I have tried to refill existing prescriptions using the OptumRX website. Unlike CVS Caremark, which was CalPERS's pharmacy supplier until this year, there is no button to click to order a refill, no QR code on the bottle to scan with an app to automatically order...

I've run out of two separate medications while waiting for a response from my email inquiries, which have never come. The only way to reorder a refill seems to be printing out a mail order form, filling it out and mailing it to them. And if you reorder a prescription that has no refills remaining, that cancels the whole order even though the rest are refillable. As for calling their customer service number, that works better in that at least you talk to someone, but twice now they have "never received" the faxed prescriptions from my doctor even though I have verified the fax number and had my doctor refax twice.

I ended up having my doctor fax them to a local pharmacy where even though he ordered a 90 day supply I can only get 30 days filled at a time. I finally got my doctor to give me a written prescription today for a refill on a medication of which I only have 5 days worth remaining - I figure it's going to be a pretty close call by the time OptumRX receives the mailed prescription, fills it, mails it and I receive it.

Think they can do all that in 5 days (two of which will be weekend days)? We'll see.

I wish there was a CalPers thread so the Board could see these emerging problems. I've been out for over a month, of a medicine I've taken for decades with no interruption.

Maybe their cost savings plan is blanket denial and/or a broken system that results in non-delivery of medicine.
