Mavis Discount Tire is a ripoff and they lie to steal your money!! Do NOT do business with them!

I had a tire checked by a mechanic since it had a very slow leak in one tire on my car. He put the tire in a tub of water and saw a slow leak from a nail in the tread. My mechanic was leaving on vacation and said he does not fix tires for leaks. So I went to a local Mavis Discount Tire store to get it fixed.

The criminals at Mavis told me it would cost only $20 to plug the nail hole in the tread. Two hours later I was billed $180 because they lie and said there was *** in the sidewall of that tire but another tire had a nail hole in it. They said they sidewall of the tire cannot be plugged so they had to replace the tire and patch the other one. I had to pay the bill to get my car back from these crooks.

Then when I paid they made me sign the receipt for the work with some disclaimer to release any liabilty against them - or else they would not give me back my car even though I paid them after they ripped me off!!! STAY AWAY FROM THE CRIMINALS AT MAVIS DISCOUNT TIRE!!!

That's why YOUR mechanic said he doesn't fix tires( come on) really. My guess your nail was too close to the SIDEWALL on your original tire.

And when they check your car for YOUR safety they noticed another nail that was fixable. And you trust "your" mechanic that doesn't fix tires???? No he wouldn't fix it and you tried someone else.

. I could be wrong but I have seen this movie before.

"Irene" ?

When did they start hiring women ?

I was told they would never ever hire women ---- I guess that law suit made them come into the 20th. century --

And did she try to "Up-sell" you on things you dont need ?

When I did buildings maintenance for them -- my boss said the owners would "never" hire women ---about a month after I left - I was contacted by a lawyer who asked me about anything I saw or heard --- there was really nothing I could do to help her ---- she got my home # from a anonymous source still working in the main office which I didn't have a problem with.

I told her when someone gets killed from faulty equipment -- call me.

The Mavis Warwick store is a complete laughing joke. The service manager Irene has no idea what she is doing, talks to me like I am mentally challenged, tells me to follow her to look at my car but ushers me over like I am a dog.

Their mechanics have no clue what they are doing, or I should say their only mechanic because I was told my wait time was so long because they only employed one mechanic presently. This place is a disgrace to do business with let alone speak with any of their employees.

Went to Latham Store for tire rotation. Left with no ABS system.

After complaining, the service manager found and fixed the problem. He told me the rear right & Left Abs rubber boots were hanging by the ABS wires. He said I must have hit something, to caused them to fall. THE PROBLEM IS THERE ARE NO RUBBER BOOTS THAT CONTAIN THE ABS SYSTEM.

HE JUST TURNED THE LIGHT OFF. I am in the process of writing aleetr holding them liable for any injuries that accur as a result of no ABS system.

All Mavis employees are forced to sell extra work on every car brought in or risk be fired or in most cases demoted to a much slower shop much further from there home to force a quitting employee to not be able to collect unemployment. Every car over 30000 miles needs all fluids flushed whether bad or not.

Every car over 50000 miles needs shocks or struts leaking or not. And every $59.99 brake job (joke) needs new rotors and or calipers and a brake I under stand looking at cars for (necessary) service repairs to better business. But at what cost to the loyal customers. Corp does not have to worry because u can always rip off the next new customer coming in.

So the next time you go to Mavis watch how every car is torn down in search of superflous work. All customers brought out into shop so other customers cannot here the same line of bs being told to every customer. You really had to look under my hood to fix my flat tire on my way to work.

Don't forget to smile at the camera while telling service tech to please only bring safety concerns to my attention.

This is absolutely true. I worked at Cole Muffler when Mavis Tire bought them out. Slowly but surely, Mavis added more and more "services" that they demand you sell.

Doesn't matter what the car is there for, you have to pull all 4 wheels of the car and try to sell them something. If you do not pull the wheels you can be fired on the spot. You are not even allowed to tell the customer that you are going to do a "service check" or you will be fired on the spot. The reason they don't want you to tell them is because they don't want the customer to decline.

I was an assistant manager in a slower shop. At the time, our best day was about 2500 bucks. I ran the store by myself on Tuesdays. I did 4200 dollars that day. It was the most the store had ever seen. I get a phone call and got cussed out because I had not sold any brake flushes and only sold 1 alignment. I mean really? Their profit margin was enormous that day and I get cussed out because I didn't force a 60 dollar brake flush down someones throat.

Mavis is all about the upsell. They force you to sell *** that people don't need or you get fired. Worse yet, they will force you to move to a store that is 50 miles away from your home, when the store you worked at was right down the street. This forces an employee to quit so they don't have to pay unemployment.

They have fired almost every single Cole Muffler employee since Mavis has taken over. The managers they hire are all business guys. Most of them don't know a thing about cars but they try to fake it to sell things you don't need.

This is the absolute truth about Mavis Tire

I too have been taken for a fool by Mavis, not once but TWICE! The first time it was for an alignment.

After having the alignment not take they then said I needed a ball joint. So I bought the part and had them align it again. Afterwards my car drove more nuts then before! I called customer care and after several calls wound up being called a LIAR!!

I took it to a different Mavis location and was told that whoever (Mavis) did the ball joint left the pin out!!! 6 months later I thought, well let me try one more time with them. After having $3000 in work done including transmission, all 4 upper control arms, front passenger side tierod, all 4 struts, I needed an alignment once again. So after the 1st my car still pulled to the left and had a lot of play in the steering.

I was told perhaps it was the inner tierod or rack and pinion...everything else was tight and good. So I took it to another mechanic and had to have the driver side lower ball joint and axle replaced. HOW DID THEY MISS THAT?? Especially when the ball joints are soemthing they check prior to the alignment!

When the manager asked the tech all he could say is " I don't know"! So on our 3rd time back after having the driver ball joint and axle replaced they bring it in the shop and tell my husband "Oh, your passenger side tierod is loose" So we tell them to tighten it. They then bring it back out to the lot and my husband asks "So thats it you did the alignment?" The mechanic says NO! Wait....

what was he doing then? We were only there for our 3rd alignment! What was he doing then?!!

Needless to say we did not stay even though we are stilled owed the alignment because all faith has been lost. I hope this is read and consumers will heed the warning, PLEASE!!

I use to work for them - They put the hole in the side wall - they do it all the time. A quick jab with an awl does it.
