I used Garnier Olia for the first time last month, sold on the idea of its natural oils. A veteran user of at-home hair colouring products, I followed all of the instructions on the box to the T.

Long story short, this dreadful hair product stained my scalp, and my skin horribly, and it has taken over two weeks for the Halloween sticky colour to stop showing up in my rinse water. I had to pay for hair colour correction.

I never, ever had a problem with a hair dye until I used this product. It is by far the worse I have ever had.

Monetary Loss: $100.

Location: New Port Richey, Florida

left this in another thread too....

DO NOT USE AMMONIA BASED PRODUCTS IF YOU HAVE USED THIS PRODUCT PRIOR!

The dye used in this (it is a metallic salt dye apparently) has an adverse reaction with ammonia. It will turn your hair to jelly! I can literally only use semi's now until i either have the salts stripped from my hair or let it grow out.

There are no warnings about this on the product! It reacted in the same way that henna dye reacts to dyes/bleach.

Unfortunately had 3/4 of my hair cut off and am now sporting a "pob"

Is fine if you only use this product but if you went out and then got highlights etc it wouldnโ€™t go down well most likely.

This is the first time I have ever had an issue with any dye products.

Prior to this i was happy with the product, wont be using it again as I have since found that the chemicals used in these "No ammonia" dyes are far far worse for you than the alternative, with many being carcinogenic.

*additional Info - have just found somebody else this has just happened too, unfortunately she was not as lucky as i was and has lost most of her hair and got very bad burns. Same dye 8.0 blonde, not sure if this issue is across the board or just with this specific shade.

Totally agree!!!!! I used the 3.16 darkest violent lastnight and all it did was turn my ROOTS brown.

The rest of my hair is still black. They will be hearing from me monday morning! Soooo disappointed.

Does anyone know how soon I can re-color my hair without damage :sigh ? I'm going back to clairol nice n easy which is what I usually use..

I agree!!! Olia wrecked my gorgeous long hair. I normally use Garnier Nutrisse Cream Color and have been very happy with it. With the Nutrisse my hair always came out soft and shiny. When I saw that Garnier had made a product that was oil based I thought wow more soft, shiny hair! Wrong!! :(

First off, I hated the bottle. It's too fat and hard to handle when your hands are wet. I could tell as I was putting it in that my hair felt different. Then as I rinsed it out my hair felt like dried out straw and the conditioner did nothing to improve it. I did the color yesterday and since then have done 2 separate intense conditioning treatments to try to get it back to where it was.

How on earth can Garnier market this product as an oil based color that gives you soft, shiny hair when it does abolutely the opposite. Shame, shame!!!

Don't risk your hair with this product. It's absolutely horrible and now I am not so sure I even want to go back to the Nutrisse that I've been using for 2 years.
