If you measure professionalism, payment speed, fairness & openness, Airbnb is way better than tripadvisor / flipkey, esp.when there is a situation out of normal routine and customer service help is required.

With Airbnb, calls are answered quickly, by people speaking English well.

They usually know their stuff, and get to facts & solve any issue in a fair way quickly.

With tripadvisor / flipkey, its total opposite. Almost all their customer service personnel speak with very strong accent. (Feel like you are calling a weird place in the Middle East.) Even worse, they are not remotely interested in figuring out what happened. Instead, their hidden policy is to trick and coerce hosts to refund, even if facts are crystal clear such as a shady guest is trying to blackmail / bilk honest hosts.

These two companies are not on the same level at all. Were cancelling all our listings with tripadvisor / flipkey, for a host can easily lose thousands of dollars, due to the fact that tripadvisor / flipkey allows any shady guest to bilk from honest hosts by simply fabricating a fake complaint.

But on the other side of the coin, I guess any shady deadbeat should enjoy booking through tripadvisor / flipkey. One can move into a hosts place, spend a day or a week, use all facilities and leave without paying anything. For the only trick a bilker needs to pull, is to send an unfounded complaint saying things like property is not as expected, and...

So yes, Tripadvisor / flipkey for cheaters & deadbeats!Travel for free!
