Norwegian Cruise Line - Wife is pregnant, NCL refuses refund due to Zika danger to baby.
My wife is pregnant, and we were advised by our doctor not to travel to areas affected by the Zika virus. Norwegian Cruise lines will not refund us.
My wife and I are booked on a Norwegian Cruise in 30 days and we just found out that we are expecting a baby. After our first check up the doctor advised us not to travel to areas affected by the Zika virus which includes every location we would have been traveling to on the cruise. We contacted to cruise line to explain our situation. We spoke to several representatives who all gave us different answers.
Some were nice and said we should be able to get a refund, some not so much. After speaking to several people we were told that they would not refund the $2,600 we paid. I don't understand how they would have the right to keep this money when they are not providing us a service? We will not risk the life of our unborn baby which is what they seem like they would have us do.
It seems obvious that profits are more important to them than a life. This is a lot of money to us, and I will continue to do everything in my power to get back what is rightfully ours.
This is not an easy situation for us to miss this trip because it is my mothers wedding, and my whole family is going including my elderly grandparents who I would love to spend this time with. It seems that Norwegian Cruise Lines does not care about its customers no matter how serious the situation.
