Graceland Portable Buildings - Storage Buildings
Purchased a storage building in June 2011. Hurricane Irene destroyed in August 2011.
September 2011 we received a letter stating our contract was invalid, so we advised Graceland to come and get their building. When the driver showed up and saw the building was destroyed by Hurricane Irene, he refused to take it from the property, so the building sat still until December 2011 when we were served with papers on December 23, 2011 stating we were being sued for the full payment of the "invalid contract". We hired an attorney who spoke with Graceland and they decided to have us pay for 2 months, June and July on the contract and they would drop the lawsuit.
We ended up paying $1,100.00 to make this "joke of a company" go away!
Do not do business with this company, they are located in Kentucky, but sell everywhere! BEWARE!!
Monetary Loss: $6500.
Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina

Who is graceland portable buildings current insurance carrier?
I do not know. They however, did not sell us insurance when we purchased the building even though they would still be owning it due to having a contract with them. They messed up our contract all the way around.
Who was your attorney because I really need the help with my building?
Attorney was in NC. I would look on www.findalawyer.com
We just hired an attorney in the county where we lived at the time. We are in NC.
If you rent to own, it is usually up to you to maintain protect and insure the property, because it is not 'yours' until it is paid for. Even when you 'buy' a house, you have to have insurance on it to protect the bank's interests.
Maybe there is more to the story, but it looks like you might have used a technicality/contract error to chinsel-cheese out of a $6000+ loss on a destroyed building for which you were financially responsible, and that is not honest. If that is what happened but it does not make any sense as to why it's dishonest, a book on responsibility or morality might help clear it up.
:? Maybe there is a lot more to the story, but it does not seem to be posted here, and it looks like what I have written.
This is a very good company we dealt with in Texas we had no problems what so ever and would be happy to use them again . :grin
Why didnt you have insurance you *** thats why they sell it
Sorry, my previous post was to "I know everything" not written by this person.
The Company did not require insurance even with their contract which we thought was odd.
The Company stated the contract was invalid because the guy that sold us the building did not figure all the costs into the contract for some extras that we requested.
Again, if you want to do business with this company, be my guest!
Okay...if, in the end, you paid the payments for June and July, and purchased the building in June, that would indicate that you never made the June and July payments in the first place. I'm not a math whiz, but I'd say that THAT was the reason the contract was invalidated.
It's unfortunate that the building was destroyed by events beyond your control; however, homeowner's or renter's insurance should have covered it...None of what happened is the company's fault.
Well the driver had every opportunity to get the building, but refused.
Maybe you should read what I posted again, because clearly you did not understand the situation. If you want to do business with this company, be my guest!!!
how is this the companys fault? sounds to me like the driver did the right thing and YOU were trying to screw them. If you buy a pair of shoes and your dog chews them up, you can't take them back, right?
Not the whole story. Check company with Better Business Bureau.
