Our family have been loyal customers for around 35 years. I read the poor reviews on this site re: chipped, hairline cracks.

All of this has happened to us. But far more recently.

Would like to enlighten folks who come to this site:

Pfaltzgraff was founded in America. The factory was in America. Every piece was handcrafted with loving care, stamped "Pfaltzgraff, Made in USA" on the back. We own a kitchen full of prized Pfalzgraff heirlooms: Tea Rose, Folk Art, Yorktowne, Remembrance.

Then Farberware, Lifetime Brands took over. They outsourced the work to China and destroyed the factory here in America. In short, they violated every beautiful thing this company stood for. The artistry, the quality, the standards: all gone.

They are a glaring reminder that America is treated as a fourth-world country (a step below third-world). Shame meant to be wept over.

Reason of review: Not as described/ advertised.

Location: Brooklyn, New York

The handles came off two of my mugs. One fell off after I removed it from the dishwasher. Unfortunately, the other one fell off while I was drinking a hot cup of tea.

I know this is an old post, but I had to comment as it really struck a chord. I have an old set of Pfaltzgraff Heirloom, which I have used daily for over 30 years.

While it has some wear, it has held up very well against the test of time, microwaves, dishwashers and kids. I am ready for another set for a change of pace. I wanted to add another Pfaltzgraff collection to my home, but I noticed on their website that the reviews were more negative than positive. I knew that at one point the company had started outsourcing the work to China.

Now, as with everything else that was once done in America and is now outsourced to China, we have a product that is far inferior to the original, but a company that still wants to charge premium prices and ride on the coattails of the past life of this company. I won't be purchasing anything else from them, but it is really a sad commentary on what has been allowed to happen all around us. Clearly, the almighty dollar is all that matters to the CEO's running today's corporations.

The only way to change this is to refuse to buy their products. Sorry for the rant, but it goes so much deeper than dinnerware, and it had to be said.

I agree with you! One solution you might try it to buy the older made Pfaltzgraff from yard/garage sales and auctions. I have done this and have wonderful and beautiful complete sets that will last for many more years.

I would have them tested for lead then. The older China from any company usually tests very high in lead.
