Hamilton Beach 49983 2Way FlexBrew leeches nasty melting plastic
The Hamilton Beach 49983 2Way Flex Brew coffee maker leeches a horrible burning and melting plastic taste and smell when brewing. When I wrote to them to ask what to do about it (since I had already run the "clean" cycle using vinegar and water etc.) they answered with "...scrub all parts with baking soda..." However, that did NOT resolve the issue after 3 weeks of brewing cycles (trying several times a day) on the single-serve side.
I wasted gallons of bottled water not to mention all the pounds of coffee and after 3 weeks it continued to dispense the nasty plastic taste and smells.
Hamilton Beach is fully aware of this problem and has not corrected it. This is shameful business practices with no concern for public health and safety.
Reason of review: Bad quality.
Monetary Loss: $90.
Preferred solution: Stop manufacturing coffee makers with inferior plastic or rubber parts that leech into the water during brewing!.
Hamilton Beach Cons: Wasted money, Wasted coffee and bottled water, Unhealthy melting plastic, Nasty melting plastic taste.

My HB flexbrewer apparently Was too hot. *** melted through on the top plastic flap and in the plastic coffee basket.
A great way to burn my house down. I'm ditching it!!
Hamilton Beach customer service has a pretty bad reputation. This guy says to buy their stuff if you like to "gamble":

Personally I'd go with something else.
