Just got a Traxxas Stampede. Had it out 20 minutes and the left plastic caster block broke.

Ok I figured seeing that they sell optional aluminum parts that this was going to happen. Went to hobby store. Awesome experience. Bought aluminum blocks for $25.

Got home changed both. Within 5 minutes wheel is free. A machine screw came out. Hmmmm I thought maybe I forgot to tighten that side.

New screw. A couple minutes, gone. Ok this part is obviously machined out of tolerance. Other side zero movement.

I called hobby store was told Traxxas backs their parts and they would ship me a replacement. Wow. I called. Was told that I had to use a certain kind of loc-tite only and talked to me like I was an ***.

I called him out on it and tried to explain that one side is fine, the other won't hold a screw. I would be happy to send it back. He would not get off that this was not a faulty part and that some special loc-tite was my fault. Never said what kind.

I'm mad now. I ask to speak to supervisor, he says he is the supervisor. I ask to speak to another employee and he tells me no I have to listen to his lecture. I won't.

I demand an answer, will you replace this one part. He says I am an *** and that he told me in the very beginning he would. Really? That is a lie.

That is why I was getting upset because he would not tell me. So he says because I am an *** I have to mail the part in, they will inspect it and maybe send a new one. Too much. I refuse.

I call the hobby store, he is fuming. Tells me he will replace the part and deal with Traxxas himself.

Good luck. Regretting purchase and egotistical employees.

Reason of review: Damaged or defective.

A shiny red Stampede under the Christmas tree put a big smile on my son's face, but on it's 3rd run as we were starting to get it up to full speed in the driveway it burst into flames. Traxxas refused to pay return shipping, so right off the bat I was out about $30 sending it back for repair.

I expected them to just send a new truck, but they replaced nearly everything and sent it back with the nice red retail cover replaced with a cheap clear plastic one. Mechanically, everything was fine for about 2 weeks until the motor let go (felt like a bearing came apart). Traxxas issues a RMA, but again makes me pay return shipping. A few days after they received the motor they ask me to call them and they tell me they want me to pay $20 to replace the motor.

When I ask why it's not covered under warranty, they explain (seriously) that since they had to put $280 in parts into my $200 truck after the fire, I should have to pay for the motor under their electronic something or other program, but I was getting a great discount.

(Not sure how $20 + $8 S/H for a motor that I can buy for $17 on Amazon is such a 'great deal'.) I tried to point out the absurdity of the situation, but his 'hands were tied' by Traxxas' policy.

I really wanted to like the truck. It's loads of fun when it's not shredding motors or roasting chestnuts, but Traxxas' customer service utterly ruined this Christmas memory for a son and his dad.
