We built our home in 2013 with Shea. Our roof began to leak and three roofers have told us it is due to improper installation of the flashing.
We built our home in Hollister in 2013. We had issues from the beginning with customer service but that is a whole other issue. Our house has two small extensions, one at the bay window and one over the kitchen. They both began to leak during Hurricane Florence.
We contacted Shea and they said we were out of our two year warranty and that it was due to the storm intensity. We had little wind and a normal rain. Certainly nothing catastrophic. We then proceeded to contact roofing companies.
Three roofing companies and one engineering company told us that the roof was installed improperly. The flashing was not installed correctly and that this was a builder issue. We took this back to Shea. They again basically told us too bad it was on us.
We then reached out to our insurance to we if there was anything they could do. No. It is a builders issue because Shea installed our roof improperly, more so the company they used. Here we are weeks later with tarps up on our custom house and no solution.
We had another storm 10-11-18 and the roof began leaking into the kitchen yet again. We contacted Shea once again. The representative Kimberly actually hung up on me. Hung the phone up on their customer.
The customer service is horrendous at Shea Homes. I am appalled. If this was their child in a custom home that was leaking due to builder fault and the builder basically said too bad how would they feel? I am a Charlotte Fireman and worked very hard to get us into this home and we have a builder who could care less about the quality of their homes.
We are extremely disappointed and will never recommend a Shea Home. At this point we will be contacting a lawyer.
