I just took delivery of all new Wolf Hudson cabinets, opened the box for the corner Lazy Susan cabinet that was specified by the dealer and couldn't stop laughing. That is until I thought about the work and cost of actually trying to install it.

It's supposed to be a 36x36 inch cabinet. In reality you get about a 24 inch round section that's enclosed like a barrell with two partially finished sides, about 11 inches on each side.

How in the world is this supposed to support a granite counter top?

Now I have to pay extra for the installer to build a proper frame along the walls. In addition, the left side of the corner is to be next to a gas range. Would it be too much to expect the side plywood panels to extend the full 24 inch depth that's supposed to be the standard for kitchen cabinets???

The dealer offered to order a skin to enclose the side, for an extra fee of course but how is a 3/16 inch thick skin going to stand up to the weight of a granite top? So, in addition to framing the back, I have to pay extra to have the side properly framed.... All because Wolf wanted to save about $2 in material to build if properly in the first place.

The management, designers and dealers should be ashamed of themselves for offering up such ***!

This is the way of dealing with a sales person, they sell u only what u see, the skins are optional and there way of making a 1.5 multiplier on u after they sell u the cabinets. .

Good luck..btw, stay away from Wolf. Total junk

Wolf cabinets are trash! Been in the cabinet business for over 30 years, and yet the worst I've seen, even over Chinese cabinets...

Want a great affordable cabinet that would put Wolf to shame, try Echelon, formerly Armstrong. Excellent line with much more options!

Stay away from wolf, total housing unit cabinets. .TRASH

This is one of the standard designs for a lazy susan cabinet. Normal.

Do you have experience with cabinetry? I have a ton and dollar for dollar wolf is hard to beat

If you had done your due diligence and spoken to your designer you would have found out that is the way most cabinet companies build the lazy suzan cabinet. Yes, your cabinet installer should have also told you that is how he would have to support any counter top. You must be installing the cabinets yourself

Wolf cabinets are an exceptional value. I have sold and Installed many kitchens since Taking on the line.

I have been a kitchen deal for 30 years.

Most lazy susans in stock cabinets require a simple nailer for granite. This person is making a big deal over nothing, which unfortunately is often the case.

Since its "nothing" to you as a dealer, you won't mind paying for the extra skin to install along the side that is exposed to the range and pay for the extra time required by the installer.

You also won't mind paying for extra material and time to enclose the open spaces on blind corner cabinets where if left alone, items on the cabinets could fall through.

This is what happens when diyer does project.

Not a diyer, I contracted with a GC to handle the installation and purchased the cabinets through a Wolfe dealer. This isn't my first kitchen.

I've purchased other brands, and not had such experiences. In addition to the corner cabinet, they produce blind corner cabinets that have open gaps in the part that's blind, allowing items inside to fall through.

In other words, cut every corner possible.

That's not efficiency, that's CHEAP which just pushes additional costs to the buyer.

wolfe cabinets are imported from china, all the parts and pcs are shipped here and assembled. wolfe is owned by the govener of pa and should be ashamed to do this. people i have spoken to have found the made in china stickers inside some of the cabinets!

Guest

That "skin" is not supposed to support anything! Just keep things from falling back there.

Very common practice for contractors to have to provide support for the countertops. Wolf designer is entry level semi-custom... I have worked with cabinet lines that offer the same barrel Lazy Susan in mid level semi custom as well.

Not uncommon in the cabinet world.
