I purchased my 2009 Camry LE new. I have used a synthetic blend of Vavoline Oil from day one.

I have religiously changed the oil every 5,000 miles per the recommendation of Vavoline. Now at 60 thousand miles, I am burning through 4 quarts of oil in 5,000 miles. Something is wrong here. My last car was a 1997 Mercury Tracer with 230K mikes on it and it still didn't burn oil.

I don't see any smoke coming out of the exhaust, and the engine is dry as a bone, so it's not leaking. Is anyone else having problems with their 2009 Camry's burning oil?

Location: Ephrata, Pennsylvania

My 09 Camry runs great. It burns a quart every 1600 miles or so.

not enough for Toyota to take care of it.

They will fix it if it burns a quart every 1200 miles. I notice that when my Camry is brought in for an oil change

that they overfill it by almost a quart which would make it impossible to prove that it burns a quart in 1200 mi. after an oil change.

I would like to know if other 09 Camrys gets oil filled way over the full mark ? This is the second oil change

that this happened.

The service manager couldn't understand it because they fill it with a measured amount

and the mechanic said that he understood and put a little mark on the dipstick. Quite quaint !!! The mark and oil change level is about a quart over the full mark for the last two oil changes.

I love the Camry and it is my 4th new Camry but can I trust Toyota ? I am hearing a lot of good things about Suburu.

I have a 2009 Camry LE 4 cylinder which I bought new in 2004. I don't put many miles on a car so I didn't notice that I was loosing oil.

I have the car serviced every 6 months. I use about 1 quart every 2500 miles. The dealer will not do anything about it. I have been buying Toyota and Lexus for about 20 years and never had a car that used oil.

Dealer says that excessive oil consumption is over 1 quart in 1500 miles! Really......if I knew that I would not have bought the car with so low standards.

I have a 2008 Camry and am adding a quart every 1000 miles starting around 80K miles. I have always changed it every 3000 miles.

It has 90K miles on it now. I had an 1989 Camry for 19 years with no oil issues. Is Toyota offering a fix?

So much for them wanting to be a " green company". Prior to this I would consider purchasing another Camry but unless they are willing to fix the problem they won't get my business.

My 2009 Camry has this this same problem. Any progress on that class action suite?

I am very upset with my Camry 2009 LE , since last year, my husband keep telling me that the car are missing oil. I was joking with him and keep tell him that he is old.

But now I find out from google that a lot of people have the some problem and complain to Toyota. Toyota should do something , maybe a recall to make amends to customers.

I am having the same problem with my 2009 Camry 4 cylinder engine. It is burning about 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles.

I took it to the Toyota dealership this past Friday. They replaced the "O" ring on the dipstick, and recommended that I use engine oil additives to stop the oil consumption. This does not pass the sniff test with me.

All the mechanics I talk to state that Toyota knows they have a problem with these cars, and just do not know how they will handle as of yet. Class Action Law suite seems to be picking up momentum.
