Refused to take back generator I purchased
stars-rating stars-rating stars-rating stars-rating stars-rating

I purchased a new firman generator in October as a stand by unit as I live off grid and wanted a backup power option to charge my batteries in the winter. Used the generator for a few hours 2 months after the purchase and now generator refuses to start.

I live 2 hours away from the closest store. Went back to the store with the generator thinking I could return it. They refused, said I had to contact the manufacturer. No one explained that when I first bought the unit.

Sadly, their Instore signs say that customers can return products if they are not happy, what a crock of @#% Tried calling Firman. Their customer support is in South Carolina. Tried 5 times. Spoke to an English speaking gentleman first time who was of zero help at all.

Told me I had to go to one of their dealers who was over 2 and 1/2 hours away. I tried explaining that this made no sense but the line got cut off. Got a voice mail the 2nd time and the line cutoff before I could leave a message. The 3rd time I got through where One of their reps was trying to get me to take the generator apart so I could clean the carburetor to see if that would fix the problem.

I explained that I had already driven to the store and was not about to try to repair the generator myself. Shortly after, the line was cut off.

Fourth time went on hold, waited about 5 to 10 minutes and the line cutoff.
The 5th time I got through and again was told I had to go to their service reps but this one was closer.
The moral of this story is better to buy a generator from a generator specialist, maybe pay a bit more, than from Home Depot. At least there, they will back up what they sell.

Extremely pissed with the way I weas treated while renting a van

After reading many of these reviews its clear that this is where most of peoples complaints just end with no satisfaction, in my case after renting a van for the second time and not like Im into spending a ton of money on rental vehicles as it is but this bill for the second timer was nearing 1800 dollars, and I was fine with that and same as when I rented it before my bill was approx 1800 dollars so with having a previous rental for the same amount it would seem that the second time shouldn't have been an issue but in the policy if you read of course the whole rental agreement it states that they can just ask to have the vehicle back simply because they want it back . not that they need it for another costumer or anything or for any other purpose but simply because they want it back.

and this is what they did for absolutely no reason and Im going to bypass even putting in a complaint and just go straight to court on that one because it caused me to have to lose a 2000 dollar job we were required toi do the same morning and that's not a big job mind ya but the job was being done by young teenagers who were looking very forward to the work and the money of course and for the greater good but that was all ripped away simply because they wanted it back. There was no reason and then the manager was super rude and Im going to ask for a recording of the interaction in the store and go forward with taking them to court for terrible customer service and that's in a policy agreement .. wow, in the policy they have it covered that they can just treat you bad almost. But I am exposing this to the fullest, guaranteed .

I got nothing better to do this week since my own vehicle is still in the garage and no work for me this week now thanks to them.

But if their policy is so inclined to just take back the vehicle when they want for no reason, then they should also be inclined to pay the salary of the people who were depending on it.. I want video footage from the store that showed my interactions with the employees at north bay home depot, the manager was mocking me and everything, I couldn't believe it and for some reason I couldn't get the location of the home depot in this blog where it asks for the location its marking it in Florida in the states but this happened at home depot in North Bay ont I dont want the Florida home depot getting a bad review when they did nothing wrong to me

Return policy is unfair

I have edited this review with comment that the return policy on AC units has been around for several years. However I still feel that I am caught up in a Home Depot policy that should have some discretionary flexibility in specific situations.

I purchased an LG window AC on June 3, which we decided not to use. I had thought there was a 90 day return. I returned this today Aug 2 (59 days) in an unopened brand new box, obviously after the 30 day window. When I bought this with suggestions from staff, I was not told that there was only a 30 day return - but I now see it was in smaller print on the receipt.

I guess that is on me. But with a receipt, purchased with Visa, in an unopened box, with this being a current item in stock, and this being in the middle of a hot summer, I thought this could be returned to my credit card. I do not think Home Depot will have trouble selling this. However I was firmly told store credit only.

Policy changed with people taking advantage of the 90 day return apparently, bringing AC units back at end of summer. Manager agreed that this policy seemed unfairly applied in my situation but there was nothing she could do. Called HD customer service who told me I was 'lucky' to even get a store credit! I felt very upset and disappointed that a policy intended to address dishonest customers, was being applied to me, a 'good' customer with legitimate reason for refund.

So now I have a $350 credit voucher for a store that I am not sure I feel comfortable shopping at anymore. Plus this is an amount that would normally go towards a larger purchase, but using store credit does not get me the extra warranty that I would get with my credit cards.

I remember when there was greater regard for customer satisfaction at Home Depot. I am not sure why no flexibility is allowed on this return.
Customers need to be told of 30 day returns for large items at the time of purchase.

Negative Experience At Shawnessy Home Depot Calgary

I received terrible service from the tool department Manger at the above location.
I asked him to help locate a particular item and was informed it was on a quarter pallet.
He turned and walked away.
He sets poor example for the employees in the Department.
Something should done to train this gentlemen in customer service and ultimately pays his salary.
He should not be dealing with the public
