Need I say more.....I have found an attorney and hopefully everyone ever insured by VPI will receive notice.

Review your claims and EOB's with a fine tooth comb. VPI uses very slick strategies to ignore diagnoses, attribute to previous health problem and/or categorically are not educated enough to process simple or complex medical claims.

I challenge any satisfied consumer to present their claims EOB's and I bet I can find at least one to five examples how they could have paid more.

Dealing with VPI is more frustrating than dealing with cancer! Most people are too worn out caring for their pets to really question the business practices of VPI.

This would never happen with USAA.

Hi everyone who has had serious issues with VPI. I was one of the earlier posters that had wanted to file a lawsuit against VPI.

I no longer have service with them. My dog who was covered passed a year ago. And I will say my situation with VPI got worse as time progressed. I am still interested in a lawsuit if others are.

My interest are, yes recovering some of my funds, but equally I believe that VPI is criminal in it's practices. Should we start a chat group off this site? It could be via email exchange, GroupMe, etc....It would be good to compile a concise list of issues with VPI, look for lawyers, etc...Let me know and I would be happy to get the call rolling.

Best! Suzanne

Suzanne:

I have received several e-mails and phone calls regarding people who want to join in a class action. I believe we would have plenty of people to start one and could develop a website or like you mentioned, a chat room, elsewhere, if not here.

Share your thoughts with me. I work for two defense attorneys who cannot assist but may be able to find someone who could.

Have never started a class action and am unfamiliar with jurisdiction. Will do some research.

I intend to start a lawsuit against them as well. They refuse to accept my medical bills that list the medicine and the description of the item's function as sufficient proof of treatment.

They now want me to go get the vet to write a detailed explanation! for each and every item on each bill! And they do not cover the progression of any disease excluded by their exclusion list?? that basically says that they can refuse to cover just about anything at all.

The exclusion list is things that they do not cover. If they add to that list items that they have not included in the exclusion list, that is basically adding every other illness/disease/condition/problem to the list without writing it down as an excluded item that they do not have to cover. And it is incredibly underhanded, the way they have added that as a short line to the end of the list.

How are they legally allowed to get away with this?

They are downright maliciously robbing money without even the pretense of good business practice.

It seems like like every single business dealing with our beloved animals is polluted with the worst sort of human refuse, trying to bleed us for our money from the gaping wound of our anguish. I know there are righteous people in these businesses, but there is at least one large company in each Pet related industry whose effusion covers all the rest with the stench of their greed

I am going through it with them right now. It is so upsetting and hard to deal with.

This company should NOT be allowed to do this. I also just filed a claim with BBB.

Enough is enough. Count me in.

I just filed prescription med claims for my boxer - all of a sudden this "company" decides they can unilaterally incorporate this as a pre-existent condition that wasn't on our initial policy???????? I don't think so.

I work for a fine group of lawyers and guess what?? You're on the *** end of my stick you ***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let the war begin.

Count me in! They scam me as well after 12 years. Despicable business.

Guest

Count me in. I spent nearly $4000 to diagnose and treat my boxer and VPI will not reimburse any of the costs.

Maybe you need help coding your claim?

Guest

Totally agree with you. I had a claim for about $3000 for rehabilitation for my dog.

I had been paying for the top level of insurance with all the waivers for him. They reimbursed me about $60 claiming that the dog's condition was hereditary and thus not covered. I had my vet send a letter saying that in fact the condition was caused by a tumor. They agreed to re-look at the claim and increased the re-imbursement amount by $0.58.

They actually had the nerve to send me a check for 58 cents.

These guys are idiots. I'd gladly join in in a class action suit!

Hey did this ever go anywhere. I would have never known this until my dog got seriously ill, but VPIs coverage is only about 1/3rd what these expenses really cost!

I have been a loyal customer of VPI for over ten years. Recently my dog suffered a terrible accident and he had to have surgery on his shoulder.

I submitted my claim to VPI along with a detailed 25 page medical report. My Superior Plan with a close to $800.00 per year premium reimbursed me less then $1,500.00. After I posted my displeasure on their Facebook site, an agent was assigned to the case. The agent informed me that the plan paid me at 90% and there was not anything else that they could do for me.

This insurance puts 1950 price tags to various diseases and injuries and then claims to reimburse their clients at 90%. It is such a scam!

VPI should be put to sleep. I canceled my policy yesterday.

Anyone in California want to join forces and try to file a class action lawsuit against VPI? My issues with them have been going on for years and are similar to Vonny in San Francisco.

I've had enough of their BS and don't want other well-meaning pet owners taken by VPI. If interested, please email me at vpiclassaction1 at gmail dot com

yes... are you still interested.

i finally had my bad experience. their customary fee schedule is from some 3rd world country or something.. or maybe from 30 years ago. i had polyps removed and was charged $2500 and received the big payback from VPI of $400.

apparently the usual and customary fee should be around $200. hummmmm.. where is that vet? that can perform surgery at $200?

doesn't a grooming cost around $50?

or gentle dental at $60? what a fraud

How do we get in on the lawsuit? We have had VPI for about 10 months for our bulldog puppy.

Like puppies do, he has had an upset tummy a few times from eating something he shouldn't.

As concerned per parents do, we took him to our vet each time and ended up with crazy bills due to various blood tests, stool samples, x-rays to see if he swallowed something etc

Only now to have VPI refuse all claim payments AND to say its a pre-existing condition which is now also excluded from the policy altogether??? It's an upset tummy!!!
