I have an ongoing issue with past date products at my local Safeway which they have not addressed by the store management. On August 14th, I bought some Wish Bone Robusto Italian Dressing packets at the Oakland Park, FL location (UPC #0413********).

When I got them home and went to use them, I noticed that the best by date was 6 months prior. When I went back to exchange it, I saw that all of the others on the shelf were the same date - Feb 13, 2016. I brought them back to customer service with me and told the woman they all were old and she thanked me for bringing them up. On the 19th, I was back in the store and checked to see if they were back in stock - and instead found the old ones were back out.

I brought them up to my regular cashier and she apologized and called a manager over as I was leaving to explain the issue. Then on September 7th, I checked again while shopping and they were back on the shelf. At that point I posted a comment complaining on the Safeway Facebook page. Samantha from customer support replied and said they were sending my complaint to the store director to review.

September 14, I replied that the product was still on the shelf. Rebecca replied saying that it was unacceptable and they would escalate the problem so that it would be resolved. As of today, December 16th, they are STILL ON THE SHELF.

I had this same issue over a year ago with Terry's Chocolate Oranges at the same store (at that time under the Albertson's name) - that time it took me bringing them up 4 times, a complaint to the manufacturer and a phone call to the store manager to finally get them off the shelf. I still regularly find other outdated products on the shelf, but have decided if they're just going back on the shelf until some sucker buys it, why waste my time and breath to bring it to someone's attention.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Preferred solution: Actively check for products past date and remove them from shelves so they are not sold..

Safeway Pros: Friendly cashiers.

Safeway Cons: Past date products on shelves.

They were born an Albertson's store, but then later on they became a Safeway.
