Verified Reviewer | Burlington, MassachusettsSCAMMERS!!! DO NOt USA THIS COMPANY!!!
I hired Continental Van Lines to move our apartment in June 2013. T At this time I spoke with Anthony who confirmed our move and that this company accepts cash, Visa and MasterCard.
We cancelled that move but told the company that we would be using them in the near future to move to a different location. I contacted the company again in October and confirmed a move for November 9. At this time I spoke with both Anthony to verbally confirm the move and method of payment. Visa for the move and cash for the tip.
He said this was fine and no deposit was necessary. When I returned a call from Greg to confirm our move date shortly before the move he was rude and hung up on me because I had a few questions for him and he stated that he did not have time to answer them. When I called the company I spoke with Maria who apologized for Greg's poor behavior and stated that he was a new driver. I again went over the details of the move, including payment and she again confirmed.
My initial reason for calling Maria even after confirmation was due to the unprofessional treatment of me by Greg, I was concerned that they were too busy and perhaps wouldn't show up as scheduled. Maria promised they would be at our apartment as scheduled. When the movers arrived they claimed to only be able to take cash. The forman, the only one who spoke English, told me that he doesn't know who to call since he only moves furniture and makes $12.00 per hour.
I called the company and again spoke to Greg, who first me that they did not take credit cards at all, then he told me they could not accept them anymore because they were accused of fraud approximately 1 month prior.
When I asked why I was not informed of this he stated that he called me the previous day to tell me, which is absolutely not true. He refused to speak with me after that and hung up the phone.
Screwed by Continental Van Lines
I made arrangements with CVLs to move my furniture from Alabama to Florida. A $500 deposit was required which was refundable up to 5 days prior to move.
At four days prior to move, I was contacted and told another $400 would be required which left me with a balance of $400. First, they were two days late picking up furniture in Alabama, then instead of the promised 48 hour delivery in Florida it took 15 days to get my furniture. Then the driver could not find my home because a rental truck was being used so I had to drive to where the driver was and have him follow me home. Then I had to pay $1000 more to get them to unload the truck or they would put it in a storage building and charge me more to get my furniture.
I was lied to and misled throughout the whole ordeal by J.R. Postle and CVL along with South Movers, the company that they outsourced my job to, which Mr.
Postle had previously warned me of with "small mom and pop" companies. DO NOT USE CONTINENTAL VAN LINES OR SOUTH MOVERS.
VERY GOOD SERVICE, HONEST and Professional
I had a very good experience with this company. I bought a house in NJ and needed to move out from my Brooklyn's apartment shortly.
Called them and spoke with Anthony. He gave me the price over the phone, since I didn't have time for in-house estimation. Four guys came in the morning, had all necessary packing materials and equipment, very professional and competent. They finished job late afternoon, and honestly speaking, I was surprised that it could be done so fast.
The price was well within, that I was expecting.
When the guys left, I got a call from Anthony, asking me if I was satisfied with their service. I would, definitely recommend this company for those , who want to get fast, professional and satisfactory service.
Continental Vanlines Usa performed a good move for our family.
I came here to write of our experience with Continental Vanlines usa and moving america usa. The did a move for our family on Wednesday 9-12-2012 and the move went great.
The movers arrived within 15 minutes of the scheduled time and they got right to the job at hand. My wife saw the above bad recommendation written above but after we spoke to Gregg and then Sherry I decided that I would give them the shot and im glad we did. Some friends told me horror stories of past moves from other movers they hired and a few told us of decent experiences so we were on pins and needles until 4 hours into the move. The guys were outstanding and professional.
The move went pretty smooth aside from our hot tub getting a small scratch because the guys had to actually lift it over a 4 foot fence which i didnt tell them about when i hired them. I though it would easily fit but no way and they really needed another mover but they did it with only 3. I only requested 3 movers.
They gave me an estimate between 6-8 hours and the move took a total of 9 hours with the hot tub so we were very happy about that. All in all I would definately recommend Continental Vanlines and i would hire them again.

Continental Van Lines-Good Movers, Honest and Professional
Hi My name is John D. I did a local move with Continental Van Lines in Bayonne, NJ.
The estimate was done over the phone with Anthony Marino, he was very good and answered all my questions. He explained to me what services they provide and what additional charges they have. The 3 men showed up and were very professional and courteous. The estimate was just about what I expected and the price was fair.
I would highly recommend Continental Van Lines.Very Good service... If somebody need movers i highly recommend Continental Van Lines.
Very Honest Moving Company. Thank You
Continental Van Lines They Lie like a Rug
After getting 5 quotes from Moving companies I chose Continental cause the send they had Trucks routed so we would be the last loaded and be on our way Pick to be on 8/31 or 9/1 then arrival 9/4 to 9/6 unless the truck broke down or bad weather I said great so paid my deposit, The truck shows up on 9/1 I am the 1st load and driver sd now has to go back to Miami Fl he has 2 day off then pick up a load in Tampa then Texas then will be on his way and that he has till 9/21 to deliver it Not happy furniture already loaded nothing I could do Now its 9/6 I Call Customer Service and That was a joke they are rude and had to escalate the call to a supervisor She said sorry the truck is in Jacksonville Fl still waiting for the 3rd load to come up, sd she said we have till 9/21 to get it to Arizona If I had known that it could be up to the 21st I would have gone with another company that guaranted a 9/10 delivery and for less money

I had signed a contract with Sherri Hammett of Continental van lines Inc., to safely disassemble, transport, deliver and reassembly all my furniture. The amount charged was paid to them before they remove the furniture from the truck.
On arrival at my Destination (July 03, 2012) the delivery guys toss my furniture in to streets damaging all of them in the process. When I confronted them they started to use racial slur and almost ran my nephew over with the removal van. They left the furniture unassembled and all damage. Also, screws needed to re-assembly the furniture could not be found.
Consumers beware. Continental Van Lines' info is incorrect!
The profile at the top of the Continental Van Lines page is for our family owned, Seattle based moving company that has been moving families professionally for 60 years. The reviews are for a company of the same name in Florida that DOES NOT operate as a professional moving and storage company and has a poor reputation.
Continental of Seattle is very concerned that this website has published conflicting information and is leading legitimate customers away from us because of the confusion with the other company.
We request that the profile of Continental of Seattle is removed from the page containing reviews for the other Continental Van Lines. Put the Florida company's profile at the top of the page instead of ours!
Thank you.

Continental Made My Move EASY!
I originally booked my move with another company, but two days before my move they called me and told me they had no truck available to service. In a panic I called Continental, and spoke with Alec Dinero.
He was not only able to get someone to move my things in only 2 days' notice, but for a lower price than I was paying the original company. My move went great, and everyone there was so friendly. We now have a new home, and new friends with Continental.
Should I ever plan to move again Continental would for sure be my first choice.
Delayed delivery beyond belief
I hired this company to deliver my furniture from Dallas to California and it took them 34 days to deliver my stuff. They never weighed my load as promised, so I have no idea of what my charges should've been.
Nobody called for the first two weeks to say my shipment would be delayed, I had to keep calling them to find out where my stuff was, to only be told my truck was still sitting in Dallas 2 weeks after they had picked up. Also they are not the ones delivering your stuff, you pay them a fee to contract your delivery to someone else.
Save your money and find a delivery company yourself. Do not use this company.
Liars from the outset.
I received a call from a woman working at CVL because I needed to move from PA to VA. We discussed what I needed and the time in which I needed it to be done.
She gave me a price and said it would not be a problem and she gave me her cell number in case I needed to contact her. My goods were supposed to be picked up on Monday morning and delivered by Friday a the latest.
Monday morning 1 hour past pickup time I called the woman at CVL and it went to voicemail. The name she gave me was not even her real name!
She gave me her supervisor's name when I finally got a hold of her and it was not his real name either (his voicemail said a different name)! Bottom line, after I got the run around I called the driver and he said he was 1 hour away because he was just weighing the truck. 2 hours passed and I called again, this time to find he was still in a different state and he couldn't make it until the next day!!
Ridiculous!
From the very beginning to the very end, I was told one thing, even verbally guaranteed, and it did not happen. They even screened my calls to the point where I couldn't even find out what my weight or my fee was going to be. I didn't find out what I owed until the drivers delivered my goods!
I was furious. After having been in the military for many years and having moved many time, this is by far the worst moving company I have ever worked with.
The worst moving experience
I moved from Pompano Beach, Florida to Dallas with this company, they charged me for packing $450 without informing first. The guy who took the order was arrogant and hang up on me several times. They lost 4 boxes which has valuable collectible items, kitchen items... and broken many items.
I am very upset with this company and i lost my valuable things.
Bad service and VERY BAD people working in this moving company.
Do not use this company, they are liars and they will cheat you. They do not have their own trucks, and they do not even have a real office. This company is a fraud.
This company is a scam, is not real
I had a very bad experience when I moved from South Florida to Washington D.C.. Continental Van Lines Inc broke my HD TV and a valuable antique lamp, they also lost two boxes and when I called to file a claim they never return my calls.
I went back to Florida and I decided to go directly to their office in Coral Springs, FL but I discovered there was no office. This company has rented a mailbox from a PakMail store and they just have a box number.
This company is dishonest, please don't be scammed by them.
You can check on Internet the address they show in ther website, is the same one as a Pakmail store, the only difference is a mailbox number.

I had the worst experience with this company. Unbeknownst to me they are a broker, not a moving company.
Having never had experience with moving where I didn't do it myself, I believed all they told me, including the necessity of putting down a $799.49 deposit. The person I talked to gave me a very reasonable estimate, and once I put down the deposit told me he'd be my go-to person, would take very good care of me, etc. I believed it completely. A week before the move, someone else called to confirm everything and gave me an estimate of about twice the first amount.
I called back within an hour, but they were closed, so I left a message. When they finally called me back the end of the next day, they told me I didn't give enough notice and their records showed I had called that same morning so I was just out of luck. What??? Weeks later I finally contacted an attorney about getting my deposit refunded.
He had as much trouble with their communication system as I had - being transferred multiple times, being put on hold for long periods of time, etc - and the best they would part with was $150. When I received the paperwork via email to sign, it stated (paraphrased) that they did nothing wrong and were just giving me that token amount to shut me up. They made $650 for doing absolutely nothing.
I am told this is a common practice.
There are two separate companies with the same name not related to each other. One is based in FL and the other in WA and AK.
The AK/WA company is affiliated with Mayflower and United Van Lines and has been in business since 1952 under the same family ownership.
They are A+ rated by the better business bureau. If you have a complaint about one of the companies, please make sure that you are identifying the correct Continental Van Lines.
U are right Barnaby... Continental Van Lines In Pompano Beach Fl is a Broker...
When reserving your move they have no idea who is moving you at all.... after a customer gives a deposit 4 days out before the Pickup date meaning within the cancelation date. a QA representative will call you...
their goal is to tack on as much money as possible to your move and that full amount is requested before pickup.. It does not go to the company/carrier picking you up but in the pockets of Continental Van Lines.
