June 30 09 purchased airtex fuel pump from orielly's auto parts for my 98 dodge diesel. Had to go to a garage and it took three people to put on the new pump, at a charge of 75.00.

The pump was about 150.00. The truck has not had 10000 miles put on it since the repair and the new pump is failing again. Airtex has a one year warranty, but I am at 14 months. Oriellys has a sign up in their store, that they will not longer sell Airtex pumps for GM vehicles because of all of the returns.

The original pump had 175000 miles on it. What is this company doing?

I know the feeling, this pump is the worst *** I have ever seen, 4 pumps in just over a year, 1st replace lasted 2 days, 3rd 6 mos, 4th this week only 2 mos, that's got to be some kind of record. They claim made in America but if you look real close on the box is says assembled with parts produced in a foreign country.

I waiting now for my OEM pump and i hope that's the last. The original pump that came with my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee lasted 179,000 miles, wow.

Bought an airtex fuel pump for my 96 dodge ram 1500. After installing the pump I come to find out that the wiring harness that came with the pump was constructed upside down.

A manufacturing problem. Needless to say I now have to fabricate a functional harness. I will never buy or advocate for airtex again.

I will however from now until I die make sure that no friend or family use their products. Regardless of the availability of their product over one I'd have to have special ordered.

I too bought a bad Airtex fuel pump, it was DOA. I took it back to the parts store, and asked them to order a different brand pump (it did cost a bit more), which after it arrived and I installed it, worked fine and still works fine. If Oreilly is discontinuing selling Airtex pumps because of frequent failures, they are doing their customers a good service.

First of all, understand, O'Reilly DID NOT MAKE THE PUMP, so why are you complaining about THEM and not AIRTEX who made it??? IF O'Reilly will no longer sell any for GM vehicles, then they are trying to help the consumer.

If your pump is 14 months old (2 months out of warranty) I guarantee O'Reilly will make it good if you are polite about it and ask for a warranty. You may have to go thru the DM or customer satisfaction dept. but they will honor it I feel. But again, why complain on the company who sold it, not the company who made it???

Do you think O'Reilly wants or wanted to sell you a bad pump and make you made? Doubtful......

just out of curiousity you changed the strainer fuel filter and ran some diesel fuel injector cleaner after you installed the pump right

It sounds to me like they saw they had a problem and decided to do the best thing for their customers and discontinue that brand.
