You are not alone on the hinge faulty design problem. I found the HP forum very helpful.

There is a plethora of posts all mirroring the hinges breaking. I have been on the merry-go-round for months now. For the most part I don't think it is covered under ANY warranty you could or did purchase. Design flaws are just that - flaws.

So you acknowledge it fix it and move on, right? No not HP, if your warranty has expired oh too bad, we would have covered it. If warranty is still good, oops again you didn't have the extra damage coverage. As you read thousands of posts, some paid to have HP MAKE REPAIRS FROM$100 to $300.

Same repair remember so my quote was $456 and could be higher depending on postage Some get fixed at no cost , most don't, but the case managers I have been assigned to claim to have no knowledge if a hinge problem, have no idea about any forum, play semantics, answer questions with questions, close your case after 3 attempts to contact you and if you have any strength left you start over. Don't be fooled you will get the same case manager again and the same NO.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Reason for my review is keep trying, HP knows this is not an isolated incident. The hinge problem has nothing to do with average wear and tear, it is clearly a design flaw and is in no way the customer's fault.

In terms of design, the hinges are not made strong enough to support the weight of screen.

I feel it is insulting as a customer to be charged any amount whether it be discounted or not. It is an insult to profit off your own design flaw.

This problem has been all over the boards for 4 years now.

Why did Jeff Christopher the Executive Customer Relations manager reach out to others in 2014 and not now?
