I don't believe my expectations are too high. I expect that once a week my garbage is picked up. I completely understand that there are environmental factors that may cause delays, but it has been almost one year since my garbage was picked up on time. Approximately once a month, I have to call the customer service line and report a missed pickup. It is often days later, or sometimes they just don't come for that week. As I read through the other reviews, it is evident that this is a problem everywhere. Out of 1,518 reviews, 85% of them are one star. I'm sure that more customers would complain but they've given up! This shows this is a systemic problem with your company. Not only are you unreliable but you don't respond well to complaints about service.

Trash day is scheduled for Wednesday. Sometimes, our street is skipped with no communication, other times only I or one of my neighbors is skipped. When I call customer service, I am told to leave the trash out and it will be picked up in 24 hours. Since when is 24 hours the weekend or the next week? The company's customer service is a joke. If you manage to get a customer service representative you can actually understand, you can expect to be told whatever it takes for them to get you off the phone. Why hire representatives that can't speak English well? Several calls, same result. A big fail! Missed pickup on a Wednesday, called, promised pickup within 24 hrs, called every day, now it's Saturday and the trash is still waiting to be picked up.

I complained to the township supervisor’s office about this and have been told that they are aware of the problem and working with Republic Services to correct the problem. Unfortunately, I don't have the option to use another company. If I could give them zero stars, I would. Stay away from using this company!

Accolades for customer resolution

I had an intense conversation with their customer service relations manager who is named Kim. She was so Helpful and listen to my query intently.

She gathered all of the facts, and made not only an educational decision, but an emotionally intelligent one. She was the perfect combination of protecting her company, and their assets yet caring for the customer and understanding the problems.

She was very patient, and I do believe she deserves a raise!!
I wish I had her last name so she could get full accolades, but her first name is Kim and shes in the resolutions department. Thank you, your kindness, Kim!!

None of the online selections are working. So that wasn,t fun. The first phone number I tried two times was only for payment. So that was the opposite of fun. Then waiting about 15 minutes was also un-fun. Once the representative answered, things went much better. I wouldn't say she resolved the problem. She was very sympathetic to my situation. Which was encouraging. Finally my trash was picked up later than normal. So that was fun! Your customers would probably feel unappreciated being put through all of this. My problem is some what rare however. I live in a little neighborhood where there's only about 12 of your customers. So we get forgotten quite often. I don't think anyone else in this neighborhood will be using your service because we all talk to each other. Everyone here is aware of the problem. I moved here 5 years ago from Toledo. Republic Services does a top notch job there. So I know your capable of better. We in this little neighborhood feel forgotten and unimportant. I haven't given up on you yet. As the fee goes up while the service goes down, well I think it's just simple math. Hopefully someone finds this summary that can make a difference.
