After no help at all from customer service I posted some reviews online and was contacted by the social media team. They were very nice and offered to let me purchase a new oven at a discounted rate.

I replaced all my kitchen appliances just 3 years ago with stainless KitchenAid appliances. After 2 and a half years the oven started having problems.

I had technicians come out several times and try to fix it, but the problems persisted. Then the oven completely died and tried to switch itself into the self-cleaning phase. I can get the oven to work sometimes, but if it gets too hot it dies again!! I contacted customer service, and aside from being very rude to me, they declined to help me as I have a home warranty plan (but note that my home warranty company had not replaced anything and I am happy to cancel the policy to be helped by KitchenAid - they said I could do that).

The oven displays an error message that the keyboard needs to be replaced. After reading many other complaints today I learned that many others have had this issue! SHAME ON KITCHENAID/WHIRLPOOL for their horrible customer service and lack of help.

Finally, while doing all this research I found that my model number is on a recall list for cracking, which mine is doing also, yet when I mentioned this to customer service they said that was not true, even though I SAW it there, so why would they lie to me? This is a terrible way to treat customers and these products are literally *** (excuse my language) - I would NEVER buy any appliances from them again.

Reason of review: Damaged or defective.

Monetary Loss: $1500.

Preferred solution: Full refund.

KitchenAid Cons: Product or customer service, Actual product as i have a lemon, Quality for price paid, Lack of quality in product, Defective product.

Location: 6100 Paseo Del Norte, Carlsbad, CA 92011, USA

Hi Charlie, yes we had tried that but no luck. Update on my issue: KitchenAid DID agree to let me purchase a new oven with the funds I received as cash out from my home warranty company.

After all that I went through this was a fair thing to do and was much appreciated (they should have done this from the start but at least it was done).

I do have to say though that when the installers came to do their job we discovered the oven was a tad deeper than the replaced oven, so I had to spend an additional $300 for an electrician to come and move all the electrical connections so that the oven could fit. All in all I spent over $500 getting to the point where I have a working oven, which is unfortunate but I am appreciative that the social media people were able to do what the customer care people could not, plus they were friendly and apologetic, unlike the rude customer care people I dealt with.

Hey, I now this might sound dumb, have you unplugged your oven from power for about 5 minutes. Sometimes shutting off at breaker does not clear or reset memory sorry can not help with crack.

Now I am confused - you sent me two conflicting emails. First you told me you will look into it and then you say to go through my home warranty.

I do not want to go through my home warranty because they will only cash me out HALF the cost of replacement of a new oven, OR replace my oven with a lower quality brand. I have been trying to go through KitchenAid instead, as it truly is YOUR problem that my oven is defective. The other night my oven actually caught fire during cooking - now I have no oven to use and I am waiting to get customer service from your company.

If you sell a defective product you should make things right - I will send my information you the email address you provided and hope that your company will do the right thing. After much research over the weekend it appears that many people have had similar problems and are very dissatisfied with KitchenAid ovens.

Thank you for the review, rlcarlsbad. We are sorry for the frustrations, at this time if you have a home warranty we would refer you to them. Hopefully this information is beneficial to you.
