In 1935, State Department Federal Credit Union was chartered through the efforts of eight employees of the Department of State. Originally named the U.S. Department of State Employees Federal Credit Union, its current name was established in 1945, when the company had a total of 975 members. Now, over 74 years later, the membership of State Department Federal Credit Union has increased to more than 67,000 members worldwide.
