So after my $40k 2012 Honda Odyssey with 18K miles on the odometer started shaking while braking between the speed of 45-65MPH, I contacted the Hillside Honda first since I bought the van from them last year. When I took it for diagnostics as always these people for the second time said they didn't find anything and sent me back.

I was so dumbfounded. When I asked to go with them for test drive, they refused. I then contacted American Honda Motor Co. and they sent me over to Paragon Honda, Woodside NY.

Of course they found the issue but when they called American Honda Motor Co and spoke with this very polite and helpful lady, Miss so called regional manager named Ashley. When paragon Honda assistant manager Angel contacted her and spoke with her she refused to resurface or replace the rotors (shaking and vibrations due to warping) as per the service people at Paragon Honda. Paragon Honda wants close to $300 just to resurface and replace the front brakes. They are refusing to pay for anything and saying this is a maintenance issue and part of the braking system.

I have never ever heard a brand new vehicle with only 18k miles will have this sort of issues and on top of this its a family mini van not a sports car. This is a common issue with newer Honda Mini Van these days and they all know about it but Ashley refused to stand by the company's name or reputation or do anything out of good will. I was very disappointed with her level of service that she and her Company provided. never again I am or anyone of my family buying another Honda again.

Worse customer service from their dealership to their corporate office and its managers. STAY AWAY FROM HONDA. BUY TOYOTA. THEY ARE MUCH RELIABLE AND GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE.

ALWAYS.

if anyone wants to know, I don't work for Toyota or the Company. I am a frustrated customer stuck with HONDA JUNK.

Monetary Loss: $300.

Location: New York, New York

Iโ€™m looking into the lawyer who worked with Kia in their class action lawsuit. Would anybody be willing to file with me?

Sam Issue with Honda brakes repeated 3 times on 2006, 2010 and 2014 Odyssey. This looks like an Honda production issue that nobody wants to take seriously. We should start court case before somebody dies because of this problem!

Guest

I am going thru same thing with my 2013 Honda Od.....left message for Service Manager where i bought the car. Mine also started around 18,000 miles!

2012 new Odyssey had brake pulsation starting less than 5K miles. After rotor resurfacing the pulsation quickly returns, shame, otherwise love the odyssey. This makes my wife feel unsafe in her minivan with the kids.

Guest

Same here - around 17K rotors will warp when doing any sort of heavy braking. they didnt design the brake system to handle the load.

Very bummed since I have owned multiple honda's over the years. Guess it is time to move on to the last brand left with high quality

I've had the save warped rotor problem with my 2010 odyssey. I've had to have the rotors replaced it worked on, sometimes within 8000 miles of a repair

Guest

Me too. My Honda 2014 has shaking steering wheel when I cruise on highway and gently touch the brakes.

The shaking can be quite violent. The van has less than 20k on it and was shaking almost from Day 1.

For my next service, the dealer said they will machine the rotors to fix the problem. There seems to be a design issue.

We've had the same issue with our 2012 Odyssey. Every 7,500 miles or so, the pulsation comes back and the rotors need to be either resurfaced or replaced.

When asked about it happening so often, the service center tells us "it's the way you drive." Yet somehow the we drive has caused no such issues with any of the other cars we've driven over the past 25 years. This is our first Honda Odyssey, and it's sure to be our last.

Guest

Same issue with our 2012. Warped at 15,000 miles.

Sadly this is one of the reasons we got rid of the Kia Sedona. Thought Honda would have higher quality parts. They screwed up on the brake design and won't own up to it. Really sad to see Honda cheap out on quality of key safety components.

All of my wife's friends who have them also have warped rotors at low mileage.

Pathetic Honda.

A class action suit should be filed. They selling a defective product and then charging to fix it.

shame on you Honda.

Add me to the list. Ditto to everything.

We bought a new Honda oddessy 2013. at 15,000 miles we started having trouble with the rotors.

Every 15,000 miles we have to have something done to the rotors We bought a new vehicle so we would not have to have it at the shop all the time.

I have never had this problem any other cars we have have purchased not even used ones. Honda needs to help!

Guest

I have this same problem on our 2012 Odyssey. It's very common and a shame Honda doesn't acknowledge the defect.

Guest

I have the same problem @ 17K and have read where the rotors are undersized - I am not going to Honda service to have them replace them with the same ***. it'll be interesting to see how this pans out - do the newer vans have larger or better rotors? I am questioning if I will buy Honda again.

I think you will be hard pressed to find a vehicle that will be problem free. I too own a Honda Odyssey with warped front rotors. I'm going to drive them into the ground.

Hahahahah!!! Love that attitude

I have a 2012 Odyssey. Rotars warped and were replaced at 20k miles and now again at 40k miles.

We bought this vehicle new and take excellent care of it. This is very disappointing. I was a loyal Honda owner...

Not anymore. We purchased the extended warranty but of course dealer says this isn't covered.

I'm on my second Odyssey, slow learner, voth have had bad rotors with less thhan 20k miles. I am going to replace the rotors on 2012 with after market drilled replacements.

I have a 2013 Honda odyssey with 36,000 kilometers/22,400 miles and I have the same problem while braking at speeds over 65 MPH on highway, i had to use the D3 or L to break the van. I will go to the dealer to ask to replace the rotors, hope they do this repair for free.

Also another defect of this mini van are the armrest of the driver seat but I received a replacement for free. But I love this van, I had reached 110 mph at highway and has a great grip.

Our 2012 Odyssey has now racked up 75,xxx miles (purchased new, original owner). We've experienced front brake issues with all 4 of our previous Odysseys.

Our current Odyssey warps its front rotors every 7,500 miles. The rotors are resurfaced, we keep the pads since there's plenty of "meat". But after 15,000 miles, the rotors are done. In all, we've had to replace front rotors and pads 5 times now and have resurfaced the front rotors 4 times (1st resurface at around 8,000 miles was covered as "good will" from our dealer).

As aftermarket brake components become more available, I'll give these a shot. We deviated from Honda and went with a Toyota Sienna SE, never had an issues for 80,xxx miles before it was rear ended. The Sienna didn't age as well as the Odyssey, things started to rattle here and there.

It's a shame, the Odyssey has been such a good van. Its hard to spent $3,000 on after market big brake kit, even though I've spent roughly that amount on replacement brakes already......

Guest

Interesting. My 2012 Honda Odyssey gave me this exact problem at about 25k miles and now at 53k miles, it has the same exact problem.

The first time at 25k, the dealer did the resurfacing for free or under extended maintenance but now they want $452.

I have owned other mini vans but never had this issue before. They should have this problem listed under scheduled regular maintenance.
