Harris Teeter - To whom it may concern
To whom it may concern,
I currently live in Iowa, but I recently visited family in Virginia. More importantly, I had the pleasure of shopping at your store located in Manassas. I must say, I was very impressed with the cleanliness and layout of the store. Unfortunately, this is not a complimentary letter.
During my visit, about three weeks ago, I regrettably witnessed something I hadnโt seen since the fourth grade. After making my purchase, I decided to try my hand at the Virginia Lottery. As I was making my way to the machines, I noticed the machines being serviced by a manager, and what I think was a trainee. What happened next, I have to say, was the worst case of bullying and belittling ever. The manager was speaking so harshly, to the trainee, I felt so bad for her. The manager made comments like โ What are you doing ?โ and โ Donโt you pay attention ?โ. Finally nudging her way past her and saying โ Youโre taking too long !โ As they finished up and were walking away, the manager said loudly โ Youโre gonna fail !โ Loud enough for myself, and several other patrons to hear. The trainee, a shorter lady, with curly dark hair and glasses, had a defeated look on her face, and I could tell, it took everything she had to hold back tears. In my opinion, that is NO WAY to manage ! I later asked one of the cashiers who the lady in the flowery blouse was, and she said it was the store manager.
As someone who has been in the customer service industry for many years, I do know you build a good employee by encouragement , and being that helping hand for them. Not by forcing your employees to fear you, and by being just down right ugly to them.
Iโm sending this letter just to inform you of a blemish in an otherwise wonderful store. I am also hoping that some retraining is in order, or at least some sort of reprimand to the store manager. With the level of attitude I witnessed, Iโm sure this isnโt the first time this situation has come to light.
