The quality of the water supply hose that is attached to the faucet is hugely inferior to most other plumbing manufacturers. The hose connects the faucet to the water supply valve on the wall behind the sink.
Of course I didn't notice this until it was too late. Most water supply hoses are thick tubing wrapped in thick dense braided metal wire. Theirs is the opposite. It is flimsy thin junk.
Note that these braided hoses are what replaced hard copper pipe which was used for 100 years prior. Plumbing pipes need to be strong, because when they break, floods ensue, children get burned and dogs die.
We keep our dog in the bathroom when we are out. One time he must have been looking for something to chew other than his toys. The hose, like most, does resemble a rope toy.
Well, the dog bit the hot water hose - it appears that he only bit it once or twice- probably didnt like it. So the dog ended up being trapped in a very small room with scalding water spraying everywhere. When we got home, there was a horrible flood and our wonderful, sweet, smart, loving, joyous, innocent dog was dead.
Of course, it is not GB's fault that the dog bit the hose. *** happens- freak accident.
Of course the faucets aren't (and shouldn't be) designed to withstand dog bites.
But if you go look at any water supply hose at any hardware store, you'll see that they are much more beefy and surely could withstand one bite from a dog- or a child with a knife- or whatever freak accident you can imagine. But hey, Glacier Bays saves a few pennies by using *** hoses in the making of their faucets!
