On July 16, 2016 at 6:30am, my mother woke up experiencing a severe shortness of breath. She has had congestive heart failure for the past two years. I immediately checked her oxygen levels and they were much lower than her normal readings. I pushed her Life Alert button and the staff contacted the appropriate medical professionals, allowing me to keep my mother calm and conscious until medical help arrived. While in the hospital, it was... Read more

I had a life-threatening stroke on May 1, 2016. I was on the phone with a girlfriend. She realized that she could not understand me anymore. Luckily, she doesn’t live far from me, she was in my house within a few minutes. She has a key to my door and she pressed my [Life Alert] button, because I was not able to do it myself. The ambulance, she told me, was here within minutes and the technicians took care of me. I was within 20-30 minutes in the... Read more

My emergency episode occurred one morning when I had awaken and couldn’t speak clearly, like I had a speech impediment, I was slurring my words, and I just didn’t feel well. The numbness in my left arm frightened me so I used my Life Alert system to get help. The responders were at my door in about ten minutes and evaluated my condition and immediately took me to the hospital. I later found out that I had a TIA (ischemic attack). I read up of... Life Alert 's reply to:

All of our calls are recorded for quality assurance. We had the opportunity to investigate this matter and review all of the recordings. When the complainant’s wife informed us that our customer was going into a senior living facility, we confirmed with her TWICE that there were emergency medical PENDANTS (not pull cords) at the facility. She confirmed this, TWICE. Unfortunately, the facility that our customer is going into does not have... Read more

I fell on June 12 and again July 7 this year—both at home—the first at 7am in my ½ bath off my bedroom and the second at 5am in the bedroom on my way to the ½ bath. Due to both knee replacements, I could not kneel to get off the floor so I pushed my Life Alert button which I always wear. In both instances, [Life Alert] called the emergency squad who came quickly and got me up. Since I could move all my joints, I did not go to the emergency room... Read more

On June 26, 2016, my son who is 58 years old, a type 2 diabetic, suddenly collapsed, falling and hitting his head, resulting in a concussion and unconsciousness. I called Life Alert and 911 for help. Within minutes, the rescue team arrived and took him to the emergency room. Then he was admitted to the hospital for two days. He is now recovering at home. Thank you for [Life Alert’s] quick response, and concerns and notifying my daughter. Life... Read more

The representative the complainant spoke with works for a separate 3rd party call center that takes brochure orders only - and is not part of Life Alert Corporation. However, we have listened to the audio call and feel that the call center rep was unprofessional in his manner towards our customer. We have brought this to the attention of his manager and disciplinary action has been taken as they have a zero tolerance policy for this type of... Read more

A sudden attack during the night left me unable to breathe. Living alone, and being 92 years of age, I was very frightened. Life Alert was the first thing I thought of for any help. After pushing my [Life Alert] pendant button, I received an immediate response. However, my concern was that I was in the bed and the response box is in the living room. However, [Life Alert] still heard me and advised me help was on the way. The police and... Read more
