In 1958 the company was called Pronto Markets, and just in 1967 the founder of the company, Joe Coulombe, changed the name to the original one. As of October 2011, Trader Joe's had a total of 367 stores. TJ SUPERMARKET is a privately held chain of specialty grocery stores headquartered in Monrovia, California. Approximately half of all stores of the company are located in California.
