If anyone out there is thinking of putting together a class action lawsuit please contact me! They have jerked me around now for 3 weeks.

Their product no longer works on iMac El Capitan - personally I think they did this on purpose because of the launch of their new cloud which requires you to pay - so that you can't just continue using your older neat scanner..

I emailed the company and they emailed back "directions" to solve the problem. The directions made no sense, so I emailed them again. They gave me additional directions. That too didn't work.

So I emailed them a 3rd time. They said I should call them, gave me a number, and said I should reference the provided case number. So I called. Seems you have to establish a paid account to actually get a live person on the phone, and if you don't pay, the computer hangs up on you.

So I emailed again. This time they said if I give them a 2 hour window they would call me.

So I leave work early (they can only do this during business hours), sit by the computer and phone, and just keep getting angrier and angrier....of course they don't call. Would love to sue them for doing this to us!

I too have a Neat System that all of a sudden kicked me out off my system requesting me to update my file cabinet then erased or โ€œtookโ€ all my scans. This prompt came from their software and placed my documents in their cloud and want to charge me for my scanned documents.

My neat desktop scanner will no longer work in the neat cloud. They tool a great system and made it junk!

I want to download all my files to my computer. I have thousands of files and cannot download them one by one. They are doing this to discourage people from going to other platforms. The end result is we must keep paying an annual fee forever to access our files.

It is time for legal action. How to proceed?

they don't know what is going on and wont help without subscription. I cant open my backups and software is no longer supported. Stay away from this company!

I agree. I have found a similar issues.

It's really frustrating.

It's fine if they change their business model but not without honoring their prior customers. I wish someone would file a class action to put pressure on the company to do the right thing.

THIS IS MY OPINION! No place to "count you in".

This thread has been going on for many years now, 4 to 5 years and nothing has ever come of this "class action" we all want to be part of. I'm far from knowledgeable on legal matters but thought by now someone would have stepped to the plate with know-how by now. This is a 4+ year old thread since it's inception and there have been plenty more before this one.

This is, I hate to say, pretty much a dead-head thread unfortunately, and Neat is loving it, they got away with murder! They will jerk you off forever with dead-end solutions, they are a bogus company I started with way back in January 2006, at that time they were new and great, then greed sank in and they screwed everybody!

I feel your pain. I just tried to use the scanner and Neat stated I need to pay $200 to use my damn scanner.

I get it if so was using their software but so just needed to scan receipts. This is how Neat screws everyone.

My scanner wouldnโ€™t even work. WTH!!

Purchased scanners and software (not cloud-based) years ago. We have a substantial database of documents in the Neat database.

Today (30-May-2020), launching the program pops-up a window asking for an online login, and, alas, Neat Desktop doesn't work. I've uninstalled, scrubbed the registry, o/s, etc. and re-installed (v.5.4)... no luck - same message.

Unfortunately, we (now) have no access to them - or, even a way to export them. This is preposterous!

We did not, nor did we want to, purchase/employ cloud-based software. This is an invasion of privacy, and outright, criminal!

Has ANYONE EVER gotten their lost data back? I have never been able to and customer service can't either.

It seems that when I switched over to their cloud service, most of my docs never uploaded, and then retro-synced and deleted those docs on my desktop software. Five days ago, my bank account was debited $161. WITHOUT NOTICE. My annual fee was $53 last year!!

I spent all day downloading and retrieving what docs I could, went online to cancel the service and they have already completed the charge for next year. My subscription expires tonight. The site let's me cancel for 2021, but not the current subscription. This company has screwed this up so badly.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one to go through this, but it is modern-day highway robbery what this company is doing.

A class-action law suit or something needs to happen. This is unconscionable.

I hear ya, jerked off for 5 years on my end. They need an attitude adjustment and maybe a class action would do it.

I have not a clue how to get one going... We all know what they are doing is criminal to say the least!

They should have just incorporated all of us previous purchasers into their new system or better yet kept the software running. Many of us wouldn't probably take the cloud offer as thats why we store on our computer, security!!!

Is there a way to sue this shady company. I have the original packaging that states that I am buying the scanner and software.

Is there a law that protects consumers against companies that to this. How can they disable the software to force us to buy a subscription.

Did anyone go further on this lawsuit ?! I would love to join as well i keep getting told that i can use my software that came with it for free however it no longer works with my systems they downloaded thru remote support their beta software at the time.

which now the "FREE TRIAL" has expired and now they are not letting me sign in to see my items which has my bank accounts linked as well unless i pay for a their subscription. I have never been so annoyed with an company and their scams as i am with this one.

I am one of the original users since January of 2006, they have been trying to dump us since 2015 or earlier as most know. I cannot believe a Class Action has not gotten off the ground.

Has everyone abandoned the thought? Really surprised an attorney has not picked up on this!

Absolutely a useless product. The software engineers have to be hired from low grade colleges to put something like this together. Customer service sucks, Deal me in on a class action
