We just re-checked Dr. Pearson's license, first checked three years ago before our dog's first visit.

We are shocked to learn that the CA Veterinary Medical Board placed Dr. Pearson on five years probation, effective September 19, 2019. On July 26, 2019, The State of CA Veterinary Medical Board, represented by the CA Attorney General Office, stated, "IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that Veterinarian License No. VET 12504 issued to Respondent Dorota Pearson is revoked.

However, the revocation is stayed and Respondent is placed on probation for five (5) years on the following terms and conditions..." (go to search.dca.ca.gov for The Board accusations, amended, and STIPULATED SETTLEMENT AND DISCIPLINARY ORDER). Had we known about the Board's 2018 accusations, amended, or the subsequent settlement and disciplinary order during our three years of visits, we would not have considered or would have abandoned this practice sooner.

Disappointed, Overpriced, and Lacking

My spouse and I have been using Dr. Pearson's services the past three years, previously good services and low costs. However, the last two visits this year have been deeply disappointing.

Today, our dog had an exam and his annual sedated teeth cleaning.

We are shocked that the bill is $438 compared to last year's $320 bill, a $118 increase.

More importantly, earlier in March this year, after our dog was bitten by another dog, we immediately brought our dog in at 4:30 pm. Upon partial completion of a wound repair, we were told at 5:45 pm to come back for a drainage tube early the next morning. However, returning home, our dog bled again.

As Pearson Animal Hospital had closed, we rushed him to California Veterinary Specialists Emergency Room in Carlsbad for complete and successful treatment.

When you need sedated teeth cleaning, please carefully consider this practice's new pricing. If you need ER care, PLEASE go directly to an ER hospital.

User's recommendation: Avoid this practice.

Product or Service Mentioned: Pearson Animal Hospital Pet Medical Service.

Preferred solution: Document this practice's disappointing new prices and lack of complete care.

Pearson Animal Hospital Cons: Overpriced, Incomplete care, This year higher prices and poor wound care, Higher prices, Disappoint and poor wound care, Poor wound care.

I have used Pearson's Animal Hospital and have specifically received service from Dr. Pearson hundreds of times while caring for our rescue organizations dogs.

I also know that many other rescue organizations take their dogs there exclusively. Our reasons are that she is conservative in her approach to clinical medicine and doesn't try to precociously oversell services which is a much more common practice in this field. General medicine and surgery are their scope and if specialty care is best indicated she makes a referral to one of several specialty practices/clinics.

They have brought in a number of new DVMs in the past couple of years because the practice is growing and I am careful to assess the performance and suggestions of new doctors against what I have come to learn is the historical approach and philosophy. Of late, the terrible scheduling delays which are common to every clinic as also an issue at this practice but I believe that this is a trend in the field and not the fault of an individual practitioner.
