I actually worked at a pmps before and i totally agree... the main reason i left was because i couldnt stand watching the system take advantage of literally poor people and not even letting them use color on their mannequins and charging them $3 dollars more for a tube of color than it actually costs...

i feel for the students that are trained here... they have no discipline and are not getting tought proper at all... i was told as a learning leader that if i checked a haircut to tell the student it looked great even if it didnt so i didnt kill their self esteem... HELLO these students are there to learn!!

They want to know if its not right...

oh i could go on and on but i wont... it is a big waste of $$ and you can get a better education at a community college and pay under $4,000

Hey, my name is Rebecca. I was a student at PMTS.

Me and some of my classmates are super disappointed with Paul michell. I'm getting together letters from students and learning leaders together, talking bout about their experiences and how they were effected by the

negative circumstances Paul Mitchell created. If you want to contribute, please email letters to lawrebecca96@***.com. Pleas include your age, what school you went to/taught at, what time frame you went to shook, and if you were a student your circumstances during school, like did you pay for school or were there loans/family involved, did you live alone or with family or with your own family, traumatic experiences that happened during school, and so on.

They will be going to John Paul and Winn Claybaugh!! Thank you so much!!

Hey, my name is Rebecca and I'm trying to get in contact with Winn Claybaugh. I was a student of pmts in Virginia and it was the worst experience.

I'm getting a couple of my friends to write about their experiences in hopes to get some changes around the school.

I would love to get a letter from you as well just kind of talking about the poor treatment of the students, as well as poor treatment of the learning leaders. If you could email me at lawrebecca96@***.Com I would love to talk about you getting involved!

I really think it depends on where the school is located, I graduated from one in Cincinnati Ohio. They tought us all the things we needed to know, never had any extra charges besides what they told me I would be charged for my tuition of couse, and I believe the material was tought well and ive never had any problems, everyone was always kind, even the students, but it may just be because there are different people in charge of each school and each run it differently.

I'm interested in going to school for cosmetology. Can anyone suggest the best school in Saint Louis city area? I've looked at quite a few and this is the only school i see that has reviews :roll :)

:cry :( Paul Mitchell the school Bradley is a complete joke! When I first started this school I was extremely excited, I even got the opportunity to attend Caper.

I was pretty disappointed while I was in Core after I learned that basically if you did not work in a Paul Mitchell based salon after graduation you were basically at a disadvantage since they only teach Paul Mitchell cuts and Colors. Which is my fault for not looking more into it. But then a bunch of terrible things started happening to my family. My sister was hospitalized, then released and went to visit my cousin in texas where my two cousins and my sister were in a terrible car wreck, then my dad who is a major pill popper is worse than hes ever been.

I WAS SERIOUSLY DEPRESSED. So in order to get away from all of this I was moving in with my aunt and uncle. Which is 45 mins away from my school but I thought, well thats okay. Theres a Paul Mitchell school in Tinley Park that is owned BY THE SAME EXACT PERSON.

Nope. They he did not care. No way was he letting me transfer. Even after I offered to start over.

I had had a meeting with the admissions leader and director at the Bradley location where they had wanted me to tell them what was going on. So I did and the entire time I felt like they weren't really listening they were just hoping I'd shut up. And they had just felt obligated to help me. My mom also told the owner of both schools what had been going on and why I was moving and he replied with "Anyone should be able to handle those situations".

Instead of helping me, they have made it 20x harder on me.

As of now I only owe them about 4000 dollars. & you best believe I am OUT OF THAT SCHOOL.

These negative reviews are the truth! It is a shame to stoop to such low practices.

I saw and heard things that should never happen. It is not uncommon for the top management to use the F bomb or to use fear "Or Else" as in the Be Nice Or Else book . The top management should practice behind the scenes what you want the public to believe and hold themselves accountable.

it is interesting how we put people on a pedestal just because they take the stage and preach some "good feeling" concepts. Study elsewhere not worth the money.

It starts at the very top. You need to contact John Paul Dejoria of Paul Mitchell Systems in Los Angeles.

The owners are connected to Winn. They will not do anything to thwart him in any way.

Have you not heard of the book "Be nice or else"? They do not want to experience the Or Else.

Who said HE is not the problem?

To fatgirl. If your going to complain, be honest.

No they won't get abetter education at a community college. They do not charge more than the tube of colors cost. They charge for the service. I colored my mannequins all the time.

Was never told no. The learning leaders are the best in the business. There aren't over 100 of these schools in the country cause they don't what they are doing. And as alearning leader I have never been told to tell them the cuts are amazing.

You are there to guide them. So you do tell them what, if anything is wrong with the cut. That is why it is a school. So take your sorry ***, lame life and go somewhere else with it.

Obviously you are the one that is lacking self esteem. Paul Mitchell is the best in the business. I went to two different Paul Mitchell schools in two different states and learned a really great foundation there. So take your fatgirl *** and look in the mirror.

You also failed to mention about all the charity work and giving back that they get to do or all the events that you are given the opportunity to do and how they help you with job placement and resumes and how the owners John Paul Dejoria and Winn Claybaugh are very approachable and always write back any and all emails that they get from students. You should be ashamed of yourself for lying and putting it on this site.

Lol way to prove what turds work there by calling someone fat! Very professional!

Way to get your point across.

Apparently you never read the poorly written cult book "be nice or else". I never understood the phrase "those who can't, teach" until I attended Paul Mitchell.

My experience with this school was aggravating to say the least. I tried to register my daughter, and kept getting told she couldn't apply until her FAFSA could be viewed.

We attempted three times; the last visit with the financial aid officer made me completely upset. We could not get a definate date of when they would "run" the information so we could know exactly how much would be out of pocket, and our options for loans.

I had to ask for a copy of the official IRS tax transcript I requested while in her office (since she was going to give the number and I can return at at later date.) I was completely offended by their lack of customer service, and disappointed in their lack of admissions' structure. They truly missed an oppurtunity to serve a graduate.

I would like any feedback specific to Paul Mitchell Schools in Utah.

My daughter was a Paul Mitchell student until today. We found out my husbands job is transferring him out of state and will be moving soon.

We requested that my daughter be transferred to their school in Charleston SC. We were told that in order for this particular location to transfer her records she would have to pay nearly $5000 to the school saying that was her tuition to date.

She has attended school exactly 15 days!!!! How in the *** if the total tuition is $17,000+ for the entire program does 15 days warrant almost $5,000?

We are very unhappy and will be looking into legal options as we are not made of money that is why my child receives financial aid to start with as she is paying for this school herself!

Very Pissed Off in Ky!

Hello were you able to resolve this issue because the same thing happened to me back in 2012 and I have yet to figure a resolution.

PMTS of Orlando was a rip off. The staff had their favorites.

they didn't acknowledge the ones that was passionate about their work , because they were intimidated by them. Most of the learning leaders where younger then the future professional and the LLD gosip more then the students. Everyones time was messed up, making everyone go over their 120 hours so they can suck $10 an hour out of you. They full of *** and only about money.

Unless you kissing *** they dont care about you. The phase 2 LLD only excepted ppl she favorite to work in phase 2.

I attend Paul Mitchell. Everything you people are saying is completely rediculous.

So what if people pay more money for products and services. It's cheaper than any other well respected salons. fake it till you make it.. all that's saying is keep your positive attitude and professionalism until you're alone or somewhere you can vent.

maybe you should try it instead of bashing it on the internet. i love the paul mitchell family, it's always rocky at first and everyone thinks the be nice culture is ***. have you even read the book though? everything in it makes so much sense.

ever since i gave the school an actual chance i have loved every day more and more. we pay so much money because paul mitchell is very well known and highly respected. One of my best friends went into a salon and got hired the day of because she was from paul mitchell..

sorry. but i think 17,000$ for a like of success is worth it.

I've instructed at community college beauty schools, and Paul Mitchell the school. The one in downtown San Diego, CA [The Robert Cromean owned school] in particular.

I completely understand the costs of the Paul Mitchell schools are extremely ridiculous, and all of the "culture" is simply laughable- the actual cutting/coloring education [if taught properly without "Paul Mitchell culture" interjections] is actually far more accurate and efficient a technique [being Vidal Sassoon based], but also quite a bit more then you learn cutting/color wise in standard beauty school. The Paul Mitchell schools cater to a particular kind of professional, not simply making you a licensed cosmetologist.

Unfortunately, [for my position as a learning leader] due to the educational director of the SD CA school- the way the Paul Mitchell technique is taught has become butchered [replacing specialized LL's who know very well how to teach, with cheaper look-a-like LL's who only know cultural terminology]. Where we would once praise quality over quantity has become a school antithesis. And "Fake it 'til you make it" supplements for quality.

Maybe one day, Vidal Sassoon will break down the doors and stop all this debauchery.

But then again, I've always prized him over Robert Cromean anyday ;)

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on the matter. I've been called a PM NAZI most of my career, but the proof is in the pudding.

Some of the negative experiences have been linked to instructors not doing a proper job on their end and as a result has a bad reflection on the whole company. I've heard negative comments from students @ the school in my area in Fl, but those problems stem from those running the school (not the culture on the company). If you don't like the way you were treated, write a letter to the owner of the partner school. If thar doesn't work, write Winn Claybaugh (and trust me he doesn't take kindly to finding out there is misconduct going on).

I personally know of someone who got a "very personal" phone call when some shady info got back to him. Don't down the whole company b/c of experience @ your particular school. I'm quite sure things are different @ other schools. We are @ the top of the industry in nearly every category.

I hope you can find it in yourself to see the good in the whole.

Deal with the negative and move on to the next. GOD BLESS!!!!
