My Father in Law was Diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in December of 2015 at Hershey in Pennsylvania. He and my mother in law came to live with us in February of 2016 to attend MD Anderson.

It was told to them by many that this was the #1 rated Hospital in the U.S. My father in law went to his initial appointment, wrote all of his medications, his issues and Dr. V was suppose to order a EKG and cardiac work up with a Cardiologist. It never happened.

Then they were suppose to go and get a biopsy of the Pancreas to prove that it was in fact Pancreatic Cancer. That too, never happened. My inlaws were then told it definitely was Pancreatic cancer and they were going to start Chemotherapy appointments. His first Chemo Treatment was at the beginning of March 2016.

They sat at the hospital from 8:00 A.m. until nearly 7:00 P.m. It had been told from day one there would be delays due to the integration of a new software they were in process of learning/installing. I took him back for his second Chemo appointment in Mid March, I mentioned to them that they heard nothing about the Cessation program, as they were suppose to schedule it at his first appointment in February.

Yet again, nothing ever happened. He went for his third treatment at the end of March, missed his fourth because of the floods and ended up weak, extremely weak. He fell on the floor in my bathroom and we called EMS to have him transported to MD Anderson. When he was taken in, the Nurse took nearly two hours to get a work up on him.

His blood pressure had dropped, had missed his pain pills and they refused to give them. They decided to do a CT scan and he was already in Duress. The nurse stressed to the doctor that "I Just got off of my break and that is why the blood work is not done and results are not in, now I am entering his information into the system." Since when did paperwork become the "primary" for care rather than a patient that is clearly IN TERRIBLE PAIN and then undergoes respiratory failure as a result of trying to put him into an MRI? She catheterized him and because the doctor saw there was a leak in the line, the nurse was going to attempt to put in a bigger catheter.

He was already screaming and yet she didn't care? When did a Nurses job become less compassionate? So, finally nearly 3 hours later they got him up to ICU unit and talked to my mother in law about doing Dialysis. This was at 2:00 in the afternoon on the 28th when he was admitted at nearly 2:00 A.M.

They never got the paperwork down to her, never came and got her as they said they would. She finally came back to the house at 11:45 P.M. on the 28th to shower, change and was going to go back to the hospital. I called and they said they started Dialysis, he was stable and they were going to take him down for a CT scan.

She went back, I got the call from her the morning of the 29th while I was driving to the hospital that he went into Cardiac arrest and they could not fix it. We had to pull the plug at nearly 11:00 A.M., he passed at 11:45.

I would NEVER go to this hospital with the incompetence that aboads, when patient care has taken the back seat and paper work becomes primary this is not the place for your loved ones. BEWARE..

Reason of review: Death due to incompetence.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

MD Anderson Cancer Center Cons: Lack of follow up, Lack of empathy, Lack of integrity, Lack of job skills on nursing in the emergency, Lack of follow up while integrating system.

Location: Cypress, Texas

I am really sorry that that happened to your father and your family. Post this review on Yelp and MD Anderson will definitely see it and contact you.

You could also try contacting the patient advocate department. My dad had pancreatic cancer and went there as well. They are horrible when it comes to scheduling and caring for patients. The doctors tend to be top notch but the support staff is terrible.

If you look at all of the doctors' salaries then you will see why the support staff is so horrible. They spent all of their money on the doctors.....
