We are peppered with frequent renewal requests from Consumer Reports way before our renewal date is due. I think this is a waste of money and effort, and goes against what I think the magazine should stand for. Avoid waste, protect consumers, etc, etc, Ann Campi

I would like a refund for a magazine that I did not order and I am ready to call the Better Business Bureau because it was pulled out of my bank account without my permission

They refuse to cancel the magazine unless I cooperate by accepting $100.00 for a small fee which I have to give them my debit card number. I have called three times only to be given false numbers. I a

I attempted to use the chat line. Response was out of context and then was switched to lawyers I could hire for $5.00.

User's recommendation: Avoid Consumer Reports like it will give you covid-19!!

Billing

Checking on a past payment and ordering a new gift subscription... Honor free gift orders when mail is received. An offer sent 1/31/21 was received 2/13/21 by me and I was told it no longer applied. I called for an additional gift on 2/15/21 and I had to pay full price??!!

Payment problem

I have been a customer or subscriber to this magazine for several years and I keep getting multiple notices for re-subscribing to C.R. Magazine. This notice is sent in such a way that it indicates that I am not a paying customer and payment is due. I realize you have a business to run, and since I'm a Senior Citizen, I have a habit of paying all my bills on time. I don't like letters sent to me that suggests that I am one who doesn't pay his bills. I have done this for most of my life and I don't have any debt. My way of not getting any more bills from you is to cancel my subscription and I am doing that with this letter to you. I like this magazine, but if I need one, I'll pick one up at the store. Consumer reports

My sister in law ordered a subscription to this magazine. she passed in Sept. 2016 When we called, last November, to cancel her subscription, they refused to pay for, and automatically deducted 3 months, even though no one would receive or read it claiming that were supposedly already printed, (though how that's NEWS, I'll never figure out). I accidentally destroyed the check thinking it was junk mail. I have contacted them numerous times, at least 8 times now, asking for the refund. Here is is mid August, and I still have not received the refund due her estate. not businesslike, not fair, stealing from people. you should be ashamed.

Destroying a refund check is a big problem. I have gone through this from the other side, and it takes a long time. Half the fault, at least, is yours.

deceptive marketing

I received a charge on my credit card for a renewal of Consumer Reports magazine which I did authorize. After contacting the company, they stated that there was an automatic renewal when I subscribed using my credit card, and it was up to me in advance of the anniversary of the renewal to cancel the subscription. I did notify them in advance of the anniversary, but because they stated it would take 2 to 3 billing cycles to credit my account, I would continue to receive the magazine and therefor prorated the credit. This is a deceptive and greedy tactic and diminishes their image as a reputable publication.
