like a serious error in judgement that you now want someone else to accept fault for!! Have you ever (honestly) simply taken a salesman at his word?

Have you ever bought anything that you didn’t know what you were buying? Hope you (and the others here) have learned a valuable lesson...don’t see it, don’t touch it, don’t buy it!!!

Have some compassion. On-line car buying is becoming a big business.

I wanted to purchase a reliable affordable vehicle and was looking for something Nostalgic after glancing at a few reviews and a couple conversations with the salespeople at Country Classic Cars I Purchased 1984 Chevy S10 for $6,000.00 plus $99.00 dealer fee &;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; $650.00 shipping with an additional $400.00 for valve cover repair need upon receipt of vehicle only to discover an additional repairs needed are estimated in excess of $3,500.00.

Vehicle advertised as...... "1984 Chevy S10 Extended cab, 4x4, well kept, nice body and paint, good interior, factory rubber mat, Durango package V6 auto, PS, PB, a/c, bed rails, bed liner, runs and drives good." in this AD

https://classics.autotrader.com/classic-cars/1984/chevrolet/s10_pickup/10122****.

Steve the salesperson assured me the vehicle was sound with theses emails...

Country Classic Cars cntryclsscrs@***.com via bounce.s4.exacttarget.com

Oct 31, 2019, 9:24 AM "This S10 is available.

Nice survivor. Runs good for sure Interested. Steve."

Country Classic Cars cntryclsscrs@***.com Nov 1, 2019, 9:23 AM

"I've driven it around here. It is a survivor and appears to had an easy life.

If you know the S10 trucks you know they can last for a long long time. While this one isnt perfect or show quality it really does present itself well. I use to be an S10 fan. I wouldn't mind having this one.

I will give you a call later today. A lot to do this morning. Steve."

Ad and correspondence clearly indicate vehicle was in fully operable condition not a restoration pr119oject. However when I received the truck it had no A/C as advertised, No 4x4 as advertised, Did not run or drive good as advertised (severe oil leak could not be driven without risk of engine damage) Also the heater does not work, the hoses have been disconnected and capped.

The cab has a leak causing headliner to fall. AD intentionally misleading not disclosing disconnected Heater and collapsing liner. I am attaching those photos and the photos showing the actual condition of the truck.

I spoke with Russ Noel owner of Country Classic cars and addressed the main issues. The engine, heat, 4x4 and a/c.

In our conversation he statedHe advertised A/C and 4x4 but did not say they worked (Show intent to defraud)that I should not have purchased from him if I could not do repairs to engine myself because of the expense of having a professional do it.

I have transcript of those conversations available.

Upon further investigation I spoke with the previous owner who informed me he disclosed Heat and A/C issue to Russ Noel at the time of their transaction and that he would have been aware and able to disclose engine issues to future buyers since Country Classic Cars did an inspection of the vehicle prior to finalizing purchase. I can also provide a transcript of that conversation. Additionally, & unfortunately in my searches I discovered this dealership has history of deceptive practices and at least one claim of previous complaint report to Illinois State Attorney General.

I have included links to those resources.I want dealer to refund my money an pay for return shipping of vehicle.

This is a case of blatant fraud and before pursuing criminal charges I would simply like to resolve this amicably. I do not wish to keep the vehicle and can not sell it for what I paid in to another individual good conscious in its present condition.

Here are a few statements

Michael Merchant <;;;;;;;;michael.merchant@***.com>

to me

You contacted me through Yelp asking about my experience with Country Classic Cars.

My experience was not as bad as yours, but not good nevertheless.

The car I bought, a 1975 AMC Matador, was advertised to be very nice and a good driver. I was able to see many many pictures of the car, many close ups, so was pretty sure about body issues, especially rust.

I spoke with the salesperson repeatedly. I specifically asked about rust and was told that the only problem was the exhaust which might need replacement. I was told that the car was otherwise ready to drive. (Oddly enough, I have not had to replace the exhaust or muffler.....yet anyway.

Read on.....)

I have had to do thousands of dollars of repairs. Some were things I just wanted done, but the majority were things that had to be done.

Upon arrival the car had a run down battery. The reason for this was that the brake lights would not turn off. The required solution was a new power brake booster.....not cheap.

I suppose I was lucky that the car did not in fact have bad body rust issues......for the most part.

The rear bumpers of these cars are notoriously poorly designed and even well maintained ones have problems with the rear bumper, hence replacements are very had to find. My car had a thoroughly rusted rear bumper such that I had to find a replacement (luckily I did find a decent example 100 miles from home). There was also body rust along the lower rear edge of the body adjacent to the rear bumper and there was a dent in the rear of the car. These body items were not mentioned.

All have been repaired at considerable expense.

The hood had been touched up with paint that did not match the original color. So I had the entire hood repainted.

The radiator leaked and had to be restored. The gas tank was full of gunk and had to be removed and resealed, successfully thank goodness.

The entire front end was rusty and the car drove terribly and made all sorts of strange noises. Everything had to be replaced.....bushings, shocks, tie rods, etc.

It now drives very nicely.

The front seat upholstery looked pretty good but was nearly worn through. The seat has been reupholstered with correct fabric.

There were mistakes I made......namely not having someone go over the car or going to visit it myself before I bought it. But still Country Classics did gloss over these shortcomings. I suspect they might not of even known about many of them.

I get the feeling this car sat in their warehouse for a long time and their goal was to simply unload it on the first sucker they could find.

Unlike you, my outcome, after a lot of money, was good. I have had the car for almost two years and now it seems to be just as I had hoped it would be. After my considerable investment I am very pleased with the car. However I would love to see you succeed with nailing these guys.

I'd love to hear how things go for you with the attorney general.

For the price I paid the car should have been pristine. I was a sucker who got duped.

Bought a 67 Ford Thunderbird during the summer of 2017. I asked do all lights and electric windows work as they should.

Also, was It road worthy. They stated everything worked as it should.

When we got it, it was unsafe to drive and some windows and taillights had problems. They out right lied about the car.

BE CAREFUL DEALING WITH COUNTRY CLASSIC CARS !!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

You can believe this review. I bought a truck from them for $17,000.

I made the HUGE mistake of not having someone I trust look at it and report back to me. Their photos on line make the cars they have look great, they may even be touched up (?). When I got the truck, and having built many hot rods, ... it was a wreck!!

Had I looked it over I would have offered them $8,000 for it, but as I said, it was my mistake. One other thing ... they did not charge any sales tax.

If you buy from they, expect to pay a 10% sales tax, no matter which state you are in, when you try to register the car. Yes, BE CAREFUL !!

Country Classic Cars, buyers run like *** from this company!

Thinking Country Classic cars was a legitimate dealership I found out the hard way they are really just a junk yard. Don't believe anything the salesman or owner tells you over the phone.

If you are not there to inspect the car WITH A MECHANIC then be prepared to be very disappointed. These people will tell you what ever you need to hear to sell you one of their classic pieces of unsafe *** Run like *** from this company and don't look back, ever!!!

8000.00 for a vehicle that would pass inspection and emissions, their wasn't even a muffler when it arrived, 10,000 later it still needs work just to be safe to drive. I'm telling ya, RUN, RUN LIKE ***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My brother too. Really trusted salesman, he and I still can't believe that a dealership is allowed to do this.

Really!? You bought a 1983 Jeep Cherokee and you were disappointed...seems like a logical conclusion to me.

I gather from your post that you bought it sight unseen. Again, really! Country Classics prices accurately represent the product.

If you want a restored classic (1983 Jeep?), prepare to spend 5 to 10 times what you paid at Country. A used car is a used car, classic or not.

File a complaint with like these consumers with Illinois State Attorney General https://ccformsubmission.ilattorneygeneral.net/CC1.aspx Thank you for your response and the link to the Illinois Attorney General. I have filed a complaint and have forwarded to them all my receipts.

OMG I hadn't realized how much the total was until I put them all together. Like you I doubt I'll realize any monies, but it would be nice if it happens. At least we might be able to contribute to the downfall of Country Classics. Michael I have filed a complaint with the Illinois State Attorney General they have opened a case and have informed me they are investigating my claim and are aware of past claims.

I am doubtful any monies can be recouped as that would take civil action but there may be criminal or legal action the state can take against them that would end their deceptive & dishonest business practices. I was informed by the Attorney General’s office every claim helps to substantiate all others and all complaints are active for 5 years and all past complaints are reviewable. If you would like to help prevent others from being victimized by this dealership you can file your story online, it takes less than 5 minutes. https://ccformsubmission.ilattorneygeneral.net/CC1.aspx You contacted me through Yelp asking about my experience with Country Classic Cars.

Read on.....) I have had to do thousands of dollars of repairs.
