*** Meetup.com Members Harassing Women
When I first arrived in New York City, someone mentioned to me that I should join Meetup.com to meet people.
As a social, professional woman who's attended social events in numerous cities, I've never met so many creeps, drunks, and people who would be deemed unacceptable in any normal group offline.
I had men stalk me, jealous women try to fight me and so many ridiculous experiences during my Meetup experiment that I'm still in shock that all that happened actually occurred.
When I complained to Meetup group organizers, they didn't want to deal with it- apparently there are so many social rejects that belong to these groups that it's just considered "normal" to the organizers.
For any attractive, smart woman looking to meet people in NYC, I cannot warn you enough that you will be making a big mistake with this web site. I attended approximately 30 events and at least 20 of them were negative in one way or another.
Reason of review: Poor customer service.
Meetup Cons: Stalkers, Creeps, Unfit organizers.
Location: New York, New York

This review is very biased. Meetup groups that are successful will have strict policies in weeding out undesirables by competent Organizers that know how to manage people.
Often people signing up to meetups will not read what they are getting into and experience level of the person hosting events.
Obviously this woman has joined some low quality meetups and is looking for somebody to blame. Any attractive woman would already know how to handle creeps and stalkers that are not just found on meetup.
Thanks for blaming the victim.
you are right. most meetups seem to consist of some *** or inappropriate people.
i think that it's true that many of these people are pretending or using the facade of whatever hobby, interest, social function etc to latch onto people (if they can) as an ulterior motive rather than genuine friendliness. It seems like there are a lot of sociopaths who are looking test boundaries.
They are fine with those 1)they are not interested in or as curious about or 2) they do not find you physically attractive. so sexual harassment, or veiled harassment as well as unusual focus or curiosity about you can signal more than just general social friendliness.
It's not just men that are the creeps with meetup.com. There are women too!
I personally know a woman who uses meet up.com as a way to meet men and use them for whatever she wants out of them. She joins a group, gets chummy with the men, and waits for one of them to ***. She then manipulates him to date her and completely lies to him about everything. About her job, her family, her past, just everything!
Then when he figures out he is being used and breaks all ties with her, she leaves the group and starts spreading lies and rumors about him.
Just stay away from meet up.com, both men and women! It is not safe at all!!!!!!!
Men who wanted to date you - you probably found *** Lol
I had a guy message on on meet up totally out of the blue. Someone I never ever met or seen via any group.
He said he wanted to get to know me.
But didn't even bother spelling my name correctly.
I told him I wasn't interested so he decided to start calling me names and abusing me.
Totally uncalled for and unwanted.
Some people just have anger issues.
Maybe, you're just a rude turd, that thinks her spelling is perfect.
:-)
no wonder you're "anonymous"...you're comments are ***
