I knew paying in advance meant huge fees for modifying or cancelling reservation. First, absolutely no money back and modification is within such a narrow window that being given credit for a flight is essentially not available either.

My friend was flying during Spirit Airline's modification window. My friend could also use Spirit Airline's limited ports, but you are not allowed to change names on tickets. This means that so if you can't fly no one else can use your tickets. So they essentially stole from me $400.00.

$120.00 of that money were items that if wanted day of flight (seat assignment, baggage . . .) would cost substantially more. As a disabled individual, who saved for months for this ticket, they also stole my entire trip celebrating my 60th birthday.

I needed modification due to health issues.

Please do not fly Spirit Airlines!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reason of review: Unable to trade product.

Monetary Loss: $400.

Preferred solution: Allow me to chane name and modify flight. I would still be losing $200.00 but I would at least get some compensation..

Spirit Airlines Cons: Give flight credit to someone else.

Location: Houston, Texas

There is very little room for negotiation when trying to change a name on a ticket with every single airline in this country. Correcting a spelling is fairly simple.

Changing to a completely different person, not so much. This is for the safety of everyone in and airport and on the plane.

You said you are 60 years old. The terms for ticket refunds are available on every airline website for you to read before you buy a ticket. You failed to read them.

That is your fault.

And no, I do not work for any airline. People do not have to be an employee of a company to tell you that you made a mistake.

If you are 60, then you are old enough to read and know the terms applicable to what you are buying. If you want someone else to fly on your ticket, buy a refundable ticket and when you cancel you can give the money to them.

Spirit is not a thieve, buy your honesty is questionable for bad mouthing them about something you agreed to.

The purpose for prohibiting others from flying on your ticket by way of a name change is to protect the flying public. If passengers could do what you want, then small businesses would arise that did nothing but buy up every cheap ticket as soon as possible. After all, they can change the name later when someone buys these tickets at a higher price.

You would never have a chance for a low price ticket and would be at the mercy of those persons who had bought up all the cheap tickets.

Since transferring tickets is not allowed, this type of business is nipped in the bud.
