Verified ReviewerIncorrectly installed A/C and won’t take responsibility
- - Installed by Cool Today; float switch fills, unit shuts off.
- - Drain line clear; video proves it; managers say it's not their fault and won't fix.
My system was installed by Cool Today as a Home Depot contractor. Every couple months Ive had to have them come out because my unit would shut off because the float switch pipe was full but the drain line is clear.
I can prove it with video.
The mgrs keep telling me its not their fault but THEY INSTALLED IT!!! The most recent tech actually used the word LEMON but they still wont fix it.
Preferred solution: Full refund

Horrible experience overall
- - Unprofessional and uncaring service from Cool Today.
- - They leave work unfinished, avoid accountability, and give no apology or follow-up.
If you're thinking about buying an AC from Cool Today, get ready to hand over your hard-earned money to a company that does not care about you. This was truly the most unprofessional, incompetent, uncaring, frustrating company I've ever dealt with.
They leave work unfinished, take zero accountability for their own issues, and refuse to follow up until their customers force them to. And if you think you'll get as much as an apology after going through all that, you can forget about it. They just do not care. If I could give them negative stars, I would.
If I could go back in time and choose a different AC company, I most definitely would. If you're thinking about buying an AC from Cool Today, get ready to hand over your hard-earned money to a company that does not care about you. Verified ReviewerCool Today pushes for new A/C's not repairs
- - Cool Today serviced a 10-year unit and urged replacement.
- - Four months later, heat cycled; a loose screw near Freon measurement caused Freon loss.
I had routine maintenance done on my 10 Y/O A/C from Cool Today. The technician said it was noisy and I needed a new one because it would not last long.
He pushed getting a new A/C and a hard start. I decided to get a couple of different quotes from other companies, but since it was working fine, I decided to wait on a new one. Four months later, I turned on the heat and noticed that it kept shutting on and off every couple of minutes. I called a different company and the technician said that the screw was loose where they measure the amount of Freon in the A/C.
Since the pressure is higher when running the heat, I lost most of the Freon, hence the problem.
I believe the Cool Today technician did that on purpose so that my A/C would eventually not work, and I would buy a new one from them. The technician said my A/C could work for another 5 years and when repair costs exceed 1/3 the cost of the A/C, then it should be replaced.

Verified ReviewerPoor service possible price gauging
- - Home Depot directed us to this company for AC maintenance.
- - First tech ran heat and AC failed; second tech quoted $2600; we paid $1000 elsewhere.
Had a horrible experience with this company. Called Home Depot for a regular maintenance on our AC system and was directed to this company.
The technician came out at 1pm on Friday and performed the service. At one point I smelled the heat come on but I figured that was part of the service. My thermostat went from 68 degrees when she arrived to 76 degrees when she left but I figured it was because they running the system. At the end she said everything was working and showed me some pictures of inside the air handler and gave me a written suggestions to better keep up my AC.
After she left, my AC never turned back on. We called the following morning when we realized it started getting hot outside and waited 4 hours for them to send another technician. The new technician determined that the compressor didnt work and coincidentally might have been hit by lightening. I was home all day, I promise you we did not get hit by lightening.
He then tells us its going to cost us $2600 to fix but *** waive the current visit. WHAT?!? How did a $33 maintenance call turn into a $2600 non-functioning AC?
We asked to speak to a manager cuz it worked before the first technician arrived. Well, the manager doesnt come back till Monday.
The weathers feels like temp was 111 degrees and we had no AC all weekend. We ended up calling another company and had to pay $1000 for repair Monday afternoon. Received the call from the manager whose name on the voicemail was illegible and when you call that number back, their voicemail isnt set up. The new AC company said the original technician should have never run the heat in this weather because she probably fried the system.
Shame on you Home Depot for partnering with this kind of company. NEVER AGAIN and Ill make sure to spread the word

System still leaks water on the floor.
- - They were asked to clean evaporator coils inside.
- - They only cleaned the drain lines.
- - The AC still leaks water and they billed $600 for it.
The firm was asked to come out and clean the evaporator coils on the inside. Instead, they only cleaned out the drain lines.
The air conditioner still leaks water on the floor. They keep billing me $600 for work that did not repair the problem.
Cool Today? How about day 5 and this is with warranty
- - Paid for a 24-hour warranty; system failed Friday and no tech until Saturday.
- - No updates, two-night hotel stay, and $600 in costs.
Day 5 and after reaching someone other than customer service line, still no response at 9:30 am
Supposed to be 24 hour turnaround. System down early Friday AM.
No one available until Saturday between 10-1. No call, no nothing by 3:00pm. Call customer service. Dont even bother with that.
Warranty service shows up about 4:30. We need totally unit replacement. Ok fine. We get hotel stay.
2 nights, no word from anyone what the heck is going on. Call customer service. Still no response. I have an elderly sick dog just home from hospital.
This heat is bad for her. Plus I work from home. So hanging out in a hotel is not an option for me.
Now its Tuesday, no response. So far out 450.00 Hotel and lost work from home wages 150.00

- - Technician came for a minor water leak, began disassembling the system.
- - Offered replacement for $12,000; after the visit the AC didn't get cold.
Technician came to my establishment checking out a minor Air condition water leak problem in the garage! Technician instead of checking with Julie he start taking my system apart putting gauges on my unit letting out Freon tap the selling me a complete system for 12,000 even though my air condition temperature dropped to 72 inside the house.
After the technician left my house air condition did not get cold like it use to before he touch it.
Sounds like we have a scam going on attempting to get me to purchase a new unit even though I only had a water leak. System is not new but it was working efficiently many years and now my house temperature is 79 after they touch my system Im extremely disappointed and feel highly insulted
Preferred solution: Never want to hear from them
User's recommendation: Never used a scam company
Excellent!
- - Jason provided five-star service.
- - He was tactful and knowledgeable about plumbing and the Today Plan.
- - Neighbors recommended this company.
Today one of your very talented and comprehensive technicians, Jason, just left performing five star service.
He was tactful and knowledgeable about plumbing and the best way I could benefit from the Today Plan.
When other people may not understand what I am trying to ask he "got it" without getting frustrated.
I can thank my neighbors for recommending this company to me!
VERY POOR MAINTENANCE SERVICE
- - They claim 90 minutes for maintenance, which is disputed.
- - Follow-up is poor; they did not contact the tenant or schedule before the deadline.
I'm watching channel 7 WWSB, Sarasota,Fl and I'm fuming listening to this guy talk about COOL TODAY and their procedures for maintenance. Sounds good on TV but he's full of IT!!!
The biggest joke is, he's saying they spend an hour & a half performing their maintenance, NOT!!! What a joke, they're not even close to that! They are HORRIBLE on follow up. They DO NOT let you know when you're due for maintenance, which is why you've paid them.
I called them a month ago on a rental property I manage. The maintenance agreement on the house was expiring on November 15, 2016, of course they didn't contact me. I asked them to schedule an appointment with the tenant to perform the maintenance BEFORE the November 15th deadline.
To date (11/27/16) they have NOT contacted the tenant therefore, the maintenance has not been done & it's 12 days past the deadline?!? If you need an AC company for maintenance or any other service, DO NOT CONSIDER "COOL TODAY"!
Said I needed complete new AC.... Lied
- - Called Cool Today for AC maintenance; regular tech moved away.
- - The unit was claimed to be shot; another company found nothing wrong.
I called Cool Today to have maintenance done on my AC. My regular guy had moved away.
The Cool Today technician said he was "So sorry to tell me that my complete unit was shot and I needed a complete new AC." He said he was "So sorry to tell me" at least 5 times. He quoted $10,000. I called another company and was told there was nothing at all wrong with the unit.
I am LIVID. Don't call Cool Today!!
Civil Rights Violations and Disability Discrimination
- - ADA Title III violation over accommodation.
- - Voicemail had heavy breathing; appointment issue.
- - Seeks local alternative to avoid rights issues
Civil Rights Violations
Reasonable Accommodation leading to Disability Discrimination:
I am required by law to say that term prior to even saying Hello and it is a royal pain to me to state it as it seems that many people that are not necessarily ignorant not stupid but unaware that the only way they can legally respond while living in the USA is "What is your Reasonable Accommodation" which in essence when those people that respond to me do not state it are violating my Civil Rights as they are not accepting what Title 111 of the ADA is>
I received a call today Wednesday October 29, 2014 10/29/2014 from
(941) 921 - **** and when I went to listen to the message there was nothing but heavy breathing on the message. If I did not know that the call was from

this company to determine if the Friday morning appointment for an estimate to have a generator put in was okay or had to be changed, I might have thought due to the heavy breathing that a *** was calling me. I called back and said Reasonable Accommodation and the lady that was on the phone Regina would not accept the Reasonable Accommodation statement as it is a Federal law. But no, even when I told her what my US Social Security Disability was she took a confrontational stance with me while I read the Reasonable Accommodation Statement not my statement but a Federal law called Title 111 taken directly off of the Department of Justices website
http://www.justice.gov/crt/about/drs/
Within five minutes I contacted the company /manufacturer who set up the appointment my contact and still said the Reasonable Accommodation statement and just prior to doing a conference call I let my contact know that the company that left the heavy breathing on my voicemail that I had called to verify when my appointment was in the first place on:
10/24/2014 06:47PM 941.921.5581 SARASOTA DT 33 0.00
Then I did the conference call with Regina. Even when my contact was on the line as a buffer, Regina was confrontational and disregarded the term of Reasonable Accommodation and violated my Civil Rights and performed Disability Discrimination against myself and the ADA, a Federal law.
My contact is getting me another local company that will not violate my Civil Rights while living and working in the United States of Sarasota. No not a faux pas, but it seems that this is not the USA while I try to do business to spend my money living with this disability.
Per the ADA (Americans with Disabilities >FEDERAL< ACT) regulations. The Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice is responsible for the enforcement of Title III of the ADA. When any company or retailer fails to comply with any of the ADA public accommodation requirements, regardless of how minor or how severe the violation that retailer can be sued for disability discrimination via the DOJ first or an individual second.
I have a United States Social Security Disability Impairment Code 2940, which is a combination of Tourettes (use of Vulgar language) and Aspergers Syndrome.
I also have a documented sub – classification of IED (Intermittent Explosive Disorder) 132.34 – Verbal antagonistic outbursts which as the term intermittent means at any possible time wherein undue pressure is given due to real or perceived provocation. (In this case Regina was the protagonist) I may say something inappropriate, but that is documented as part of my US Social Security Disability, and it is not to be inferred as a danger to an employee
My doctors, and I find that the lack of interaction with people wherein people initiate the interaction with myself as an individual as one of the triggers that causes outbursts.
I am the one that has to live with this GD disability but I am getting tired of Urine Ants totally disregarding Federal laws at my expense.
- Disability discrimination
Preferred solution: Either obey the Federal Law concerning The ADA or move to another country.

I went to home depot and a guy working there was doing the usual promotional offer on a $49.99 a/c unit inspection. This company cool today turned up said everything was good and then said we were getting a power surge when the unit turned on and fitted a part to stop that happening.
They charged $300 which started at over $500 until I kept saying no. Said we would save a lot on our electricity bill with this part fitted.
Found out the part they fitted was under $40 on Amazon. Totally over price parts and just find things to replace.
