I own a 2009 Accord V-6(bought it brand new). I recently noticed my engine light flashing and the TPMS light would come on and go off every now and then.

While coming to a stop the car would shudder and act like it was going to die out. Took it in to the dealership and they could not duplicate the problem. Told me next time it happened not to turn the engine off and come straight in. Two weeks later the engine light starts flasing again and the shuddering is also noticed.

I took it in immediately and they found there was a misfire on cylinder 3. They suggested to replace all 6 sparkplugs because they were all looking very bad. Reminder I have 54K miles on my car and sparkplugs should last 100K(not). I had all 6 sparkplugs replaced and the car ran fine for 3 weeks.

Guess what, once again the engine light starts flasing and the shuddering begins again, as well as the TPMS light going off and on sporadically. I took it in immediately and low and behold it is a misfire on cyl 3 again. I am speculating that the computer needs to be replaced in the car, which this would be the last thing Honda wants to replace since it is so costly. I was told if it is the computer it was still under warranty of 8 yrs or 80K miles.

It has been in the shop for over a week now and they sent "snapshots" of the sensors to American Honda trying to figure out what the next step is. Just want to let all know, I have read that there are many people with the 2009/2010 Accord V-6 having the exact, and I repeat, EXACT problems I am having. Just google random misfire on Honda Accords and you will find many forums talking about this issue. It is obviously a problem with Honda parts, but I dont understand why there is no campaign started for this particular problem.

Oh, and yes, I have had to have the back brakes replaced at my cost because they were faulty as well. So now I sit and wait from an answer from Honda as to what they are going to do with my Accord.

I have the same problem. How do I get it fixed.

I recently had the same issue. Driving back from vacation trip the engine light started flashing and later the VSA light came on.

The dealer quickly diagnosed the some of the valves were leaking oil.

They replaced everything needed to do repairs under a manufacturer 8 year extended warranty. I have had the car 7 years and 10 months.

I have the same issue with my accord , I have been in and out dealer at least 5 times same issue misfire cylinders, I contact Honda Corp and evert time they tell me the same thing sorry sir your car is out of warranty ,, no *** really . I always had Hondas but I'm very disappointed with Honda lack of respect for their customers

I have the exact problem and each time the dealer replaces sparkplug #3 and the problem goes away for a month.

Unfortunately, I live in Mexico and the warranty is different than the US. I am on my own.

Honda should bypass this option in the computer if they can not fix the problem. Go back to 6 cyl.

Is anyone still in this thread? What happened to your cars?

I'm having the same problem now on my '10 Accord EX V6.

There has been a service bulletin about it and a dealership has replaced my 1-4 spark plugs and updated the PCM free of charge but I still feel the misfires (car lurches randomly when driving). Did you fix your cars or sell them off?

It's the piston rings. I just put piston rings in an 09 accord for the same problem.

You put plugs in and update first then if the problem comes back it's time to do the piston rings. Should be warranty as well.

Oil passes the rings and fouls out the plugs. Usually 1-4 for some reason.

For the last 18 months my 2009 accord has shuddered when stopped at a red light. It seems the air conditioner being off or on affects whether this happens (and if so, the severity or strength of the shuddering).

Actually, I noticed that once I turn my a/c on I could never truly turn it off completely again until it was restarted with the a/c already in the off position...some air would still come out. I got in the habit of switching it to floor and ignoring it...Very strange, but not trying to derail this subject.

I'm now experiencing misfiring at start-up, more frequent in the morning when engine is cold and less so during the day after starts and stops while running errands or what not. Checked my battery that's only maybe 14 or 15 months old and it is not the issue, still full of juice. Considered the starter as the problem but now wondering about this spark plug possibility.

I'm at the end of my ability as far as cars go, so I'll have to take it in at this point. Replacing a battery is one thing, going more in depth than that is not my skill set.

Ok I am really freaked out I have a 2011 Honda accord with 15,000 miles on it and i'm having the same misfire 3 cylinder. I have to bring it in tomorrow and now I'm really upset.

I bought a Honda because they are really reliable and they last forever. of course i'm having these problems.

I've had this car for 2 years and not one problem then all of a sudden check engine light and spuddering!!!! ugh

I own an '08 EXL-V6 and had the same problems with the VSA and engine lights. Come to a stop and the car sputters.

Odd thing, the problem goes away after turnign the car off/on but comes back frequently.

Replaced brakes at 19K miles, Michelin Pilot tires at 23K. Next car will not be a Honda.

I have a 2010 V6 Accord with 135k miles. Long story short, I have taken it in three times for the #3 misfire issue starting about 50k miles.

They asked me to do an oil consumption test on the most recent visit. In 8,000 miles I used 5 quarts of oil (BTW I had a 100k mile extended warranty). Honda, believe it or not, is replacing the engine FOR FREE, not one question asked.

I think that speak volumes about their concern for reputation. Customer for life!

I currently bought a 2010 V6 accord coupe. Weeks later a vsa light and engine light starts flashing and the car starts to shutter.

Im waiting now on the results from the dealer. Does anyone know what the vsa light is for?

First off...you need to ask for your almost $300 back for the spark plugs. Honda refunded me $282.39 since this did not resolve the issue.

Honda does know what the problem is. They just take certain steps(at the consumers inconvenience)to fix the problem. After spark plugs were replaced and it did not fix problem, the next step was to take snapshots and forward to a "tech specialist" from Honda. The tech stated they should remove cylinder heads and replace valve stems and put new head gaskets on.

My car went in on 9/24/11 and I got it back on 10/25/11. On 11/4/11, it happens again. So it goes back in the shop and now they replaced the cylinder block. On 11/23/11 the malfunction lamp comes on again, but this time the code is P0430, which is the catalyst.

They replaced B2 catalyst converter and all should be fine, right??? On 1/28/12 I took in for routine oil change and they found an oil leak coming from the valve cover gaskets(which were replaced during this whole process). 2/4/12 they replaced the rear valve cover gasket and keeping my fingers crossed all has been ok since then. I hope this helps.

Ultimately it was the cylinder block that had to be replaced. Good luck.

I have 2009 6-cyl Accord (53K miles)with the exact same problem happening now. Have appt with dealership on Monday.

We've already replaced all 6 spark plugs but problem continues.
